25.01.2022 Equipment Feature - Treadmill As you may be aware, here at Advance Fitness Mandurah we have got a range of cardiovascular equipment for all members to use. One of the most popular pieces of equipment is the Treadmill! BUT did you know that there are multiple functions offered on this machine making your workout options more versatile???... Here are some ideas for yourself next time you are using the Treadmill to break that boring cardio workout! Depending on your fitness levels, here is a few options of workouts on the Treadmill: 1. Rolling Hills (walking or running) - try increasing the incline to a range that challenges you and maintain some decent speed. 2. Interval sprints - increase to a slightly uncomfortable pace (just out of your comfort zone) and maintain for either a certain distance or time (ie 250 metres or 30 seconds) then drop the speed back down into your personal comfort zone (but not too slow in which you are letting yourself cool down) 3. Distance intervals - to avoid your body adapting, try increasing your speed by small increments every 250 metres or so Try these different settings on the treadmill to add variety and increase your overall cardiovascular fitness, feel free to see us at the front desk for more advice :)

Here is a tip to help with that If you are getting hungry in the middle of the three main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) try eating unsalted/unflavoured nuts ... Despite being tasty, they are full of natural fats as well. Theyre loaded with magnesium, vitamin E, and fiber. Ultimately helping weight loss due to the low absorption rate of calories!

08.01.2022 Exercise Demonstration! Overtime, everyone gets sloppy with their technique and that is perfectly normal! We will discuss how to perform a push-up with perfect technique and maximise your results from this exercise Push-ups are beneficial for building upper body strength. They work the triceps, pectoral muscles, and shoulders! ... How to do a perfect push up: 1. Get down on all fours, placing your hands slightly wider than your shoulders. 2. Straighten your arms and legs. 3. Lower your body until your chest nearly touches the floor. 4.Pause, then push yourself back up. 5. Repeat. For those of you who struggle on their toes, do all the above but perform it on your knees. You can always start with this technique then try on the toes once you are that bit stronger :) If you would like to try this exercise and maybe add to your routine come see a friendly member of staff who can help!

As we all know, keeping a good diet is one of the hardest things to do One of the biggest factors that cuase this difficulty is the idea of a strictly only salad diet is the only way to diet. THIS IS NOT TRUE! Dont be afraid to mix up the foods you are eating ... No single food will provide you with all the nutrients your body requires for good health. A dietary pattern needs to include a variety of choices from each of the five food groups vegetables; fruit; grain (cereal) foods; lean meats and poultry, fish, eggs, nuts and seeds and legumes/beans; and milk, yoghurt, cheese and/or alternatives Reviews of studies of a range of eating patterns suggest that: - higher quality diet is associated with reduced morbidity - the negative health effects tend to be greater in those with lower quality diets, such as men, young people and people with lower educational and socioeconomic status - consuming a dietary intake pattern consistent with national dietary guidelines or other scientifically informed recommendations is associated with reduced morbidity and mortality As always if you have any questions, dont be afraid to ask the staff at the front desk
07.01.2022 Lets get more of our lovely Advance Fitness members using our brand new punching bag Throwing a few quick jabs at a punching bag may not seem too hard, but if youve never used a heavy bag during a boxing workout, youre in for a challenge!!! Most heavy punching bags weigh between 50 and 150 pounds. So every time you lay into the bag, your fist, foot, or knee is met with significant resistance. The initial (and somewhat unexpected) impact can be a bit jarring, and it wont... take long to realize you cant get away with throwing soft punches. You have to engage your entire body, including your core, shoulders, and hips, to effectively control your movements as you hit the bag. Of course, any exercise that requires this type of total-body engagement can help you torch calories and strengthen your major muscle groups. Even more than that, though, boxing against a heavy bag (or an actual person) is one of the only cardiovascular exercises that provides upper body, bone-building repetitive impact! 03.01.2022 Trainer Tip! A common habit in the gym is forgetting the TUT rule TUT stands for Time Under Tension which means slowing down the exercise movement rather than increasing weight. ... When abiding by the TUT rule you will see a massive improvement with your muscle strength as you are keeping the tension in your muscle for a longer period of time Not only will you see your strength improve but you will also see that your ability to control the exercise movement improve in quality as well!!! When performing you exercise movement, we recommend that you take 3 seconds to exert force and then 3 seconds releasing Next time youre training, try and implement TUT into your workout and watch your progress rapidly grow!
