25.01.2022 Registrations are now open for Stroke Week 31 August - 6 September: https://bit.ly/StrokeWeek2020 This year we’re celebrating F.A.S.T. Heroes, those people who... knew the signs and saved a life. Across Australia, F.A.S.T. Heroes save lives every day, by simply knowing and recognising the signs of stroke and calling an ambulance immediately. They know that stroke is always a medical emergency and time is critical. This National Stroke Week we are calling for more F.A.S.T. Heroes to potentially save the life of a loved one, a colleague, a stranger or even themselves. Become a F.A.S.T. Hero by learning and sharing the F.A.S.T. message and calling triple 000 straight away if you suspect a stroke. You can get involved and raise awareness in your own way. In 2020, this might mean making your event or activity virtual. Sign up and receive a free Stroke Week kit (and a virtual kit) to support your activity including a range of hard copy and digital resources. Register for a free pack today: https://bit.ly/StrokeWeek2020

22.01.2022 Defibrillators are so user-friendly, it's easy to save a life if you're quick enough!! Now, thanks to the Rotary Club of Bellingen, all community & sporting groups using the Connell Park will have access to this new mobile "Backpack Defibrillator" within minutes. Each year, more than 20,000 Australians suffer a sudden cardiac arrest, but according to Australian medical authorities only about 10 per cent of those people survive. Saving somebody from cardiac arrest is time critical, meaning every minute counts. #rotarysavinglives #communityproject #bellingen
19.01.2022 Bellingen Rotary club has adopted a policy of giving a Paul Harris Fellowship award to those members both in the club and the wider community for exceptional service above self. Our most recent recipient was Paul Cowley, a very valuable member who has provided both to our club and the wider community for the past eight years. A morning tea was held at Paul and Jane’s home, where members of our club surprised Paul with the presentation of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Congratulations Paul!
19.01.2022 "HOMELAND STORY" showing on ZOOM - FRIDAY 14th AUGUST & 21st AUGUST @ 7.30pm This is a remarkable story of cross-cultural cooperation in the development of Donydji, an Indigenous Homeland in Arnham Land. They have been supported by the Rotary Club of Melbourne and Vietman Veterans working with the young men of Donydji. The film charts the Donydji community’s transition from nomadic life to the digital age, from the 1960s to the present... day, and the work of genetic anthropologist Dr Neville White. EndTrachoma by 2020 has been given the exclusive opportunity to hold screenings around Australia to not only benefit our EndTrachoma project, but also to help the Donydji community and enlighten as many people as possible about our Indigenous Australians. The cost is $10, shared equally between EndTrachoma2020 and Donydji. Support the work of Rotary in Indigenous communities by purchasing a ticket here.... https://www.trybooking.com/BJRSD and watch the film online from the comfort of your own lounge room. See more

13.01.2022 Nigerian physician Dr. Tunji Funsho was named one of TIME’s Most Influential People in the world. He has been honoured for his work with Rotary International to eradicate wild polio in Africa. It's not often an entire continent eradicates a disease, but on Aug. 25, 2020, that happened when Nigeria was declared polio-free, clearing the virus from its last redoubt in all of Africa. The person who did more than any other to drive polio to continent-wide extinction was Dr. Tunji Funsho, a former cardiologist and now the chair of Rotary International’s polio-eradication program in Nigeria. 02.01.2022 Learn F.A.S.T. and save a life Almost 19,000 strokes will be experienced by NSW residents this year and there are almost 160,000 stroke survivors living in the NSW community. The first step in ensuring better outcomes from stroke is getting to hospital quickly, and that means recognising the F.A.S.T. signs and calling triple zero (000) straight away.
