23.01.2022 It looks like a top Spring in Euroa! The Euroa Arboretum is a tribute to community work and a lovely spot to stop when travelling up the Hume Highway.

22.01.2022 Imagine farmers spraying out pasture grasses to plant native seeds....

22.01.2022 I've got a gig on Amy Mullins' program Uncommon Sense on 3RRRFM at around 11:10 am tomorrow (Tuesday 18th), talking about all things native grasslands. They sent me this "Foreground" article published last year as a bit of background (interesting sentence, that one). I was not aware of it - but it's a great contribution, I think. Please enjoy.

21.01.2022 If you've never explored Boaz Ng's excellent blog on carnivorous plants, I can highly recommend it. A brilliant mix of science, travel and stunning photography. This blog looks at the complexities around identifying Fairy's Aprons (Utricularia spp.) https://www.fierceflora.com/comparing-utricularia-dichotom/

17.01.2022 Native plants indoors?

17.01.2022 The Royal Botanic Garden Victoria Science Facebook page is a good one to follow. They do excellent work behind the scenes in saving and growing rare species of Australian plants.

17.01.2022 iNaturalist is a great community doing important work and loving it! Check it out below. APS Keilor Plains members feature in the Natureshare project. Its wonderful to see all Russell Bests observations from Natureshare going up on iNaturalist (managed posthumously by Gill Williams and Chris Lindorff). Natureshare is now a "project" on iNaturalist at this link. Why not give it a go. https://inaturalist.ala.org.au//natureshare-victoria-austr

13.01.2022 Focus always used to be on getting local forms correct - now it's all about translocation to boost genetic diversity of climate-stressed trees. Similar experiment being done at RBG Melbourne: http://www.theage.com.au//a-genetic-helping-hand-for-our-n

13.01.2022 Looking forward to getting back together!

13.01.2022 Doing anything interesting this coming Friday night (7.30pm AEST on Fri 26th June 2020)? If youre spending the night at home in front of the TV, grab your fav...ourite beverage and watch ABC Gardening Australia. While youre watching you will see a segment on Rosella Rise, and me - Deb McMillan - aka Deb Mc. If you are busy on Friday, the show repeats on the following Sunday at 1.30pm. Or you can always catch up on Iview . I hope you enjoy it. See more

10.01.2022 Our city waterways are very important places - the Merri Creek has been rehabilitated over 30 years, with great campaigns to keep it wild, revegetate and even shift freeways to save it. The Friends of Merri Creek do a fine job and this event they are promoting looks very interesting. https://www.facebook.com//a.139913232753/3294027124008483/

02.01.2022 Sunday afternoon challenge

02.01.2022 The WA herbarium have vowed to name 50 new plants this year - this is #44, found near a mine site (ironically, plants are often found when mining companies have to survey the land before they dig it up...) Anyhoo, this plant was co-named by Dr Trevor Wilson, who spoke on the first of three free webinars that are replacing the FJC Rogers seminar this year - don't miss next Thursday's speaker Maria Hitchcock OAM, who will talk on Propagation, cultivation, & essential oils of Prostanthera & Westringia. Register online at the APS Vic website.

01.01.2022 The WA herbarium is naming 50 new plants this year to mark the 50th anniversary of its journal, Nuytsia. Worth following on FB for the wonderful discoveries being revealed
