14.01.2022 Christmas break last shoot on December 14th Start again January 11th 2020 Hi all Well 2019 has been an interesting year. Our club membership has dropped a little but you get that with sports clubs in rural areas, and with the movement of families and kids going to the city for school. ... At our recent AGM we have elected a new Chairperson, Dian Head and a new Secretary, Mike Fitzgerald, giving Tony and Amanda a break from these roles. Ruth Bailey is still our Treasurer. I wish to thank Amanda for all the effort she has put into the club over the last few years.. I have been made the Development Officer so look out.. Christmas is nearly upon us.. so soon. The Banksia Bowmen Archery Club will have our last shoot on Saturday the 14th of December 2019 and will be restarting on Saturday the 11th of January 2020. 2020 has a good ring to it so we are planning to expand the club in many ways. Introduction of an economical Bare Bow that is becoming popular. (photos later) Traditional Archery for those interested. To complement our indoor range we are looking at an outdoor range as well. Forming a closer working relationship with Dryandra Archery Club in the Narrogin area. Working with other Archery Clubs and associations in the wheatbelt area. Well how is that for a plan? Remember we finish for the year on the 14th December and will be back at it fresh and strong on Saturday the 11th of January 2020 at the Wickepin Community Centre at 9:00am. Do come along and have a go its fun. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy safe New Year. Tony

14.01.2022 Its all a bit quiet at the moment as we all still working from home or just like me getting unfit fast not doing much. But dreaming of the day we can get back on the Archery Range. But this time is not being wasted. We are working in this quiet time at making membership of our club very affordable for us all. We will keep you posted on what we are going to change. Please remember Banksia Bowmen will be back as soon as possible and we will be shooting Indoors at Wickepin on Saturdays and Cuballing on Sundays, that's when we are allowed to restart by the State Government and the local Shires. Keep safe and see you soon. Tony

14.01.2022 No Archery this weekend. Archery is alive and well around the world. But unfortunately, the Banksia Bowmen Archery Club will not be shooting this Saturday the 24th July 21. . So instead keep dry and out of floodwater, watch World Archery. See you next week. Tony

13.01.2022 A New Direction and With new Energy Update News. We have, with all Western Australians cooperating and the well-known WA common sense been able to keep a lid on the COVID19 virus .for now. So this means we are back on the shooting range and enjoying our sport and companionship. We are exercising all the Local and State Government COVID19 guidelines.... There has been a lot of activity at the management level and the result has been that we have adsorbed the Dryandra Archery club in to the Banksia Bowmen Archery Club Inc forming one club. We have also spread our wings and now have two venues that we are using for Archery. On Saturdays we have the Indoor Range at the Wickepin Community Centre (next to the football oval) and Sundays we have an Outdoor Range at the Caballing Golf course. But at this stage we can only shoot at the Golf course during the Summer. We are looking for an Outdoor Range in the Narrogin Caballing area that we can shoot at for the Winter. Anyone got any Ideas? It is with great sadness that we are leaving our membership with Archery Australia/Archery WA. This is due to the high cost of membership to these organisations and the change of direction of our members. We are joining the Traditional Archers of Australia (TAA). TAA offers members a much cheaper and affordable membership. We had found over the years that the cost of membership to AA/AWA was putting off potential members. COVID19 and the loss of jobs and full time income has been a good indicator that we are doing the right thing by our members and communities. There is an increasing interest in TAA by Archers in the rural area and we also have another TAA club in Wamenuskin, with a great bunch of members. It is between Corrigin and Quairading off the Corrigin/Quairading road

13.01.2022 Due to work commitments and long weekend travel plans we have had to cancel tomorrows planned shot 29 February. We will be back shooting Saturday 7 March at Wickepin Rec center 9am. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hope to see you all next week

12.01.2022 Due to the social distancing and travel constraints being placed on all of us we regret to announce that all indoor shoots will have to be cancelled for the time being. We will review this on a weekly basis and keep you all up to date regularly. Thank you for your understanding. Keep well.

07.01.2022 NO ARCHERY ON NEXT SATURDAY 10/07/21 Hi all. Some people may have noticed that it is school holiday season. We discovered that as most of the members will be away next Weekend Saturday the 10th of July, so unfortunately there will be no archery on that day. WE WILL BE BACK on Saturday the 17th July 2021. ... Remember we are shooting in the afternoons during winter. Start at 1:00pm. See you all then. Stay safe and healthy. Tony.

05.01.2022 Its now full steam ahead. Banksia Bowmen has two venues to shoot at giving our members a greater variety of shooting environments. It’s Indoors 18m to 25m on Saturdays at the Wickepin Community Centre. We shoot from 9:00am to 12:00 midday. Outdoors on Sundays at the Cuballing Golf Club 9:00 am to 12:00 midday. Visitors welcome ... As we work in with the Golf Club so please contact us first on 0428 441 349. Just to confirm with us that you are coming. Draw weight: 30/35/40/45/50 lbs Bowstringer is included The Tail of this bow is made from exotic Robina Acuminata wood The bow limbs are made of high elasticity transparent epoxy resin sheet so no animals have been harmed in the making of the bow. Tony. See more

02.01.2022 There will be no shoot today for Dryanda archery club today due to harvest commitments. Sorry for the late notice.

01.01.2022 Well its getting close to December and that time of year. I have been looking at the Indoor recorded scores for some of our members and even though we are a non metro club our members Indoor State Ranking is quite good. Recurve Bows Like Mike - is 4th in his division.... Ruth - is still 2nd in her division. Paul - is sitting in 11th in his division Amanda - is 13th with Emily - 14th in the same division. Hamish - (compound) is 23rd in a very completive field of 49. Me 13th yup I like that number. This Saturday we were shooting 90 arrows at 30m, a Geelong. It was a change to have a big target to shoot at. Go to Archers Diary on the web and check out our club and other clubs activity.
