24.01.2022 I gave Kirsty the challenge yesterday to work on her core and balance with Cassidy. The more you can engage and work your core muscles whilst riding, the better balance and position in the saddle you can achieve. This can be particularly strenuous for 45 minutes straight, but like the queen she is Kirsty nailed it, with only a few 'you've got to be joking' looks thrown my way

24.01.2022 Deb Carson and her Waler bred horse Grassbrook Bronyslav are saddling up once again for this years ANZAC day tribute. The Bluewater community are lucky to have this happen in our streets. If your in the area, be sure to head to Mawson St, Bluewater Drive or Forestry Road between 7.30 and 8.30am on Saturday to show your support for Deb, her friend and fellow member of the Light Horse Brigade, Erin Mcguffie, and the beautiful Brony as they ride to commemorate

23.01.2022 Boy oh boy. What a beautifully busy BUSY week its been! After a enforced break by the weather gods themselves, we are back in horse riding mode. I've loved seeing the progress with fresh eyes of Alyssa and Skyla in their lessons this week. Fresh horses, fresh riders, weather in the 30's and 80% humidity has made it interesting that's for sure!

21.01.2022 When do all the skills you pick up in riding lessons come into action? I mean sure, we work on getting better and better every time we are taught. We listen to our coaches and actively try to change our position, aids and thoughts in an effort to become overall better horse men and women. But where does it all really come into play?... Its moments like this beach ride All these amazing people have let me come along on their personal development journeys. I'm so very grateful for the lessons you all have taught me this year. I could not of had a better morning. Thankyou for being a part of it! APH IS PROUDLY SPONSORED BY FEED2GO #morethanjustafeedstore #Hygain #FeedingChampions #fueledbyfeed2go Cast and Crew for 2020's Ride Out Alyssa (and Argo in Spirit x) Sklya and Mitzi Becca and Buck Kirsty and Cassidevil Misha and Satara Huge thanks goes to ground crew Camille, Danni, Jona, Marta, Alyssa and Bardon for their support!!!

21.01.2022 As much as I love coaching, I love training horses even more. This weekend's challenge has been teaching a 5 year old Arabian mare to accept a rider under saddle. This quick video is of Ambers second ride out of the round yard and learning that going forward is a nice place to go

19.01.2022 The place I call home is on this horses back 13 months off... first ride back... long toes and a grass belly but still the best horse I'll ever ride #GorgeousGeorge #Australianstockhorse #wevestillgotit #13yearstogtherandgoingstrong

18.01.2022 We have had some strange wet weather for winter up here in NQ... but that won't stop us! Becca and her sweet little Quater Horse Buck were practicing a whole heap of different riding methods whilst going around the barrel pattern yesterday... Great control Becca!

17.01.2022 Skyla has been trying SO hard to trot independently so she can get cantering aswell. She tells me every week how much she wants to be a trick rider like the girls off Heartland The deal we have made is when she can trot outside the round yard on her own, with balance, steering and control we can start to get ready for cantering. Check out her and Mitzi's brilliant work on Thursday afternoon I just love this kids attitude to her horse and her riding

17.01.2022 The struggle is real...

17.01.2022 Gemma and Nitro picked up a little extra mojo this morning A common mistake we all make as riders is trying to find balance in our horses tempo by slowing them down. Nitro is a young and a little sassy at times thoroughbred gelding. Gemma re discovered today that if she sends him forward, engaging his hindquaters and riding him front of her leg he instantly becomes more balanced, connected and softer to ride. Well done in your lesson today Gemma - great riding

16.01.2022 I just love working horses over poles.... Only a few years ago a coach at Pony Club re-introduced the importance of ground pole work (cheers Ro ) I havnt looked back (or down ) since Do you want to improve your horses paces? Poles help Do you want to improve your riding accuracy? Poles help... Do you want to challenge yourself on the flat? Poles help Do you want to learn to count strides? Poles help Do you want to slow your horse down, speed your horse up, or even out your tempo??? Pole work is such a simple way to spice up your flat work whilst stimulating and testing your mount Riding credits to Camille and Why Waltz Roxanne See more

15.01.2022 We are so excited that events are coming back on the calender! Skyla and Nana Mitzi are learning the course for the 'Running Tee'

11.01.2022 The wet cleared just in time for Alyssa and Argo to have their lesson this morning. Alyssa is showing a soft seat, soft hand and clear commands with Argo's walk to canter transitions

11.01.2022 Check out this video of Skyla and Mitzi kicking goals in their lesson on Thursday Skyla is gaining more confidence through working on her riding position and control of Mitzi outside of the round yard. These two make me smile every time I have the pleasure of coaching them

11.01.2022 We don't just do circles!!! Kirsty and Cassidy over come some initial nerves to ride in out of this drain today... A good trot down the road is a great way to put into practice the things we have learnt in previous flatwork lessons

10.01.2022 Heres a video of Kirsty and Cassidy warming up with some leg yielding in their lesson yesterday. showing great confidence and communication

10.01.2022 Its week three back in training for this friesan sport horse 'Morse Code' He has shown softness and suppleness through his progress, and there is a fantastic brain in his pretty little buckskin head that will make him a serious competition mount in the not so distant future #friesiansporthorse #fueledbyfeed2go #hygainhorse #FeedingChampions #watchthisspace #goodboymoose

09.01.2022 For the big and little girls, men and boys out there...

08.01.2022 Counting your horses strides is one way to help with rythm and balance across walk trot and canter. Skyla is doing a top job with gaining more of an independent seat on Mitzi. Her rising trot is getting stronger every time we meet

08.01.2022 Misha has been working so hard to teaching her young mare Satara all the aids and commands that make a great riding horse. The metaphor about a strong foundation makes a strong house applies to training horses so accurately. Wednesday's lesson has Misha and Satara focusing on starting collection in the walk, pole grids and upwards/downwards transitions. We finished up with leg yielding down the fence which is a great cool down exercise teaching Satara to move away from the ...pressure Misha applies with her leg. Misha had a friend of mine watching on for this lesson. I was so thrilled to hear at the end her comments ' wow, she is such a natural on that horse' Well done Misha, you make it look easy Kiddo

08.01.2022 Working with different horses can help you as a rider understand the aids you give your horse. Alot of the time you need to think and adjust your style to suit the equine your mounted on. Alyssa had so much fun borrowing Mitzi off her daughter on Sunday to feel just how different she is to Alyssa's horse Argo. Mitzi tends to turn her 'sass' up a few levels when an adult rides her. We certainly had a few laughs working on turning that back down again. ... Alyssa's seat, cool and calm attitude and natural balance shone bright as she rode Mitzi through exercises she hadn"t done with her before, in a dressage saddle she hadn't sat in before Awsome work!

05.01.2022 Misha and I decided to put some practice into practical on Saturday afternoon and go for a trail ride. Happened to find a nice little log to jump, some hills and a very small pocket of water for a splash in. Great riding Misha

05.01.2022 Remember the gorgeous little 5 year Arabian Amber? Her owner Mandy and I have been working with her under saddle over the last few weeks. Arabs are renowned for the intelligence and this little girl is no exception. She is smart, and very sweet Here is a video of Mandy riding Amber in 'the big paddock'

05.01.2022 Sneaky little gloat post!!! During the Covid pandemic shut down of all equestrian events, Deb and Brony entered the State Waler Association Championships... to come away with Reserve Champion under saddle!!! Amazing Work!!!
