24.01.2022 Today we have one of the newest players to share with you, Dr Roop Sharma. The Doc turned up to the 2018 Australian Championships to find out how he compares and not only competed strongly, but took out 3rd place. With a longest drive of 363m, the 31yr old attributes his power off the tee to his background of cricket and boxing, 2 sports where he has able to hit things as hard as possible. Unfortunately for a couple of mouthy South Africans, they got to witness the latter fi...rst hand in New Zealand. The Doc first played golf when he was in high school but didnt stick to it until 2014 when he started going to the range as a way to wind down after a week of looking after everyone else. In true Doctor form, when asked why he has stuck with golf he answered with "I love both the technical and mental aspects of the game and analysis required to facilitate ongoing improvement." Not too sure but i think this blokes a bit too bright for Long Drive, but hey, someone has to try lift the average I.Q. above 80. Roop is looking forward to training and having another go in 2019 and with a bit of luck he might even shout another round, or 10, after the event. See more

21.01.2022 With the weather looking this good, we are sure there is going to be some big numbers on a fantastic day. Dont forget to get ur entries in before the field is full. For all those that have sent entries in, keep an eye out through the week for the players pack being sent out. More details to come this week in the lead up to the event. There will also be a name change coming for this page. With this being the Tee off event for Millionaire Events lets give Australia a preview of things to come with more events being organised for next year.

19.01.2022 With this being the first and only long drive evnt of 2019, we are happy to announce we will be crowning the winner of this Saturdays Long Drive event as the Australian Champion for 2019 who will carry the crown going into the 2020 season with multiple events in the works for next year.

18.01.2022 Welcoming up next is Jesse "Pooh Bear" Thomas. Jesse was given a spot in the Long Ballers team at the qualifying event in 2017 and has represented Australia in both the 2017 amd 2018 Trans Tasman Clash events. Jesses first event in Sydney, 2017, was both amazing and terrible. His consistent numbers were a great asset to the team when he won his final match up in the 2nd last set of the day to give the Aussies the win. But terrible because he made the mistake of telling every...one his local nickname, Pooh Bear, which of course has stuck. Pooh Bear claims his longest drive so far is from Melbourne to Sydney with a pregnant wife and a 12 month old in the back. He lost count of toilet stops before he made it to Albury. While Jesse played a little golf as a young bloke, lawn bowls was his calling for many years and still holds the record as the only guy to compete in a national lawn bowls competition and national body building competition in the same month. It is obvious he has been feeding in a better paddock the last 10yrs though, having found an extra 30 kegs and rating himself as dad-bod of 2018. At least its helped gain a little distance off the tee. Apart from Long Drive and his family, Jesse also has a love for rebuilding cars with a current stock including a 1965 Mustang, XA Falcon and 2 Chargers. If we look inside his golf bag we wont find any wedges but with over 15 built drivers (and about 12 broken ones) there isnt much room for anything else. Finally, when asked how he came to enjoy 3 so very different hobbies, he simply raised his schooner, skulled the last 3 quarters of his beer, and winked with a cheeky grin on his face. See more

18.01.2022 Huge congrats to the 2019 World Champions Kyle Berkshire (opens), Jeff Critterden (masters) and Chloe Garner (womens)! What a week of Long Drive

17.01.2022 Now for the guy with the fastest swing in Australia, Alex "Slingshot" Thomson. The 25yr old got his nickname for 2 reasons, the first being the speed of his swing, and the second being the family trait of making balls travel very fast, putting anyone infront of them in danger. Alex is the youngest son of Australian cricket legend Jeff Thomson. While you wouldnt trust Alex to book an international trip, he does boast about some mean BBQ skills, and being a qualified carpenter ...he reckons he is pretty good with a bit of wood. While his longest ball is 353m, Alex holds the current record in Australia for widest ball, missing the grid by over 100m several times at the 2018 Australian Championships. Probably because he stands on the wrong side of the ball. Turning up to the 2017 Trans-Tasman Clash with one of the best ranga beards you will ever see, there was plenty of disappointed faces the followimg year when he showed up to the Australian Championships without it. Slingshot is another putting in plenty of training to gain the consistency needed to compete on the world stage but for now his speed is causing enough trouble to anyone standing on the tee next to him. 16.01.2022 After being told he cant hit driver cos the range is too short, Gregg Anderson has been spotted trying to hit his wedge over the back fence https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2182839161738276&id=1906989265989935

15.01.2022 Couple of the injury prone boys catchin up for a training hit and i think Jess Thomas was pretty impressed with Daniel Lee smashing this one. Keep up the training boys.

15.01.2022 Up next we have Brent "Karnage" Kearney. After starting Long Drive in 2006, Karnage has won 4 Australian titles and been to the World Championships multiple times with his best results in 2006 and 2007 where he finished in the top 20. With a longest drive of 424yrds (387m) on the Mesquite grid (best grid in the world!) at the 2006 World Champs, this guy has lost count at the amount of 400+ yard drives he has hit. Still to this day says the funniest moment in his career is wh...en Mark Bylsma went through his bag and threw out 11 of the 12 drivers he had cos all the heads were broken. While settling down in Manila to start up his own communication company, Karnage, like the rest of us, has found a few kilos but also now has over 100 employees working for him. We all think he moved there because he likes to feel like a giant but he wont admit it to anyone. Coming back from retirement for the 2018 Trans Tasman Clash, Brent showed glimpse of the old power house he was by winning a couple of his sets with old clubs and an older frame but after a taste of competing again is pumped to get training and chase another Aussie title and try his luck at Worlds. 13.01.2022 After watching bombs like this at the World Champs who else is hitting the range this weekend?

10.01.2022 We will stream the amateurs final shortly.

10.01.2022 Congratulations to the 2019 Australian Long Drive Champion, Steffan Scutti, picture here with event organiser Jason Atkins. It wasnt the smoothest weekend, however, as a group everyone pulled together to help and we thank all the players, family and friends who put their hand up to help. I think we can all agree that one of the most consistent and consistently long hitter of the weekend is holding the trophy.

07.01.2022 Well it has been a while between posts but lets light a fire under Long Drive in Australia again. With some good news coming very soon we thought we would put up another couple of profiles from the past 2 trans tasman events. So firstly, our winning manager from 2017, Mark "The Iceman" Sanford. Mark took on the role to start this team in 2017 and as a 6x Australian Senior and Super Senior Champion, he had a rough idea of how long drive works. Even though this was a whole new ...idea to compete in teams, Marks 10+yrs of experience came through as he constructed the teams line up to precision. With a longest competition drive of 348m, he is no slouch on the tee either. Mark also became the first non American to go through the Worlds last chance qualifier and win a spot in the main field back at the home of long drive, Mesquite, Nevada. With a current handicap of scratch, this old fossil is looking to make a mark on the Australian PGA seniors tour in the coming year, and with a best score of -11 around Surfers Paradise Golf Course, he should do a bit of damage. Not only managing, but competing in the winning 2017 Trans Tasman Champions team was one of many highlights of his Long Drive career. See more

04.01.2022 We are about to start with the tied playoff for 5th and 6th spot. After this the finals will begin. Goodluck to all competing

04.01.2022 Current Australian Champ Karl Peters dropping bombs. He will be one of many Aussie Long Ballers competing @meadowbrookdrvingrange on Nov 16. Come down and watch the boys put on a show!

03.01.2022 Now for one of the funniest guys on the team, Gregg Anderson. After competing in the 2018 Australian Championships and finishing 5th with a stock driver running his low draws up the hill, Gregg was super excited to be asked to be part of the Aussie Long Ballers team for the 2018 trip to New Zealand. Not bad for a bloke who only picked up a golf club 8 months before his first event just for a bit of fun with his mates. Longshots best drive so far is 321m but time and practic...e will surely increase that number, especially as he starts finding the grid more often and increasing his launch angle above 0.7degrees. Living in Geelong gives him plenty of time to hit around 400 practice balls a week cos really, what else is worth doing down there anyway. While most long drivers going round are pretty handy around the greens also, this bloke is more likely to have more beers than pars in 18 holes. While Gregg would fit in on any comedy show, Long Drive is now his passion and he is trying to learn as much as he can to improve his swing and post some big numbers in 2019! See more

03.01.2022 The next victim to the social media spread is Brendan "Mayhem" Moylan. Brendan has been competing in Australia since 2006, which puts him in the older half of the team now. However, at the spritly age of 37, this brick outdoor house is still one of the strongest competitors going around Australia. With a longest drive of 384.2m, Mayhem has won more than his fair share of events. Starting with a 2nd place in his first Australian titles, he has gone on to win titles in 2010, 2...011 and 2014, while taking out the biggest chin award in 2016. Whilst representing Australia at the World Championships 3 times, Brendan has also been a strong part of the Long Ballers team that has taken on New Zealand in 2017 and 2018. While Brendan spends many hours renovating his own homes around Brisbane these days, he also works around the country on heavy earth moving machinery. With shoulders like boulders and a head as thick as one, rumour has been spread that Brendan looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane, however, I for one wont be testing him to see if its true. With many years left in the tank Mayhem knows Worlds is the biggest goal and is still keen to leave his mark on the Open stage. See more

02.01.2022 Continuing on we have Ben "Breeda" Dyer. Ben has been competing in Australian events since 2005 where he broke his only driver at his first event, half of which nearly flew straight into Shreks head. Finishing 2nd in his first Australian titles by 30cm, Ben then travelled to the states to compete in the World Championships in just his 3rd event. Breeda has been known to compete with some weird injuries over the years. Turning up to one event with a broken hand and another h...e competed with a hole in the side of his leg big enough to sit a golf ball in. Luckily Ben is pretty handy at building clubs beacause he has a habit of breaking a few, in fact he has an average of breaking at least 1 club per event. While this picture of health and fitness lives off a sturdy diet of pies and cola, he still competes strongly at every event he has been to with a longest drive of 384min competition. His favourite story still to this day is the post event celebration at Penrith where himself, Shrek and Dave Sawetell (World Para Long Drive Champion) went that hard that Dave couldnt even sit in his wheelchair properly! With only a couple more players to go be sure to keep an eye out in the weeks ahead as we will be sharing some training advice and equipment knowledge from some of the guys as well as posting any events that may come our way. See more

02.01.2022 For all those wanting to see some results, this was saturdays qualifying numbers. All distances are in metres. As you can tell the conditions played havoc throughout the day but still sone good numbers from a few of the guys considering.

01.01.2022 With the Australian record at 401m will a firm, fast grid and good conditions put the bridge in danger tomorrow?
