24.01.2022 Great result today, after much lobbying, the Minister for Water, the Hon. Keith Pitt has announced that the MDBA will be split in two, as the Productivity Commission recommended and so many in the community have asked for. The Minister has also committed that no more water will be recovered from the consumptive pool. The Murray Darling Communities Investment package will help us move forward and get better outcomes from the plan with greater accountability. ... 11.01.2022 One of the highlights of the last month, through all the distress and pain that these border closures have caused, is that for some, there has been a great outcome. David was one of those people. With a rapidly growing brain tumor, David had travelled to Sydney for emergency surgery with Professor Charlie Teo. Unfortunately David and his young family were required to quarantine in a hotel, despite the Professor warning that 2 weeks may make the tumour inoperable. I took Dav...id's case straight to the PM. This photo is of the PM telling me in parliament, that David had come out of a successful surgery. Stories like Davids make me more determined to fight for commonsense and compassion. There is so much more work to do. Our postcode should not determine our healthcare. The Order extends the critical service (agriculture) class of permit to allow: ... -NSW residents to re-enter NSW after travelling 100km into Victoria (other than in a restricted area or COVID-19 area of concern) to provide certain critical agriculture services, without having to fly to Sydney and enter mandatory quarantine as a returning NSW resident. -Victorians to move within Victoria (other than in a restricted area or COVID-19 area of concern) and remain eligible to travel up to 100km into NSW to provide critical agriculture services. A full list of restricted areas and area of concern are available on the NSW Government website. Under the critical service (agriculture) permit, a https://www.nsw.gov.au//what-you-can-a/border-restrictions must: -not be able to be provided remotely -not be available within a 100km radius in the State where the service is to be provided. 10.01.2022 LET THE FUEL FLOW Today I had the pleasure of opening the new Minyip Fuel Bowser and meeting all the locals involved in the project. This has been a community led project to address the need for fuel in the town. Minyip was without fuel for at least 18 months and locals were required to travel half an hour for this basic need.... The project is a credit to all involved, including Don Orr and Marie Milgate of the Minyip Progress Association, the Project Manager Ray White, Graeme Massey, Mayor of Yarriambiack Shire Council, Bonney Energy, as well as the local community bank. It’s another great example of community collaboration. The Morrison-McCormack Government contributed $101,000 to this project through the Drought Communities Program. 07.01.2022 Are we there yet? In short, no. The roadmap requires fine tuning and transparency for Regional Victorians. We need a targeted approach, not a blanket approach to managing COVID going forward. However, it is good to see the announcement of the State Government Business Support Fund 3 today, where eligible businesses with payrolls of up to $10m are expected to receive grants of $10,000, $15,000 or $20,000 depending on their size.... Hospitality businesses including bars, restaurants, pubs, clubs, hotels and reception centres will receive grants of between $10,000 and $30,000 from a $251m dedicated licenced venue fund. Liquor license fees will be waived for 2021. Good for Mallee pub and restaurant owners who have contacted me. However, beauticians, hairdressers, independent retailers, tourism operators, small cafes, restaurants and tradies are yet to hear of relief as sole traders. Payroll tax will be deferred for businesses with payrolls up to $10 million for the full 2020-21 financial year. Ashton Kreuzer also told me how vital it is for Paddleboats and tourism. Delainy Chiswell wrote to me this week and said Fishing, watching the sunset and peaceful time in nature are so beneficial to mental health... And Fred* says COVID restrictions...impact me by not being able to get out the bush and camp,fis...hing and return to normality after a long weeks work...this is my time to relax after having to provide support for vulnerable people in the community. 06.01.2022 Our Government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic helped to bring forward a 10-year plan on telehealth within 10 days. Now, more than $2 billion has been invested to extend a range of COVID-19 health measures, including telehealth. Meeting with the Deledio Park Sports Committee was a fantastic opportunity to hear about the enthusiasm in the Dunolly community for their sporting clubs....
