24.01.2022 The Media Arts students were out and about filming on the night of the Arts and Technologies Showcase. Check out the fabulous video they made of the night. The Arts and Technologies Showcase is a fantastic opportunity to bring everyone together to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students. With demonstrations across all disciplines including a Visual Arts Gallery, photography exhibition, cooking demonstrations, an interactive childcare display, a song writing competition, media demonstrations, Design and Technology tours and amazing dance, drama and musical performances, it was a fabulous evening!

22.01.2022 Congratulations to Kelsey, Tiana, Kayla and Matthew who completed a Certificate II Autonomous Workplace Operations pilot course. These students are the first in Australia to successfully complete this course.
20.01.2022 We always finish off Year 12 Hospitality with a non-assessed cake baking competition. The students spend many hours designing, collaborating and preparing their masterpieces. Every year we are always so very impressed with their final products.

19.01.2022 Our Year 7 students participated in an Ancient History Incursion. They engaged with a range of activities including cooking, art, bush tucker, sports, and dreamtime stories. A lot of fun was had by all and the presenters did an amazing job.
17.01.2022 Yesterday the Bush Ranger cadets presented a Kids Teaching Parents event where they organised and ran a number of workshops. The workshops included damper making on trangias, escape room using the phonetic alphabet, scavenger hunt using orienteering, safe survival fire starting and planting techniques in the nursery. Parents and families had a lot of fun and our cadets should be very proud of their efforts.
16.01.2022 Over the last few weeks the Sustainability Site Team have been working to plan and deliver a series of Sustainability focussed workshops to the staff at our college as part of our Professional Learning Community. During the workshops, staff were able to learn about the Sustainability resources that we have for use in our college such as the Nursery, the Your Move, Waste Wise and Bush Rangers programs, and the Bush Tucker Garden. We would also like to thank the following students who gave up their time after school to co-present with the program coordinators: John, Serena, Chloe Harrison, Dani, Kyleesha, Seth, Beth, Aidan and Bella.
15.01.2022 Our Year 11 Drama students have been rehearsing for their production Dags by Debra Oswald. The play is a humorous and compassionate look at adolescence. It speaks to the heart as it addresses teenage insecurity in an uplifting and sometimes quirky, way. Performances will be from 22nd -24th October and tickets can be purchased for $5 at http://tinyurl.com/dags2020
14.01.2022 On Friday, Year 11 Hospitality and Community Service students participated in the @5000 meals program through @Prepare, Produce, Provide. The programs aim is to minimise food wastage by using surplus foods provided by SecondBite and Foodbank to create nutritious meals for people in need. In total we made a huge 154 meals in one day with the help of 33 students. 60 of these meals were Chicken Cacciatore and Pasta and the remaining 94 meals were a delicious Beef Massaman Curry.... Each student involved showed great will and determination to prepare each meal in time for them to be collected in the afternoon by local Rockingham agencies who distribute the meals to people in need. A special 'Thank you' to all involved, including the students who worked tirelessly to prepare, cook, and package the 154 meals in time for distribution. An incredible effort As busy and exhausting as it was, the team work and self sense of achievement was extremely commendable.
13.01.2022 Year 11 Earth and Environmental Science students spent the day at John Forrest National Park and Boya Quarry. Led by Jo Watkins (CEO of Earth Science WA and author of our textbooks), they learnt about igneous rocks and the geological and human history of the areas. Their favourite part of the day was exploring the rail tunnel and the enormous quarry.
12.01.2022 The Wetlands Weekender is on again over the weekend of October 10 & 11. They have a program packed full of fun activities for the whole family. This year is a special year as we celebrate, the 30th anniversary of the listing of the Peel-Yalgorup Wetlands System as a Ramsar Wetland of international importance. There will be arts markets, birdwatching activities, cultural storytelling, a citizen science clean-up, a movie night, music and entertainment and various wetland tours. We know there is something for everyone to enjoy, so book this one in your diary and browse the online program to find out more details about the great line up of events we have planned!
12.01.2022 Throughout term two and three, our Year 10 students who are studying Outdoor Education have been developing their practical and theoretical knowledge in mountain biking. Students have been focusing on improving their riding technique at the college and surrounding locations. This annual expedition down to Kalamunda allows students to implement the knowledge and skills developed in mountain biking over the two terms on some of the best mountain biking trails in Western Australia.
11.01.2022 Rockingham Youth Centre Survey The City of Rockingham want to hear from young people aged 10-24 about what they would like to see at the new Rockingham Youth Centre, due to open in February 2021 on McKinnon St, Rockingham. The feedback will help to make the new Youth Centre the best possible space for young people. Survey participants can enter to win one of five $100 shopping vouchers. Vouchers can be redeemed at Typo, City Beach, EB Games, Boost Juice, Foot Locker, Zing or... Kathmandu. The survey is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RockinghamYouth and is attached. 11.01.2022 On Wednesday evening, the 9th September 2020, we held our Arts and Technology Showcase. The evening was a fantastic opportunity to bring everyone together to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students and what an evening it was! A big thank you to the Baldivis Community for showing up in such a huge number. Students, their friends and families enjoyed live demonstrations across all disciplines including a Visual Art Gallery, photography exhibition, cooking demonstrations, an interactive childcare display with virtual babies, a song writing competition, vox pop interviews with our media students, Design and Technology tours and amazing dance, drama and musical performances!
11.01.2022 Congratulations to all students for their outstanding participation at yesterday's Athletics Carnival. All participants represented themselves in alignment with the college core values to the highest standard and should be extremely proud of their efforts. A special mention to our Youth Worker Leigh McIntosh and all of the student leaders who did an exceptional job in running the Novelty Events throughout the day. 09.01.2022 Our Year 7 HASS students put their Economic and Business knowledge to the test on Auction Day. With their well-earned BSC Bucks, they participated in an auction to bid on amazing prizes. The bidding was fierce, and our awesome auctioneer Ms Parolo was kept busy from start to finish. There was a lot of excitement as students competed for the winning bids. Congratulations to everyone who walked away with a prize, and well done to all for your hard work this term.
09.01.2022 We have some important information for students sitting the practical and written 2020 ATAR course examinations conducted by the School Curriculum and Standards... Authority (the Authority). This year, for the first time, the Authority will be collecting Year 12 students and other examination candidates mobile phone numbers via the student portal: https://studentportal.scsa.wa.edu.au/. If we need to contact students urgently, this will be done via group SMS. While not compulsory, we encourage all Year 12s and examination candidates to log in to the portal and enter your mobile contact number. See more
08.01.2022 The Green Team is running a raffle at recess and lunch next week on Wednesday 23/09/2020. All you need to do to get a raffle ticket is put your rubbish in the bin or pick up some litter. You can help support the Green Teams fight against litter by wearing green accessories (hats, socks, bandannas or jewellery) on the day.

07.01.2022 Our Year 9 Jewellery Design classes have been making striking, shiny things again! They twisted copper and brass wires together and formed them into bracelet, cuff, or ring shapes. Some of the students were clever and learned how to silver solder their pieces together; permanently bonding the wires.
07.01.2022 Year 10 BSC students Darcy, Kai, Cody, Robert and Reece have just completed the 2020 Kwinana Industry Council iMen Project. All participants had a very successful program. The students engaged in a series of workshops, including research into industry, career choices and education pathways, responsible use of social media, resume writing, and preparing for job interviews, among other activities. A presentation evening was recently held to celebrate the end of the program and ...to recognise the graduating students. The highlight of the evening being the awarding of the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation scholarship. The scholarship, the only individual award presented on the night, was won by our own Robert. Robert was acknowledged for his commitment to the program and his strong work ethic during all activities. We congratulate Robert and wish him well as he prepares for his upcoming Leeuwin Ocean Adventure.
06.01.2022 Today, we had the great pleasure of the Director of Aboriginal Education, Paulina Motlop visit our college. We discussed the Aboriginal Perspectives and the great work we are doing with the Aboriginal Cultural Standards framework.
06.01.2022 Today we said goodbye to our Year 12 students with a cooked breakfast, served by our Year 11 Hospitality students. A whole school assembly and to finish off students and teachers made a guard of honour. Students were then congratulated by their parents/caregivers. We look forward to seeing you all tonight at your school ball
06.01.2022 Thank you to Sharni, from the Western Australia Football Commission, for supporting the Health and Physical Education Department in facilitating a range of engaging activities today. It was a great opportunity for our students and staff to develop their skill sets. The Baldivis Secondary College community are looking forward to working with Western Australian Football Commission throughout 2020.
06.01.2022 On Tuesday 15th of September, our Year 10 Film Academy class went on an excursion to Murdoch University to interview Dr. Susan Ledger & Kathryn Dehle. These interviews will go into a series of videos that our students are currently producing for the university. Our students impressed the academic staff at the university with their politeness and professionalism.
05.01.2022 Term 3 saw the commencement of our new Gardening Club Baldivis Planters. The program was developed by Nicole Minchin and Angela Cowgill for Year 7 students in the SLP and Learning Support Departments. Students who joined the program were given the opportunity to be involved in planting, nurturing and harvesting seasonal vegetables. The program also involved gardening related art and craft activities and a workshop about indigenous culture and language, facilitated by Rita Lusted. Harry of Bunnings Baldivis organised the donation of plants, vegetables and an assortment of gardening equipment. This generosity and support from our local community has been invaluable in allowing for this program to be as successful as has been. Students have had enormous fun, have learned new skills and are excited to continue next term.

Unfortunately due to COVID-19 the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre can only hold 60% capacity. Many family, friends and Baldivis Secondary College staff won't be able to celebrate with you tonight....
