21.01.2022 We are sorry to inform you all that we have made the decision to postpone the "Experience Sustainability" event we had scheduled for this Saturday 21st March with TS4 Living due to the COVID-19 situation. We do not want to put any of you at risk or to compromise the safety of the family who had generously offered to open their home up to the public. At this stage, we are unsure when we will be able to resume public events and so we have refunded the full ticket fee to those ...who had booked for the event. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding on this matter. Unfortunately this also means that we will not be able to pass the proceeds from this event along to Habitat for Humanity South Australia as we had intended. Once we can safely host events again, this will be high on our priority list! In the meantime, if you would like to support the work that this wonderful group do, then they have requested donations be made via their GiveNow Page: https://www.givenow.com.au/houseafamilyinneed The ASBN team will be busily working on some creative ways to keep the conversations about sustainable built environments going while we're all in seclusion. Watch this space!

15.01.2022 The ASBN's mission has always been to advocate and take action towards ensuring our built environments are sustainable and livable. We believe the Safe Climate Declaration, initiated at the National Climate Emergency Summit in Melbourne last month, is a vital step in shifting sustainable practises from the niche corner that we operate in, into standard practise. This year we will be focusing more on how we can all take action - be that big or small. Join us in signing this very important declaration. More information on the Safe Climate Declaration is here: https://www.climateemergencysummit.org/declaration/

02.01.2022 Following a horror summer of bushfires in Australia we are realising that the way we have previously approached building in bushfire prone areas does not adequately address the future threats we face. Join us at 7pm on Wednesday 29th April for the video premiere as Emilis Prelgauskas takes us through a whole range of measures which can help to increase the resilience of our community in bushfire situations. Please note that the presentation will be a pre-recorded video in wh...ich questions will be gathered for a separate Q&A session with Emilis at a later time. // Presentation This talk will reveal the complicated nature of the question on how to create the most bushfire resilient properties both in areas that have historically been at risk, as well as areas we have not previously considered. It will advocate for a whole of community approach to developing resilience, utilising the concept of fire fitness to describe measures well beyond clearing a few trees and attempting to utilise materials that are fire-rated in buildings. Emilis will highlight specific approaches, with several case studies, to be taken by architects and other professionals, as well as home-owners to improve their chances of resilience in bushfire events. Whilst there is no such thing as a bushfire proof home in many areas, there are vast improvements that can be made in how we approach our preparations for the inevitable increasing intensity of these fires. // Speaker During bushfires Emilis Prelgauskas steps up to provide logistics support to veterinarians in the South Australian Tier 2 animal triage agency SAVEM.
