25.01.2022 Some great information from Tynong Fire Brigade?

25.01.2022 As summer approaches, now is the time to prepare and #getFireReady. Be sure to download the Vic Emergency App on your smart phone or tablet to have all the latest warnings and incident information at your fingertips. The app can be tailored to create watch zones relevant to your home location and other places you frequently visit. 1. Download the Vic Emergency App from the App store or Play Store... 2. Create a login and password 3. Login and set up a new watch zone 4. Either use your exact residential address or just type Bayles as the origin of the watch zone 5. Choose a watch radius for receiving notifications. We recommend a minimum of 5km but 10km is probably better. Remember the larger your radius, the more notifications it will pick up in that search area and the more notice you may have of any impending incident or occurring event. 6. Hit the next button and give your new watch zone a relevant name (you can have multiple watch zones in different locations if you like) 7. Scroll down to the incidents heading and under the Fire Tab, we recommend that you turn on the All fire Incidents tab as a minimum. 8. Customise and choose which other categories/notifications you wish to receive (as a general rule we don’t get too many shark sightings or tsunamis in Bayles so you can probably leave those ones turned off ) 9. If you find you are receiving too many or not enough notifications you can increase/decrease your watch radius or turn on/off some of the incident notifications Don't hesitate to contact us at the brigade if you need assistance. Stay Safe

24.01.2022 Brigades across Cardinia Shire will be conducting important safety training in preparation for the upcoming FIre season.

23.01.2022 We had 2 new recruits join our brigade this time last year. Unfortunately, due to the extremely busy fire season and then the pandemic they have not been able to do their general firefighter training until now. We are so glad they stuck it out and in the meantime completed every online training course CFA offered, regularly attended sunday roster to help keep the vehicles ready, listened to our turnouts and asked every question imaginable. They will fly through their general course. Well done to finally get into your basic training conducted under strict covid safe requirements Alan Murray & James Tasevski.

22.01.2022 Some great advice from Baw Baw shire council.

21.01.2022 The 1 year anniversary of these devastating fires should be all the prompting you need to start getting your own property ready for the coming fire season.

21.01.2022 With the weather warming up many residents will be preparing their properties and burning off accumulated green waste in preparation for the upcoming fire seaso...n. Whilst we encourage residents to reduce overall fuel loads and hazards safely on their own properties, we also ask that they familiarise themselves with the Shire's open air burning policy and bylaws around what day you can burn off (dependent on your property size - refer table below). Note there is no burning off permitted on Sundays on any property size. If you don't want these at your place follow these simple rules; * Register your burn off with ESTA on 1800 668 511 * Only burn off when it is safe to do so * Never burn off on windy days * Ensure you have adequate water on hand to extinguish your burn off * Never leave a going fire unattended If you don't wish to burn off, the Cardinia council are again offering 2 free green waste drop off weekends for Shire residents.
