25.01.2022 Ever have one of those days where everything feels like it's gone perfectly to plan for your health? You've exercised, eaten well, feel in a really positive headspace and everything in your life seems to be in flow. See, we all have these big goals:... - Be healthier - Have more energy - Lose Fat - Get Stronger But how do we action them to ensure we're on the path to seeing the results we want? We need to identify key habits and behaviours that we need to begin performing (or adjusting) in our day to day lives. Creating a checklist where by if we complete it, we can expect to see some movement towards our goal over time. It brings clarity and understanding to our actions, allows us to measure our consistency and gives us a no-fuss way to measure progress. Let's show you an example! Danielle would like to improve her core and leg strength. She's never weight trained before and knows that joining a gym and making some lifestyle adjustments are necessary for her to see progress. So what factors do we know about strength training that are important for seeing results? - Lifting Weights to stimulate strength adaptation in our muscles - Eating enough to fuel training and recovery - Sleeping enough to recover and repair our muscles So Danielle's Daily checklist may look like this: - Train - Eat a quality source of protein at every meal - get 8hrs of sleep (kids permitting ) Here's the important part, she DOESN'T have to action all of these behaviours at once. In fact, we'd prefer it if she took a month to introduce them to her lifestyle. But she now has a roadmap and plan to achieve her desired outcome which will improve her motivation and consistency. There's nothing more frustrating than trying hard and not seeing the results you want, our checklist process avoids this! 16.01.2022 Ever caught yourself comparing your progress to someone elses in the gym? It's completely normal, but not overly productive or healthy. Often we compare ourselves to where that person is currently, but not where they were at a similar stage to us in our journey.... It's a case of comparing and . We cater for all levels of fitness at BD. Some of our clients have trained with us for 5 years, some are in their first 5 days. The most important thing for new clients to remember is that we all started once. We were all nervous about the gym and the potential challenges it may bring. But then to know that we are all on the same journey. The journey to self improvement through physical training. It's just that we are all on different stages of our journey. Be proud of your own goals and accomplishments, be inspired by others but try not to get caught in comparing and talking down your own progress. 07.01.2022 They are always watching It is human nature to be more accountable to others than ourselves. That is one of the reasons individuals engage the services of a coach to help them through the initial stages of lifestyle change and the path to results.... What does it mean for the nutrition lessons we're teaching our kids? If you turn your nose up at mushrooms, what does that show your child? If you grab a coke every time you fill up on fuel, is that a behaviour you want your child emulating? What if we treated every meal and food encounter to educate our young ones on the value of healthy eating and sustainable habits? This, of course, works both ways. We do also need to teach our kids about enjoying themselves and not being afraid of the occasional treat. In our house we call them "sometimes" foods. If you're struggling for motivation and accountability at the moment (we all are don't worry!) look to your children. They are a great motivator for a lot of things we do in life! There's no one better to be accountable to... It is one of ours goals to educate our clients to enable them to teach their children and provide them with the skills to live long, healthy, happy lives! Ben and Danni #BuiltByBD

03.01.2022 How much do you rely on willpower when you're trying to eat well? A lot? Not much?... Not at all? We expect for the vast majority of you all that the answer is close to "a lot". And that is PERFECTLY OK! But what if we told you that is was not your willpower that was key to your success. What if it was your nutritional knowledge and having the skills to apply it. It is the goal of our nutrition coaching to teach our clients the foundational knowledge that they need to make their diet flexible, consistent and sustainable. We firmly believe that our clients shouldn't rely on willpower, at least not in the long term. Constantly having to use willpower and feeling like you're denying yourself things you want is draining and will eventually lead to burnout which is not what we want! So, next time you're feeling a little 'diet fatigue' and thinking that you are lacking the willpower to continue reach out! It may very well be that you need some nutrition skill building and not a lack of willpower... Remember, knowledge is #BuiltByBD

We prefer approaching nutrition through slight adjustments and habitual change. This promotes sustainable results over short term fixes. At the end of the day, our clients want ‘forever’ change.... Not 8 week shreds and yoyo results. Not only has our method proven more effective than completely changing your current diet, it’s also far easier to implement.
