24.01.2022 This is a must read please! The apple dosnt fall far from the tree and so it goes with the career of Lisa-Jane Drefke - Millard. Lisa, a twin with brother Dylan, has ‘paved the way’ or ‘Blazed the Trail ‘ for most, if not all the female BMFC Women’s League players that followed, not only Barmera but probably the Riverland. She has been inspirational, not only as a leader in women’s football, but her stellar basketball career is just as amazing. Lisa done so much over the ...past 10 years it’s hard to believe how she had physically fit in so much. I’d say a massive thank you to her parents I think. Any how this Lisa’s career inbrief over the past 10 or so years. 23.01.2022 Like father, like son, Dillon Millard has a long list of achievements and I am really happy he has involved himself in the Centenary Wall. An extremely talented family in both football and probably more so in Basketball . All 3 of Glenn and Sue Millard’s children have been regulars In State Country Basketball with high levels of coaching experience, and with Dillon now using those skills to coach Loxton FC, we would like to wish him all the best. I would think he has a pile... of trophies and Premierships from Jnr footy as well. Here are a list of his achievements with Bmfc Senior footy over his brilliant career. 2011 Whillas Medalist. -Team of the year 2011/12/13/14/17 -2012 Pioneer Writers Trophy -A Grade Premiership 2012 -3 x Best & Fairest -Riverland Footballer of the Year 2013 -Captain 2016/17 I also know for a fact that Dillon has done many hours electrical work for free and was a regular helper with pretty much anything going, bbq, working bee etc. Fantastic effor Dillon. His plaque will read- Dillon Millard A Grade Premiership 2012 3xB&F/Captain 2016/17 Team of the Year 2008/09/11/12/13/14/17 From the current Board, we would like to thank you for your many years of service both as player and volunteer helping. Dillon is a handful of games short of 200, so hopefully we see him back on the field soon. Good luck with you new venture in coaching.

23.01.2022 A reminder the club will be closed all day tomorrow for the funeral of past President, major sponsor and long time supporter of the Barmera Monash Footy Club. The funeral is capped at 200 inside the venue, the service will be live streamed at this link from 2pm. https://m.youtube.com/watch We ask everyone to appreciate the government limitations imposed on the club and be respectful to volunteers trying their hardest under difficult circumstances.

23.01.2022 After a week we will never forget, and with heavy heart, the ‘Wall’ plaques recommence. Tonight’s plaque is for Bruce Maitland who now resides in the Gold Coast. Bruce is your average father, following his boys with their footy at Barmera. He found himself involved as Team manager for 2 years, 2009,10 and then as they boys went up to Senior footy was also the B Grade Manager and joined the Board 2011. Great effort while your lads were playing Bruce. His plaque reads-... Bruce Maitland U/15 Manager 2009,10 B Grade Manager Board Member. Thanks for your involvement in the Centenary Wall Bruce.

22.01.2022 Tonight we start a run of a couple of big family names, spanning from the 1980’s to present. Let’s start with the Millard name, Glenn is first up, a mega star of particularly the 80’s. You really should read all of this because it goes on, a long list of achievements. Glenn arrive from Cummins on the Eyre Peninsula in 1981 and made an immediate impact as a big mobile man in the ruck. First year here, he made the Team of the Year, and pretty well every other year he played..., 1981,82, 83, 84, 85 & 86. -Pioneer Writters Trophy 1982/85/86/88 - Leading goal kicker 1982 -BOG in GF 1983/86/87 -Premierships- 1983/84/85/86/87 - BOG against Barossa-7 goals - BOG against Port Lincon inter Ass. -B&F 1985 -Whillas Medal 1985 -1988-5RM Footballer of the Year -1991 Senior Coach -1991 Riverland Coach - Team of the Decade 1986-95 And of course Life Member. Not only has Glenn given his all to the footy club as a player but was the President from 2003-07 and is the current Patron. Congratulations on such a brilliant career for BMFC Glenn, and from the current Board , thank you for all the years as both player and president. Glenn won’t have enough room on his plaque to put the above, but this is what is most important to the family. Glenns plaque will read- Glenn Millard Premiers 1983/84/85/86/87 Team of the Year 1981-86 President 2003-07 What a Star mate. Incredible to see it all laid out like that. Amazing.

22.01.2022 In Memory | PETER MORELLI

22.01.2022 While you are all sitting inside during the heat, please, those who haven’t yet, get involved in your footy club Centenary Wall. This is a lot of work for me but I need your help for this to be a success.

18.01.2022 Tonight we have Peter Morelli . Peter, the father and founder of MARS Transport Equipment. I cannot think of anyone who has done more volunteering of hours at the footy club than Peter Morelli. Also donated , built or fixed many items over his past 20 years as Board Member and President for the past 5 years of that. Gruff on the outside but a softy inside , Pete has given it his all. His business has donated 10’s of thousands of dollars as a major sponsor over that time and ...is always about to help when anything is needed. You have done above and beyond your share and it is soon time to wind down. Many many thanks to Peter and his wife Carolyn Morelli for the dedication and passion to the BMFC. Peter’s plaque is- Peter Morelli MARS Transport Equipment Board/President 2001-2020 Major Sponsor 20 Years Thank you Peter Morelli.

16.01.2022 The Morelli Boys are up tonight. Bryce Morelli, the loveable larikan, probably a mix of dad & and mum in there. Cameron Morelli , Ryan, and Drew, I’d say a little quieter like mum, fabulous young men with a great work ethic instilled in them. If they weren’t playing footy, they’d help out in many ways, boundary umpire, runner, and now in business as major sponsors and supporters. I’d say they’re is more to these boys that I don’t know so my apologies if I missed things you’v...e done. Huge thank you to Cameron, Ryan, Bryce, Drew and Morelli Transport Equipment. Their Plaque will read- Morelli Brothers Cameron/Ryan/Bryce/Drew Players/Supporters/Volunteers 1998-2020 Thanks heaps for your contribution fellas.

14.01.2022 The Barmera Monash Football Club are shocked and saddened at the passing of past president and long-time board member Peter Morelli. Peter served on the board for 19 years in various roles, including 5 as President. Peter’s business MARS Transport Equipment was and remains the major sponsor. Peter will be remembered as a tireless worker at your footy club, always putting the club first. The board, football personnel and staff at the club send our love and support to Carol...yn, Cameron and Renee, Ryan and Hannah, Bryce and Keegan and Drew. Peters family are currently organising the service. When we have the service details and have been given permission from the Morelli family we will announce them via Facebook. See more

14.01.2022 Put it in your calendar now! The 2020 AGM will have some important topics discussed, including voting on the proposed constitution. This is an important opportunity for you to have input on your club. Please share the post around and encourage everyones attendance. Meeting agenda, previous minutes and proposed constitution will be available at the club.

13.01.2022 Tonight we have a couple of old legends involved in the club from 1950’s to about 70’s or maybe 80’s. Roy and Ada Baird. Roy was heavily involved in the management and Ada more so the social side. Man, that ol’ woman was a character. I can still remember her running a 3 legged race at Apex Park Christmas Show in her 80’s and dancing on the table in the club. Very very funny lady. A true legend at BMFC. The following is Roy & Ada’s history, who certainly done more than their ...share in the 50’s and beyond. -President 1952-1955,56 -Vice President 1950,57,58 -Board 1952,55,56, 57,58,59 -Life Member - Roy-1954 - Ada/1961 Played 1950’s Ada was a cook and on the social committee and worked tirelessly. All voluntary of course. There plaque will read Roy& Ada Baird Roy Player, President, Board Ada- Cook Social Committee Roy-Life Member1 954/ Ada 1961

11.01.2022 The post for tonight are the back bone of our club. No big ego here. Peter and Lee McKinnon and the two boys, Joseph and Thomas, only lads but terrific lads. Volunteers and supporters, they all want to have their names remembered on the Centenary Wall and help support their footy club. Pete is a Jnr’s time keeper and Lee washes the footy jumpers. A huge thank you from the Bmfc. The McKinnons plaque will read- Pete & Lee McKinnon Volunteers & Supporters ... Joseph U/18 Premiers 2016 Thomas Capt U/15 2016-U/18 2019 See more

11.01.2022 I’m starting tonight of with another family of big contributors to our club, starting back in the mid 80’s to current. That being The Marks family, fatherpeter, and the boys, Chris, Steve and Tim. Tonight is about Peter Marks tho. Peter Marks - got involved with junior footy in 1985. This was after Barmera’s younger juniors were pulled out of the competition in 1984. The junior committee worked extremely hard with the juniors and involved some really good coaches. Success... started to come for the Barmera juniors in his time as junior president with premierships in 1987, 88 and 89. Peter was involved in the changing of the age groups to 13’s and 15’s which happened after the 1988 season. As a board member one of the key things he was involved with was the introduction of player payments to all local senior players. The amount each player got was dependent on their training attendance and the grade they played. Payments were always paid on a night when there was a official function organised at the club. He has been a keen supporter of the club watching his 3 boys play through juniors into seniors then into coaching. Now gets great enjoyment watching 4 of his grandkids playing in Barmera junior teams. Peter’s plaque will read- Peter Marks Jnr Football President 1985-91 Board Member 1998-2001 Supporter Fabulous effort Pete, and a big thanks from the current Board.

09.01.2022 Des Hogan is our Plaque for tonight’s post. Des Returned to Barmera from Broken Hill in 1958. By all accounts it was good timing for us, as Des won the Whillas Medal, 5RM Trophy and Club Best and Fairest in the first year here. He also represented the Riverland or Upper Murray Football League (UMFL), every year he played. That being 1958,59,60,61. In 1960 and 1961, Des was Captain Coach for those years, and looking through the wonderful Hallett Shueard book on the History... of our Club, Hoges, the no1 ruckman, was in the best for Barmera uncannily often, and there are not too many accolades he didn’t win. In 1960, he and another Barmera player, Elkin Reilly, tied for the Murray Pioneer Writter Trophy. Under Des as Coach, Barmera was 3rd in 1960 and 2nd in 1961 losing to Loxton in the GF. Des’ plaque will be - Des Hogan Whillas Medalist 1958 Captain Coach 1960/61 UMFL 1958/59/60/61 Many thanks to Kelsey Hogan Reece Hogan

06.01.2022 Tonight we have an old legend from late 50’s to mid 60’s, Jimmy Baird, a hard man, tough as nails. He also had a short stint with Norwood, but is probably better remembered as a the hit man from Broken Hill ! Jimmy was vice captain of the A’s for a few years and made the Upper Murray Team in 1959. His daughter Karen has sent me a short news paper clip from a Port/Norwood game. Please read below. This was Jimmy all over, afraid of nothing. Jim’s plaque is Jimmy Baird A Gra...de 1959-64 Vice Captain 1962/63 UMFL Team 1959 Thank you to his daughter Karen.

03.01.2022 Hi Barmera Monash Football Family We are on the search for accommodation for Jamo in Adelaide next year He has been accepted into Henley High School as a part of their Football Academy (and doing Year 12) and is part of the West Adelaide U18 squad. He is super keen to give these opportunities his all and we are doing whatever we can to make it happen. Finding the right place for him to live is the key to this being successful, and the one thing that has not fallen into pla...ce yet! Ideally we are looking for a supportive family / couple environment in the western suburbs who would be interested in Jamo boarding with them from mid/end January to November. We would be offering payment for board, food, washing and some transport (until he gets his licence). Anyone who knows Jamo would know that he is a pretty laid back kid, but is independent, mature and determined to achieve. If you might be interested or know of someone that may be, please give us a call (0438 528 255) or inbox me (Sue) so we can chat further. Thanks in advance. Sue & Dave Whitbourne

03.01.2022 Some guys sneak under the radar at the achievements and involvement they have had with a club. Stephen Marks is one of those people. More commonly known as Kouta! Fantastic career Steve, congratulations and your still in there coaching the kids! Footy Clubs don’t survive without guys like you mate. Steve’s plaque will read - Steve Kouta Marks 170 Snr Games/A Grade Capt 2006 A Grade Coach 2016-18 U/18 Premiership Coach/Life Member Most of the information is in Hallett Shueard book on 100 Years of Footy at Lakeside Oval available at the club. 03.01.2022 We are kicking of the New Year with a Dead Set Living Legend. Dave Whitbourne is a remarkable man, having played well over 500 senior games, - Port Elliot (196 A Grade Games), Mt Compass(2 seasons) and 271 with Barmer Monash. During his 20 years at Port Elliot, 1981-2000) Dave won Multiple Best & Fairest, other Club awards, Life Member an A Grade Association Mail Medal 1998 and runner up in 1992. Dave arrived at Barmera in 2001 when his wife Sue Whitbourne had a transfer ...with Bank SA. Dave played in his first ever GF that year but unfortunately lost. His win in a GF came in the B Grade in 2009 where he was one of the best afield at the age of 41. Dave played a massive 112 A Grade and 158 B Grade games where he has won multiple B&F for the seconds and has 2ce won the Brian Ridley Award for his service to the club, as voted by all players. Not only has he done his share of games but has also been a junior coach runner, goal umpire and mentor to many of the kids from Auskick to U/18s. Dave was awarded Life Membership in 2018 At 52 Dave is possibly still going to front up for another season, he also features in the top 20, SA Country Football Records for Most Games Played since 1950. Maybe more to come yet ! For those who don’t know Dave, he is not a big man, but by hell he puts his body in hard for a little bloke, and runs like a Jack Rabbit, still. As a young fell you must have been exciting to watch Dave. Congratulations on all your achievements, and from the current Board, we are extremely grateful for your 20 years of service at BMFC.
