25.01.2022 Great points for violin/viola too!

25.01.2022 Teaching adults is different! Theres even a word for it: "andragogy," instead of "pedagogy." http://www.violinist.com/blog/Jimmiefiddle/20178/21374/

24.01.2022 Some great ideas for those fourth fingers from Nathan Cole ... Schradiek also has excellent finger exercises which focus on the fourth.

24.01.2022 Classes for 2018 commence next week - there are currently 2 groups on Thursday evening; 6pm for early level (some playing experience) and 7.30pm for intermediate players. Focus is on learning to play in a group, incorporating techniques necessary for playing the violin. There are a range of skills covered - aural, rhythm, shifting, tone, bowing .... and more! Groups are small and its a fun way to learn violin or viola that prepares you for playing in groups with friends, orchestras, fiddle clubs, and so on.

24.01.2022 Some good thoughts from very experienced to not-so-experienced ... such a wonderful thing to play music of any kind!

21.01.2022 Students learning Schradiecks first tude, which includes repeated patterns of sixteenth notes, often aim to play it with a sautill bow stroke at 144 beats per minute.

20.01.2022 Classes have started this term but its not too late to jump in! Early level playing ... a great way to learn skills needed to play with other people in an orchestra or ensemble and learn technique along the way!

19.01.2022 Some interesting comments!

16.01.2022 "My rusty skills are improving and I’m discovering that practice does make, if not perfect, at least better. And best of all, time has allowed me to eschew the perfectionism of my youth and enjoy making music for music’s sake (most of the time)."

01.01.2022 For the first time in Western Australia, Canadian folk-baroque duo Chris Norman (wooden flutes & smallpipes) and David Greenberg (baroque violin & Cape Breton f...iddle) will perform some very special concerts and lead inclusive & practical workshops. Concerts in Perth (20 Oct) and Albany (21 Oct) will feature a wonderful cross-over of Folk and Baroque music, including beautiful tunes from Nova Scotia and exciting sonatas by Telemann. With careers that include performing with Red Priest, Tafelmusik, Baltimore Consort and on the Titanic soundtrack, Chris Norman and David Greenbergs duo performances, with guest harpist Allan Evans, are not only note-perfect, gripping and virtuosic, but down-to-earth and utterly toe-tapping. Workshops in Perth (20 Oct) and Albany (22 Oct) are especially for players of wooden flute, Scottish smallpipes, violin and lever harp, plus metal flute, whistle, viola and cello are also welcome (all instruments A440, all levels). With a focus on Celtic-derived tunes, its a great chance to meet like-minded musos and practise learning music by ear, as well as focus on technique, rhythm, culture and fun.
