23.01.2022 AGDA has decided to fall into line with the government advice on restricting public gatherings for the foreseeable future, to stem the spread of the COVID-19. The event planned for 26th March at Plant 4 Bowden, Culture Before Creativity, will be postponed until after the restrictions are lifted. We anticipate this to be sometime in May. In the meantime we will be investigating ways of live streaming content so that our community is still able to engage with each other and sha...re ideas and inspiration during these difficult times. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

21.01.2022 What a year this has been so far, hey? It seems like everyone is reassessing their place in the world, which opens up new possibilities and opportunities for c...hange. While everyone is in lockdown, we've been thinking about what we should do with the AGDA Design Awards this year. Would a design awards program be something that would offer some positive light during a difficult time, or would they seem frivolous and unimportant in the context of what design businesses are going through? Is there scope for a revised awards that includes some free entry categories and a 100% remotely judged program? Or are there other ways of doing this? We'd love to get your feedback so we can integrate it into our plans. Take care and stay the f*ck home. Nic Eldridge AGDA CEO & Awards Co-ordinator

13.01.2022 Developed by Never Not Creative, @youngbloodsaustralia and @mentallyhealthyasutralia, ‘Asking For A Friend’ exists to make it easier for creatives to ask the un-askable. Wherever you are, tune in on the first Thursday of each month to get help, or just listen to the answers to your friends, colleagues and peers questions. The next event takes place on Thursday and is focused on Empathy in the Workplace, with advice from Laura Aldington, CEO of @hosthavas and Psychologist Mi...chael Hines. Thursday 3 September, 12:30PM AEST Register for the event at nevernotcreative.org/asking-for-a-friend ********** Read below for more from the team behind Asking For A Friend We all know that asking for a friend is an easier way to ask a tough question. So once a month we’re going to allow anyone anywhere to ask for a friend, to an industry leader, and a psychologist, anonymously, and online. Our industry can be a tough place. While we know how rewarding it can be, we’re also more than aware of how challenging it can be. When times are tough, who can we turn to? Of course, we hope we can turn to each other. But, when your question is, I don’t think I can cope, what should I do? you might keep it yourself and suffer in silence, fearful of how you’ll be treated or the opportunities you might miss out on.

03.01.2022 Some sad news to share today, Ms Rita Siow passed away over the weekend. Rita has been a vital member of the AGDA team since our inception in 1988. The impact she has made on AGDA over these three decades has been far reaching as a state and national councilor for 7 years, General Manager/Executive Director for 14 years, and most recently as the Chair of the AGDA Hall of Fame committee. She also established the 'Design Effectiveness' category in the AGDA Awards which focuse...s on celebrating measurable and client focused graphic design. AGDA simply would not be where it is today without Rita’s significant contribution, passion, and enthusiasm. She is irreplicable and will be very much missed. On behalf of our Regional Councils, AGDA Operations team, and the AGDA Board of Directors both past and present, we pass on our condolences and best wishes to her family, friends, colleagues, and anyone lucky enough to know her. Vale Rita.
