25.01.2022 More Father’s Day orders going out. Simon better be getting a bit of rest while he’s away (yeah right), because he’ll need to get straight into pen making when he gets back. The shelves will be bare by then.

21.01.2022 Midway through cutting a squillion competition entry slips ..... and you realise that the printer decided to print double sided. Two different names per slip? Yeah, that wont do at all. Lets print them all again, shall we?!

19.01.2022 Get in quick! Fathers Day, here in Australia, is on September 1st, just before I return. I suspect that the build-up to Fathers Day has the potential to be my busiest time of year. I should be frantically making pens throughout August, ready for that. Instead, my lathe will be left, alone, unloved for the entire month. I have known I was going for a few weeks, so have been trying to build up my stock of pens for sale. However, over the last couple of weeks, people have been... buying pens as fast as I can make them. Dont get me wrong, that isnt a complaint. I love when people buy my pens as thats the only way I can afford to keep making them. Thats all there is So, for the buildup to Fathers Day the pens youll find on my site right now are all there are going to be. If you want to buy your father (father figure or anyone for that matter), a pen, I suggest you get in quick.

16.01.2022 Been making some burls again, with Coolabah. This was a new pen finish, copper and black chrome. Anke and I think it looks more like "rose gold" than copper though. Either way, I think the colour gives a gently feminine feel to this particular pen which, coupled with the burl, makes it one of my all-time favourites. https://australiantimberpens.com.au//coolabah-burl-sierra/

15.01.2022 Did this little video of the pen I made yesterday, to try and show how it looks like Tiger Eye. Pen has already sold, it only lasted a few hours, but Im planning on making more like this as it is just stunning I think.

15.01.2022 The Elegant Beauty is a wonderful little twist pen with a subtle surprise ... it has the Southern Cross on the end. Not only does this look fantastic, it makes for a very classy Australian Souvenir (unlike most of the plastic rubbish, dried cane toads, or kangaroo scrotums) or is just a subtle way to show youre a proud Australian. I have several of these kits in gold or chrome, so drop me a message if you want a pen made and there isnt one in the wood you want already on my website, or the FB store here.

04.01.2022 Made a Camphor Laurel pen, as Ive done several times before, but cut the timber so the coloured grain runs across, rather than along. I was blown away by the result! 01.01.2022 I really need to get cracking on making pens, what with Fathers Day only a couple of months off, and Im going to be away for some of that. Just finished this little beauty today and think it came out rather nicely :)
