20.01.2022 2020 NSW/ACT State Championships Expressions Of Interest. 3rd Oct to 5th Oct 2020 Speers Point Amateur Sailing Club. Hi Everyone, The NSW TS16 Association has been discussing possibilities for the upcoming State Titles which have been allocated to SPASC over the October long weekend 2020.... Due to the COVID-19 concerns we have decided to seek expressions of interest in advance. It is likely that entries will be beach entries on the day (see NOR). It is also a possibility that the event may be cancelled at any time by State Authorities so we are asking that all prospective entries let us know in advance so we may progress with arrangements and implement changes to the way our regatta is administered regarding social distancing etc. If you are interested in attending would you please email/message your boat name, sail number, Skipper and Crew to Paul Pritchard NSW Race Secretary at [email protected] or 0408640049. Thanks to Glenn Nolan and the dedicated team at SPASC for drafting a Notice Of Race. See below. See more

Can you all (Personal Message) PM our Facebook page and attach some pictures and answer as our NZ colleagues have done? If you don't know how to PM simply Google it (takes about 20 seconds) NOTE: The more activity we have on our FB site promotes links with other sailors which ultimately grows interest in our class. 07.01.2022 NOTICE OF AGM 2020: HARTLEY TS16 ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA INC. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING via. 2pm AEST time... 29th August 2020 Hi Members, Please NOTE: AGM now at 2pm AEST via Zoom. 06.01.2022 The rules just changed! The Racing Rules of Sailing just changed. Which they do every three years, and the changeover was 1st January. The official rules are valid until December 2024.... There's a useful summary of the main changes (below). The biggest change for most sailors is that the start and finish lines are only relevant to your boat's hull (previously it was "the boat’s hull, crew or equipment in normal position". So your bowsprit, or even you hiking hard, can be over the line with no effect - it's your hull only that counts. Note this doesn't apply for clear ahead/astern overlaps, which is the old "hull, crew or equipment in normal position". You can also use languages other than English for hails ("starboard", "water" etc), the only requirement is that it would be understood. So "Oi!" is now perfectly valid, and possibly some choicer expressions. Rule 2 (fair sailing) penalties are now DNE (non-excludable disqualification) - a simple DSQ isn't an option. So play fair! And lastly, rule 48 now requires that a person leaving the boat by accident must only be ‘back in contact with the boat’ before continuing, rather than ‘back on board’. So towing your crew (hanging onto the sheet) across the finish line is now a valid way to finish! _______________________
