19.01.2022 You know when you take a youngster in the pool and they can’t swim? You stay near them, you make sure they don’t go too deep and you catch them when they jump in. You may even ask others to look out with you. But in any case, everyone can see the water, everyone can see that you have a little one, and they automatically understand that you will be watchful and without even thinking, they will too. They would know when to raise the alarm because the threat of drowning is rea...lly easy to see and understand. For allergy parents though, not a lot of others see the threats. Not everyone knows that you are on careful guard now and all the time, not just at the pool. Not everyone understands or automatically knows when to raise the alarm. They may even think you’re neurotic, obsessed, unsociable and over protective, and well you might be! But it’s not that we want to be unsociable, and it’s not that it’s fun to be on high alert, it’s just that we’re on pool guard. All. The. Time. To our friends and family that ‘get’ us, we know when you try to help us with this and we thank you. We love it when you try to make food safe, your home safe and outings safe. We love others that see our threats, join us in the guard and we appreciate it more than you know. More than we sometimes show... probably because we’re too busy keeping an eye on that pool.
