19.01.2022 One of the things we pride ourselves on at ASPIRE is providing an environment where the children can experience a wide range of activity types. This vacation care we have had a number of external providers come in to enhance our programs, and outside of that our fantastic team of educators have facilitated wheels days, child-planned and driven performances, a round robin of activities that challenged fine, gross motor skills and cognitive abilities. Have you booked your spot yet? Holidays is nearly over!

19.01.2022 Sometimes in art, we like to consider the process more than the outcome. The children at St Pauls today were shown Vincent van Goghs The Starry Night (1889) and learned a bit about the painting. If you dont know about this famous piece, Van Gogh painted the view from his asylum room window just before dawn - not what I was expecting! We asked the children to consider painting what they might see if they looked out their window and left them to it - with some wide and var...ied results. It was pretty fantastic to talk to them about their art afterwards and observe their expressions as they showed me their work - my personal favourites being the concept of the sun through the trees (incompleted because the artist wasnt happy with it!) and the drawing of the sunset over a house on fire during the recent NSW bushfire crisis. Cool, hey? - Darren https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Starry_Night

18.01.2022 ASPIRE OSHC St Pauls rounded off the holiday period with a visit from our new friends at Sydney Science Education with an informative and hands on program called Sustainability Starts with You! In this great program the children got to witness first hand the effect that people polluting can have over time by slowly adding material over the course of the program. All agreed they would not drink the water. Together we made a bug hotel - this will go nicely in our garden in T...erm 3! Thanks go to Fundayout for organising another fun learning experience for us

17.01.2022 This morning some of the St Pauls crew had the opportunity to learn about fire safety, courtesy of Cawdor Rural Fire Service. A different type of professional development, this was an informative session and very hands on. Definitely gave us an opportunity to think about the emergency drills we carry out quarterly and how we can improve. It was a nice break from the PD we usually do, and a fun day all round.... Darren

16.01.2022 Here at Sherpa Kids Narellan, we have always prided ourselves on our name and we have always served our community in the best way with our children being our number 1 priority. Well, we are pleased to announce that we have a name change. We are pleased to announce our new name is now:... ASPIRE OSHC Rest assured that the quality of our services will continue to be the same, as its only a name change. Staff, programs and hours of operations will remain the same. Before School Care: We open from 7:00am until school staff come on duty (St Pauls 8.35am & CPS 8.45am) where we drop off the children to the supervised playground for morning play. During this time, we offer them a heathy breakfast (cereals and milk, toast with butter, fruits etc). They also get the chance to play some of their favourite games & activities, both indoor and outdoor, with their friends before starting their school day. After School Care: After School Care commences at 3.10pm with roll call at our meeting point at St Pauls. Children have a short period of time to play and get out the energy stored from being in the classroom for the last 2 hours. Students wishing to complete any homework tasks can utilise this time to do that. After this we commence afternoon tea with our healthy and yummy variety of snacks and delicious seasonal fruits. From around 4.10pm our program time begins. We have 3 program groups, Kindy program, Juniors (years 1 4) and seniors (years 5 & 6). Our programs are designed in line with the childrens interest and incorporate various themes that are pertinent at different times of the year, eg Easter, Mothers Day, NAIDOC week etc. Program time runs for around 30 mins after which the children can choose to continue this in a less structured way or they have free time with supervised activities both inside and outside. Ultimately, our service ensures that whatever we do the children have great fun in a relaxed, yet stimulating environment. Children can be picked up anytime throughout the afternoon, giving parents much needed flexibility. We close at 6.00pm. Holiday Care: Our wonderful holiday programs are out around mid-term each term and include a variety of excursions, incursions and centre-based days. Our holiday care starts at 7.00am daily and closes at 6.00pm. For any further details and enrolments please do not hesitate to call Darren Brisbane, Program Manager 0438 881 585

11.01.2022 At St Pauls this week some of our vegetables were accidentally removed from the garden - but it resulted in a pretty cool look at how carrots and beetroot grow. So far ours are not at all like the ones you see on the shelves at the supermarket! They also taste SO good. Weve also had plenty of opportunity to eat snow peas, radishes, and our broccoli have started sprouting which is super exciting.... Not long now before we can do a proper harvest. - Darren

07.01.2022 ASPIRE OSHC and our Centres have Covid-19 safety measures in place to keep our Staff, Children and Families safe. Below are some measure regarding children and our Covid-19 safety in our centres: Children will continue to be provided with education and encouragement on proper hand washing techniques, the importance of not touching the face and regular use of non-alcohol based sanitiser. Education around good respiratory hygiene, meaning covering your mouth and nose with ...your bent elbow or tissue when you need to cough or sneeze (dispose of any tissues immediately). Distancing can be challenging with children, but we are encouraging it by limiting large group activities, staggering afternoon tea and hand washing routines in small groups, encouraging outdoor play where possible, limited shared resources, and encouraging children to maintain personal space and to avoid close contact. Please pack your child their own drink bottle We will still continue to provide food under strict procedures and minimal handling Parents and Carers how can you help us? Keeping children home if they have flu like symptoms Getting a covid test before returning to our centre after flu like symptoms Where possible limit the amount of people entering our school sites during drop off and pick up times

06.01.2022 Every so often the team at St Pauls are challenged by the students. Sometimes we are challenged by our team mates. Every time we rise to the occasion. This afternoons 40 metre sprint was wrought with false starts, but each of us gave our best!... - Darren

04.01.2022 The current situation with Covid-19 has been a stressful one that all of us have been managing together this year. With school holidays in full swing and reports of positive cases in our area this week, we wanted to take a minute to update our families and friends on the precautions that our teams at St Paul's and St John's are taking to ensure that your children, our educators, and you are kept as safe as possible. ASPIRE OSHC is a registered COVID Safe business with a COVID...-19 Safety Plan in place. This safety plan includes things like: 1) sending home any child or adult who presents unwell at our services, and requiring families with sick children to keep them at home 2) our staff teams have completed Covid-19 Infection Control Training https://www.health.gov.au//covid-19-infection-control-trai 3) hand sanitiser is available in various places around the service, including at the entry, where children wash hands, and in admin spaces where children are signed in and out 4) toys are washed daily 5) tables, chairs, toilets, sinks, and door handles are wiped down with disinfectant hourly by staff assigned specifically to cleaning 6) all of our team has been encouraged to download and use the COVIDSafe app 7) contact details for everyone who has attended our sites are recorded, be it parents, staff, contractors, or external providers bringing awesome activities to the children in our care. It's a tough time for many of us, so let's remember to be kind and manage COVID-19 together. We ask that anyone who has potentially come into contact with positive cases or is feeling unwell please follow the guidance from NSW Health and please get tested and self-isolate if necessary. 01.01.2022 At ASPIRE OSHC St Pauls we have a pretty cool garden that the children helped plant and maintain while schools were in home learning mode at the height of COVID-19. What started out as a couple of fruit trees advanced quickly to carrots, radishes, broccoli, mint, and snow peas. We acquired some Star Wars themed garden ornaments, and we even built a cymbal feature that the children can play - it also sounds pretty cool in the rain! The most recent addition to our garden is ...a workbench that Mr Lincoln built. It is by far the favourite work space at ASPIRE OSHC St Pauls this week! - Darren
