12.01.2022 Izmir Founded by the Greeks, taken over by the Romans, rebuilt by Alexander the Great and then becoming part of the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century, Izmir ...is a city on Turkey’s Aegean coast in the western part of Turkey. A modern city, rich in history. And not only for its ancient roots, Izmir is also known for many facets of its contemporary culture. It is the third largest city of Turkey. Worth visiting places: Konak Square - It is considered the center of Izmir. Symbol of Izmir the famous Clock Tower, is built in this square. 120 years ago, this Clock Tower was built as a gift to Sultan Abdulhamid. And, do not forget to take a photo and feed the pigeons which are flying and landing all around the square. Kemeralt Market - A Byzantine times built market worth to walk around. It might be crowded but still very interesting. Pay a visit and feel the Turkish spirit. Alsancak - One of the most beautiful areas in Izmir. Here you can enjoy many restaurants and pastry shops. This area is also a great neighborhood to have a walk near the seaside. Here you can see some traditional Greek houses (terraced double-storey houses). The paved road is quite picturesque and is perfect for photoshooting. In this area, you can also find the Ataturk Museum. Asansor - A historical building in Izmir's Karatas quarter. In fact this building is an an elevator and a view point for people to go up and have the views around. It was built in 1907. Here you will have incredible views, specially when it’s a sunny day. The Asansor has a cafe-restaurant on top where you can enjoy a coffee. Once you are in Izmir, must try the traditional coffee and tea & mulles cooked in many versions. Visit, and enjoy much more.
