25.01.2022 Got some bananas, flour and eggs from Assist? Why not make blueberry banana bread? It's perfect for snack or dessert which also can be frozen for later use! Thanks to our volunteer Cadence for the recipe :) INGREDIENTS 2 cups all-purpose flour (and 1 tsp to coat blueberries)... 3/4 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp kosher salt 1 cup granulated sugar 1/4 cup butter (softened) 1 cup mashed ripe bananas 2 eggs 1/3 cup vanilla or plain yogurt 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups blueberries (plus a bit more for topping) Cooking spray INSTRUCTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 180'C. 2. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl. 3. Place granulated sugar and butter in a large bowl; beat with a mixer at medium speed until fluffy. 4. Add mashed banana, eggs, yogurt and vanilla; beat until blended. Add flour mixture and beat at low speed until moist. 5. Place blueberries in a bowl and coat with 1 tsp of flour. 6. Gently fold blueberries into batter. Spoon batter into an 8.5 x 4.5-inch loaf pan coated with cooking spray. Press additional blueberries on top for decoration. 7. Bake for 60-70 minutes; test by inserting a wooden pick in the centre - it should come out clean. 8. Cool bread for 10 minutes on wire rack before removing from pan.

06.01.2022 We are so excited to welcome Pinchapoo as the newest member of the Assist family! Their hygiene packs will be available from our centre starting TOMORROW! Pinchapoo (slang for pinch-a-shampoo) was founded by Kate Austin 11 years ago and works to redistribute personal hygiene products to those who need it most. Having experienced domestic violence, Kate left home as a teenager and remembers the only item that she took with her - a toothbrush. Years later she thought of tho...se who were facing similar situations and wanted to find a way that she could make a difference, just like that toothbrush had made a difference for her. Then one day whilst using a mini shampoo that had been 'pinched' from a hotel, the idea for Pinchapoo was born. Pinchapoo is now the biggest national not-for-profit supplier of personal hygiene products and works with over 500 leading organisations, community groups and government institutions. We are thrilled to have you on board! For more information about Pinchapoo and their amazing work: https://www.pinchapoo.org.au/
