23.01.2022 7 weeks ago we had 3 little fluffy Australian Wood duckling orphans brought into our Trinity Gardens clinic Two of our team members, Jess and Nick Male decided to take the babies home to foster. Their kids helped raise the ducklings, now named Mini Goose, Ducky and Teeko, and they've been living a life of leisure on their lawn; they even went to school for show and tell, twice! They will be released in a week or two - though the kids are so very sad to see them go! They've been great fun to have around, even jumping in the pool with the kids unexpectedly one afternoon - they were very quickly shooed out!

23.01.2022 Feel Good Friday Here's a photo of Penny and her baby lamb Audrey Penny suffers from phantom pregnancies so when Audrey was found abandoned and unresponsive in a paddock - her owners decided to see if they would get along and by golly they did - With Penny taking on a motherly role with the little lamb! ... Both Penny and Lady the dalmatian's love their little sister Audrey who has well and truly earned her 'spot' in this little family ;)

23.01.2022 What better way could you spend International Dog Day last week? At our Stirling Clinic it was all excitement with a class of graduates at Puppy Preschool! All the puppies were put through their paces and all passed with flying colours!

22.01.2022 This cheeky cockatiel came into our Stirling clinic as stray but due to his beautiful cuddly nature - we certainly knew he was hand raised and surely very loved (and missed!) He spent his time with us snuggled up with Bonnie, nibbling on her earrings and necklace When the owner was located - we learnt they were a nurse for the old owners of the clinic 25 years ago! What a small world

22.01.2022 Young Bailey was brought to us as she was not weight bearing on her front leg. She was diagnosed with a fractured radius and spent her early days as a pup in a splint and bandage. But we were able to take the splint off a couple of weeks ago and she is now recovered and back to her naughty puppy ways

19.01.2022 Did you know that more than 80% of dogs and 70% of cats over three years old have some form of dental disease? We all know that awful pain of a tooth ache and our pets can get them too! So just like us, it's very important that our pets dental health is monitored to avoid future health problems. Here is Pippa showing off her bravery bandana after having a scale, polish and even a tooth removed at our Trinity Gardens clinic If you want to know more about dental health and your pet check out our website: https://adelaidevet.com.au/pet-dental-health

19.01.2022 Maverick visited our Stirling clinic last week for his vaccinations - He was incredibly brave and a bit of a heart-stealer among the team!

19.01.2022 Did you know today is "I Love Horses Day"? Some of our team members wanted to let you know why they love horses and show of their family members Comment a reason (or more!) that you love horses

18.01.2022 Jacqui Johnson has celebrated 10 years with AdelaideVet! "I started with AdelaideVet in 2010 in a Client Relations role on the reception desk at our Prospect Clinic. I loved our amazing team there and I really enjoyed assisting our lovely clients. But I have to say the highlight of the job was getting to greet everyone's beautiful pets all day, everyday. THE BEST JOB!!! Then as AdelaideVet began it's Total Wellness Plan program I began working in our Support Centre a few days... a week to assist with the growing administration involved with the "TWP". But as the program became so successful very quickly, I soon moved full time into the Support Centre. I now handle a plethora of other "behind the scenes" administration tasks which assists the running of our 4 hospitals. I have taken 3 lots of parental leave over my 10 years with AdelaideVet but I keep coming back to this job that I love so much. I feel really lucky to be part of a team focused on the care & wellbeing of Adelaide's animal family members. And of course I still sneak out of my office and into the hospital to give some patients a smooch whenever I get the chance. I am probably like almost ALL of the team at AdelaideVet when I tell you that within 6 months of starting work I had acquired an animal in need!!! My beautiful dog Bowie and his little brother and sister were brought in to be checked over after being found abandoned in a cardboard box at a park. Bowie was such a timid little pup. I just had to bring him home and show him he didn't need to be scared and he deserved a loving family with my husband and I. Three human kids later and he is and will always be our first baby. AdelaideVet has evolved so much over my 10 years. I look forward to seeing what the next 10 years brings! Show me your AdelaideVet acquired pet's below. I'd LOVE to see the cats you adopted from AdelaideVet - I might remember them!. And AdelaideVet team - show me the pet's that have joined your family since you started work." We are so lucky to have Jacqui on our team. We couldn't run as smoothly as we do without her. Happy 10 years with AdelaideVet Jacqui!

17.01.2022 Whether you're a dog person or a cat person - I think you can agree that kittens are pretty cute and today is World Kitten Day! Did you know... All kittens are born with blue eyes? You may see a range of eye colours in their first year of life. ... They are born deaf, but when their amazing sense of hearing is fully developed by 4 weeks of age, they can hear 65,000 cycles per second (or hertz), whereas we can only hear 20,000.) Its instinctual for cats to bury their waste which makes them really easy to litter train! Here are some of our team members talking about our kittens and why we love them - Happy World Kitten Day everyone!

16.01.2022 Today at AdelaideVet we celebrated two very special birthday's. First we have Milo - Milo has been coming to AdelaideVet since he was a wee little pup and today he turned 13! Secondly we have our Prospect clinic cat Kevin! Kevin has been with Adelaide vet for just over 5 years and today he turned 6 years old. Kevin got to stray from his strict diet today and enjoyed a sneaky little tuna loin! Happy Birthday Kevin

15.01.2022 Here's a whole album of Puppy cuteness of our most recent puppy graduates! Congratulations graduates - you we're all pawfect students!

14.01.2022 Bunty is a perfect example of how a tooth can look fine on the outside but the problems are lurking under the gumline! In X-ray image 1 we have a great example of 'furcation' involvement. Furcation is when the bone breaks down exposing the painful nerve endings. You can see in the photo of Bunty - we never would have known without dental radiographs! And in image 2 - A really cool example of remnants of a tooth root left behind in the gum line! When tooth roots are left beh...ind in the gum line it can lead to inflammation and infection - Ouch! Thanks Bunty for helping us teach our clients about dental procedures and their importance!

13.01.2022 Dr Steph Crocker was a bit smitten when 9 week old bulldog, Lulu, came in for her puppy check with a manicure - I think after looking at these photo's you'll see why!

12.01.2022 Feel Good Friday! Larry went missing back in March. Today he was brought in to our Goodwood clinic by a kind member of the public and scanned for a microchip where we were then able to contact his worried Mum, Jacqui! Larry lives in South Plympton but had travelled to Pasadena - An hours walk away for a human!... This is a perfect reminder of how important it is to not only microchip your pets but to make sure you keep your details up to date. We're so happy Larry is home!

11.01.2022 Our Goodwood Road Cattery was excited to welcome their first guests over the long weekend - Frank and Licorice! They enjoyed their luxury accommodation and tested out the two playrooms full of fun activities and cozy lounging nooks. Our team members all enjoyed the play and cuddles too!

10.01.2022 Sometimes its our own pets who need treatment Dr Chiew-Lian brought in her own pet to our Stirling Practice today - Nori, a Japanese Bantam Cross. After a thorough examination, Nori was diagnosed with Scaly Foot-an infestation caused by tiny parasites. ... Noris feet were bathed and then a special cream was applied to her claws to asphyxiate the parasites. Her treatment will now be completed with a course of medication at home. Nori was the perfect patient today, so much so that she made the rest of the team a bit clucky to get some pet chickens of their own.

09.01.2022 This is our nurse Dani with the gorgeous J-Lo J-Lo came in for our winter wellness package - she was very brave! J-Lo is a red chow chow - A breed that's believed to have been around for up to 3000 years!... Chow chow puppies will have a standard pink tongue but as they age, their tongues will darken. With a fully grown chow chow like J'Lo sporting a blue-black tongue - Pretty cool hey? The only other dog with a similar tongue is the Chinese Shar-Pei.

09.01.2022 Don't forget our current dental promo isn't only for dental procedures - Did you know that through the months of August and September you can book in with a FREE dental check with one of our nurses? Call your local Adelaide Vet Clinic to book in

08.01.2022 As the sun comes out - unfortunately, so do our slippery friends - the snakes! We're already seeing snake bites come into the clinic which means it's time to take precautions to avoid these nasty bites: Keep your house neat and tidy: Keep grass mowed, remove junk and clean our the shed. This will minimise hiding areas for the snakes and also keep rats and mice out of your yard AKA a snakes favourite snack ... The most common snake bites we see in urban and suburban Adelaide are brown snakes, red-bellied black snakes and black snakes. If you should see a snake call the snake catchers on (0413 511 440) Visit our website for more information on snakes and your pets: https://adelaidevet.com.au/snakebite-and-your-pet

07.01.2022 Feel Good Friday This week we have another microchip miracle story. We had Reggie brought in as a stray living in a kind member of the public's garage. They took time out of their day to feed and catch the cheeky monkey and bring him in to our clinic. Our receptionist nurses checked him for a microchip and thankfully he was microchipped and his chip was registered with up to date details which meant we could call his worried owners. But none of the staff working expected to... hear that Reggie had been missing for EIGHT YEARS! Naughty Reggie Had originally ventured all the way from Pt Noarlunga to Blair Athol - an EIGHT HOUR walk for a human. We have no idea how Reggie ended up in our neck of the wood but we were so thankful to host this reunion. This once again shows the importance of not only microchipping but keeping details up to date even on lost pets as miracles DO happen! https://adelaidevet.com.au/services/microchip

07.01.2022 We have another successful class of puppies coming through our Goodwood Puppy Preschool with trainer Chevon! Hats off to the graduates

06.01.2022 Feel Good Friday Cheeky 9 month old Gizmo was brought in by a kind member of the public when he was found wandering about near a busy street! He enjoyed hanging out at the clinic for a few hours - with his favourite spot being on the shoulder of vet Dr. Stephanie Ortega - but was very happy to be reunited with his worried mum!

05.01.2022 "Cats choose us; we don't own them" - Kristin Cast Our regular boarding cats often form special bonds with our team. Here is Kito - one of our very special, regular boarding cats at our Stirling Clinic. Here he is with his adopted team member, Sam, who is always at Kito's beck-and-call! Know that when your cats stay with us at any of our "Cats in the City" boarding facilities - they're not guests: they're family

04.01.2022 Today we're celebrating Mickey Mouse's Birthday! In honour of the birth of our musical and mischevious mouse, we thought we would talk about having mice as pets! Mice make great pets - Intelligent and sociable they love both human and fellow mice as company! They love to burrow in shredded paper , play in home-made hammocks and LOVE treat related enrichment toys like toilet rolls ... Mice are omnivores and enjoy a variety of fruit and vegetables however it's also important they get some good quality rat cube or pellet as well to ensure their nutrition is well rounded. Some important things to remember if you're considering a mouse as a pet is to handle them gently, never holding them by the tail . You will need an appropriate enclosure that will protect them from the elements And finally that they like to live with other mice but it's important that they are either the same gender or one is desexed - Otherwise you could end up with more mice than you bargained for! Happy 92nd Birthday Mickey Mouse!

04.01.2022 Feel Good Friday! This is Sam and his dog Harry. Harry is turning 19 this year (thats over 130 in human years!) and came in for a procedure today Theyve been together since Sam was 5 and been best buds ever since! This is a picture of Harry going home after his surgery today and I think you can tell they're glad to be reunited

02.01.2022 Feel Good Friday You get a kitten! You get a kitten! Everyone gets a kitten! In true Oprah Winfrey style - Our Stirling team had the absolute pleasure of meeting not one, not two, not three but FOUR new family members. ... I think you can imagine how hard it was getting this cheeky lot to look at the camera at the same time!

01.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day R U OK Day is an initiative to encourage removing the stigma of discussing mental health and suicide prevention. We in the animal care industry strongly encourage our team members to take good care of their mental health due to the high stress levels and the emotional toll it can take.... At all of our Adelaide Vet clinics we encouraged our team members to ask each other "R U OK?" today over shared lunches. This provided a relaxed environment to open up important discussion about our mental health. We are proud of our team for their openness and willingness to share. Today we encourage all of our clients to ask the people you care about, "R U OK?"
