24.01.2022 This graphic from Big Life Journal offers some wonderful scripts to try when your child is upset. Our children need to know that their big feelings are not too ...big for us, their trusted big people. They can rest in the knowledge that our support and love is unwavering, and they have the space to work through the frustration/fear/anger/disappointment that is unsettling their developing brains. We can handle all that they have to throw at us, and we'll still be there once the dust has settled, arms wide and empathy abounding. See more

09.01.2022 We worked out who it is we need to be in order to receive attention, approval, love and validation, or to avoid conflict, criticism, stress, disappointment, rej...ection or abandonment. Everything we do is about getting or avoiding those things. If you’re playing a role that you learned, much as you’ve derived value from it, it may be causing you pain. Roles cut you off from yourself. Why? Because you’re pretending to be something you’re not. They hold you back, doing their part in keeping patterns alive that need to be released for everyone involved. Common roles we play in childhood - the over responsible role - the performer - The overachiever - the always available one - the rebel - the one who doesn’t need anything - the overlooked one - the under responsible one - the misunderstood one - the keeper of secrets - the perfect one - the angry one Acknowledge the kid you didn’t get to be. You can choose to be and do things that feel more authentic to you. In doing so, you can really begin to heal and stop the repetition of past hurts. Your thoughts?

06.01.2022 The Four Basic Goals of IFS 1. Liberate parts from the roles they’ve been forced into, so they can be who they’re designed to be. 2. Restore trust in the Self a...nd Self-Leadership. 3. Reharmonize the inner system. 4. Become more Self-led in our interactions with the world. 04.01.2022 There are a million ways we adapt, or give up self, to stabilize our relationships. This week I encourage you to think about when you are quick to adapt at ho...me, at work, and in the larger world. When has it been convenient to go along with the group? To take over, or to take a back seat, because others expect it? To never get clear with yourself about what you believe or who you’re trying to be?
