25.01.2022 With significant rainfall over the past few days and lots of photos posted on Facebook of rivers and creeks flowing rapidly, we remind drivers not to drive thro...ugh flood waters. Unfortunately the rain gauge for Ballarat isn’t working but there has been reports of between 50mm to 80mm across the region since Friday. Would like to hear how much rain you had at your location. 25.01.2022 Like everything else, our brigade's operations have been affected by COVID-19, limiting our ability to train together. Now, as we get closer to bushfire season, you may see us around more often as we complete critical training in a COVID-safe manner.

24.01.2022 Alicia Gugele is a volunteer firefighter who has struggled with anxiety and depression for around 10 years. After losing her job due to COVID-19 and feeling as ...though her anxiety was getting on top of her, Alicia started to withdraw from brigade activities. Noticing that a few members had behaved in a similar way, Alicia’s brigade put a phone ‘check-in’ system into place, checking up on their members to have a chat, see how they’re going and asking the important question are you okay?. For Alicia, it was the simple act of someone asking her if she was okay that made her realise she hadn’t been feeling like herself. The brigade has been a huge support for me, said Alicia. Even if you ask someone that question and they answer they are okay even if they’re not - the question shows that you care about them and have noticed a change in them. Today, and every day, ask the question are you okay? CFA Wellbeing Support Line - 1800 959 232 Lifeline 13 11 14

17.01.2022 COVID-19 has affected everything, including our ability to meet in person and hold regular training. It was great to be able to take the tanker out last night and run through some drills together.
15.01.2022 Sadly, four police officers were killed in the line of duty this evening after a terrible crash on the Eastern Freeway. They were on duty, keeping our community safe. We'd like to extend our deepest condolences to these officers' families, friends and workmates, and other emergency services service workers attending to the incident.
11.01.2022 We have a new tanker at Ballarat City, ready to serve the community. Our members have spent the past week familiarising themselves with it and conducting a variety of drills. If you see it out and about, give us a (socially distant) wave!
11.01.2022 Fire season is just around the corner, so now is the time to prepare your property to minimise the chance of property damage during a fire, even if you plan to leave early.
10.01.2022 Free Green Waste Week will run from Saturday 21 November to Sunday 29 November in Ballarat. If you're looking to clean up your property for fire season, this is a great time to get onto it!
09.01.2022 Daylight savings starts tomorrow (forward one hour at 2am), so don't forget that the clock on your oven is about to be wrong for the next six months. Remember also to take the time to change your smoke alarm batteries and test them. Smoke alarms can save lives - but only if they're working.
09.01.2022 On Thursday 2 July, CFA's Acting Chief Officer Garry Cook joined Fire Rescue Victoria Commissioner Ken Block at Ballarat City Fire Station to welcome new beginn...ings in Victoria’s fire services. It marked an important step moving forward as both organisations work as one to protect the lives and properties across Victoria.
09.01.2022 On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month we will remember them.
08.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of #FireActionWeek2020. From today until Sunday, CFA and our emergency services colleagues are focussing on getting Victorians better ...prepared for fire season. So we are asking everyone, what are you doing to prepare? Start now by: Preparing your property and clean up green waste and debris Make a bushfire plan for yourself and your loved ones Keeping an eye out for our Fire Safety Essentials workshops in the coming weeks
07.01.2022 "Tomorrow begins a new chapter for the Ballarat City Fire Brigade. From 1 July 2020 our brigade will officially separate as a result of the fire services reform legislation. Our volunteers will remain with CFA, continuing with the name Ballarat City Fire Brigade and becoming volunteer only for the first time in 70 years. Ballarat City Fire Brigade has a long and proud history of serving CFA and the community and we pledge to continue this service unwavering. I am proud of our... members and their resilience through what can only be described as years of upheaval of the highest degree. There have been times where I have been left lost for words, wondering when the challenges will subside and the emotional toll will end. The weight of 161 years of service and history has often felt heavy and the expectation to succeed is immense, but we will do everything possible to create a strong and viable future for the Ballarat City Fire Brigade working within the limitations of the circumstances we have been presented with. We will continue as we always have to work alongside our career firefighter colleagues, and aim not to provide the same service tomorrow that we do today but to work towards doing it better. And I know we will. So July 1st we meet you head on. We are ready to rise to the challenge and do what needs to be done. We will cherish our memories and the friendships we have made but now it's time to look to our future and I'm confident that future can be bright because of our wonderful team of dedicated members. CFA will continue to grow because we have good people like those at Ballarat City. They are CFA, they are its future, and I feel privileged to be able to be a part of it. Ready, Aye, Ready." Nicole McGrath Captain elect Ballarat City Fire Brigade
06.01.2022 This evening at just before 6pm we were responded to a grass and scrub fire near Tinworth Ave Mount Clear. This fire was burning near a pine plantation and was... controlled quickly by crews. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Victoria Police. If you know something say something, please call Crime Stoppers Victoria on 1800 333 000 Picture from photo collection.
06.01.2022 Bit of an unusual call for us this morning to a cat stuck up a tree. Yes we do get called to cats up trees. This poor pussy was 15 years old and decided to go f...or a climb and got stuck up there for two days. Due to the location of the feline we were not able to reach it safely with the ladders we carry on our trucks so we called in some help from Ballarat City Fire Brigade - CFA and their Hydraulic Ladder Platform. We set up ready for the rescue and as we approached the cat it decided to climb down. Purr-fect rescue and a paw-some outcome. Cat all ok and owners very happy. CFA (Country Fire Authority) See more
02.01.2022 International Firefighters Day was instituted after the tragic loss of five firefighters in the 1998 Linton bushfires. Now, every year on 4 May we remember firefighters who never came home from the job, and celebrate the contributions all firefighters make to keeping our communities safe. Pictured is St Florian the patron saint of firefighters, whose feast day IFFD is held on.
01.01.2022 We've just heard that all Victorians will be required to wear masks or other face coverings from Monday, to help limit the spread of coronavirus in regional Victoria. As firefighters, we know masks can be a bit annoying, but we also know how effective they can be at helping us stay safe. More info: https://www.thecourier.com.au//masks-mandatory-for-whole/
