On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month 1918 the peace treaty or armistice was signed to mark the ending of the ‘Great War’ which raged from 1914 - 1918. Estimated Australian casualties were 210 000 with 61 519 deaths. In all 416 809 Australians enlisted - a huge total for a nation whose population then totalled under 5 million! Worldwide military & civilian deaths were estimated to be 40 million. Lest We Forget.
