10.01.2022 this weeks tip!

08.01.2022 Are you really making decisions for you customer?? I often hear owners complaining that it is quiet and not busy. Are you prepared to change the way you do things to meet your clients needs? Your customer might be working 6 days a week, leaving at 7am and getting home at 6pm. How are you going to make it easier for them to come to you? Perhaps it might be time to do a customer survey to find out what your customer "looks like". Asks us how!

08.01.2022 The 3 basic elements your team will think about when you are trying to implement something new. 1) The attractiveness or worth of the outcome (What will I get?).... 2) What is the probability that my performance will give me the outcome?(If I do it will I get the reward?) 3) If I put in all this work will I really get the job done properly? (Can I do it?) Train, encourage, reward, motivate and lead your team to achieve goals! See more

07.01.2022 Competitive advantage through people requires a relationship between business strategies and people. The strategies must include the maintenance and support for short term strategies and also provide a platform on which new strategies can be built. Achieving short term delivery goals must not be at the expense of long term capability. For example continually rewarding short term wins may prevent innovation and change in a business. Where businesses fail is that HR strategies are out of line with business strategies, people competency and behaviours are out of line with either HR or business strategies and the business strategies are failing to capitalise on the strengths of the organisations capabilities.

05.01.2022 Albert Einstein "it's not that I am so smart, I just stay with problems longer". Avoiding problems will not make them go away. If you have an issue in your business, sit down and decide how you are going to improve it. Use a quality control process to help you break the issue down into small achievable goals and get others in your team to help you.

03.01.2022 Performance management aims to improve organisational function and individual performance by linking the objectives of each. Performance appraisal should not be used as a management technique to reward people you like and punish those employees you dislike. Appraisals should be based on if people are doing what is required to achieve organisational goals. Performance should incorporate job design, recruitment, training and development, career planning and compensation and benefits in addition to the performance appraisals.
