24.01.2022 Greetings one and all There is much talk and discussion around the Coronavirus in traditional and social media, ranging from the end of the world to it being not much worse than the flu. We have seen an impact on financial markets, which is to be expected during such geopolitical events such as these. For many of my clients, they are well experienced in such events, having lived (and survived) through the Asian Currency Crisis, the dot com bubble, GFC, Grexit, Brexit, the ...fear of the Trump election, the inverted yield curve etc etc. However, for those new to investing, I do appreciate that there may be some apprehension or questions as to what is occurring, and what action they should take. We build our portfolios, and greater investment strategies, to take into account these geopolitical events, which are a regular occurrence (although unpredictable). Attached is an overview of such matters, which I hope is useful. As always, if you have any questions, or you would like to discuss, please contact me at your convenience. Kindest regards, Glenn.

23.01.2022 Nice to meet you 7,000 points! Happy New Year one and all!!

23.01.2022 Great to see the Aussie market (All Ordinaries) back over 7,000 points. It was the 10th of January this year when we first hit this milestone, with the low being 4,564 on the 23rd of March. I was confident on a strong recovery, however I did not envisage reaching 7,000 points again in the same year. Before the media start saying that the market has finished the year where it began, and that investors have not had a return, the All Ordinaries index EXCLUDES dividends (ie. the rate of return has therefore been 4-6%, including franking credits, depending on the shares held). A little better than Cash I would suggest. If there is anyone who would like to start the conversation around building a robust portfolio, that can weather such events and come through the other side, please send us a private message.

22.01.2022 Here is our latest article, which has a 'tongue in cheek' title, but some valuable lessons on investing fundamentals. As always, please contact us if you wish to discuss, or you wish to get on board with Adept! https://www.adeptfinancial.com.au//Should-I-Sell-my-Shares

08.01.2022 Who would have thought, when they woke up on New Year's Day 2020, that they were in for the ride that was to be! A crash course in staying true to a long-term strategy...all who did so have been just fine. Here is a brief article, reviewing 2020, and the potential outlook for 2021.

08.01.2022 As widely expected and anticipated, the Reserve Bank of Australia has dropped the official interest rate to 0.5%, largely to combat the reduced economic activity caused by the latest Coronavirus; however it was also likely to happen to give the economy a ‘kick along’ after the bushfires and floods throughout our fair land. It is expected that other central banks will also continue/begin cutting interest rates. Share markets have reacted positively overnight and today, althoug...h not to suggest that we are through the immediate issue. Equities tend to react positively to interest rate decreases, all else being equal, due to the Discounted Cash Flow method of valuing shares, amongst other things. This should provide a little extra stimulus into the domestic economy, although I anticipate the volatility due to the Coronavirus will continue to impact markets, until certainty returns. As always, if you have any questions, please contact me at your convenience. Kindest regards, Glenn
