The Australian Embassy Tokyo hosted the first sessions this afternoon, starting off with an excellent panel on Media, Policy and Politics. 16.01.2022 The call for Foundation for Australia-Japan Studies (FAJS) Rio Tinto Australia-Japan Collaboration 2021 grant program Expressions of Interest opens between today until 30 September 2020. The FAJS mission is to encourage collaborations between academic institutions, industry and government in Australia and Japan and to support people who are transforming the bilateral relationship through these partnerships. Rio Tinto Australia-Japan Collaboration program grants will have both industry and university partners and are a great opportunity to start up new projects or extend existing ones with Japanese and Australian counterparts. 15.01.2022 Today, 3 December is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (#IDPD). IDPD aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrates their achievements and contributions. AJF supports this aim for a more inclusive society for all people. Today we share with you three projects our Foundation is supporting for People with Disabilities. #IDPD2019 Paralympics Australia and Australia Para-athletes will conduct a community engagement program in Chuo Ward, Tokyo in 2020. Harumi Junior High School will be HQ for the Australian Paralympic team during the games, and will be a great supporter of. 13.01.2022 A very big thank you to Murray McLean AO, Chair of the Australia-Japan Foundation (AJF) for his service to the AJF and the broader Australia-Japan relationship as his time on the AJF Board comes to an end. Under Murrays leadership, the AJF has built awareness in Japan of Australia as a centre of excellence for education, science and technology, sports and the arts. During his time as Chair, the AJF has highlighted Australias cultural diversity and deepened people-to-people links between Australians and Japanese people.

Current board member Professor Veronica Taylor has been appointed as the inaugural AJF Deputy Chair. Mr Miller has a distinguished record of achievement in senior positions across government, including as Ambassador to Japan from 2011 to 2017 and as Director-General of the Office of National Assessments. He continues to contribute to the Australia-Ja...pan relationship in the corporate, cultural and university sectors. Ms Holdenson is Director and Executive Vice President of Mitsui & Co (Australia) Ltd, a global trade and investment enterprise. She has also served as Australian Consul-General in Fukuoka, Japan. The #AJF is an important part of Australia’s enduring friendship with Japan, and we look forward to continuing to deepen our bilateral relationship.

Assistance dogs or Service dogs support those with physical disabilities to perform everyday tasks. The service dogs pick up things, and retrieve them to their partners. Through their AJF project, Japan Service Dogs Association is working with Australian experts to transfer knowledge in bre...eding techniques to further advance the raising and training of pups. 01.01.2022 With the ongoing uncertainty COVID 19 has placed on activities and travel between Australia and Japan, the Australia-Japan Foundation (AJF) has decided to extend the application closing date for the 2020-21 AJF grant round to Tuesday, 14 April 2020. Questions regarding your application should be sent to the AJF no later than 9 April 2020 - noting Easter break 10-13 April. This extension is designed to give grant applicants sufficient time to give consideration to travel at a... later date or to develop non-travel related activities.
