22.01.2022 Our excursions to the fish farm and ecology centre in the school provide wonderful opportunities for discovery, curiosity and wonder. Recently, children helped to feed the turtle and observed the bearded dragons and species of fish. They made connections between what they were observing and their own understandings. For example, "turtles eat fish for breakfast but I eat porridge". They also noticed details about the animals such as the "rough skin" on the dragon and "long tails" on the hopping mice.
19.01.2022 BOOK WEEK Last week we celebrated the magic of books. Some children participated in an interactive author talk 'Sneaky Puss Goes Exploring' through the Salisbury Library Service and viewed a live performance titled 'The Latest Discovery' with Holy Family Reception/Year 1 classes. On Friday we dressed up in our favourite costume and took part in the school parade. What a wonderful week of learning and fun it was!

11.01.2022 Last week we held our first Alive Community Breakfast from 7am in our dining room. Families and caregivers were invited to collect a freshly baked muffin (made by our cook Liza) and a take away tea or coffee to start their day. This morning provided a beautiful opportunity to connect with families and caregivers and build our sense of belonging and community. We love working in partnership with our families.
06.01.2022 Our kitchen and dining room are learning environments and our preschool cooking program supports children learn skills and knowledge for life. This week children have been learning to make butter cookies, with our wonderful cook Liza. Children have been making the dough by measuring and mixing ingredients then rolling and shaping the dough before baking. They have also been learning how to clean and wash up after cooking. What a rich learning experience!
