24.01.2022 These stick insects were the size of an ant when they came to live at BPS during the ‘learning from home’ phase. They have possibly one more skin to shed, to fatten considerably before growing to about 15cm in length. They are fascinating insects, eating only gum leaves and taking on the distinct appearance of dried leaves.

23.01.2022 Today’s assembly highlighted wonderful achievements and contributions to the school week, congratulations to all recipients. Yr 2/3 shared their learning about plastic pollution and the harm it causes our marine life, their jellyfish look great!

22.01.2022 Boat Rock, Savernake, is a significant site for the Bangerang people. It is a filtration system constructed to gather water. The ponds were created by fires burned to make the rock brittle enough to be carved out to make a reservoir for the water that ran off the rock during a rain event. At their deepest they measure about 1.5m. No-one knows exactly but it possibly took hundreds of years to develop, many fires, much chipping away of the brittle rock! It became a source of water between Jerilderie and the Murray River for the nomadic groups of Indigenous people. In Bangerang language, the name Berrigan stands for 'big rock', these rocks are located on the Cobram Rd opposite the back of the racecourse.

11.01.2022 Making science real- Miss Reynoldson bought in a sheep bone, eyeball and a brain to help students learn a little more about the human body!

09.01.2022 Last Friday these students received merits for their classroom/playground effort! The values were on show with pink, green and blue merits on display! If you have 5 merits at home, bring them into the office as the Principal’s Morning Tea is coming up later in the term!

07.01.2022 Tomorrow is Remembrance Day. It is a day of special significance to all Australians as we pause to remember the loss of Australian lives in all wars, conflicts and peace time operations. BPS school captains will lead a school service at 9:00am and we will all stop at 11:00am to observe a minutes silence.

06.01.2022 This morning we commemorated Remembrance Day with a service in the school hall. Our school captains created the presentation giving it a personal touch. Lest We Forget.

04.01.2022 Welcome to Berrigan Public School! Shortly we will welcome our newest students, our Kinder 2021 group - our leaders in conjuction with Mrs Fruend produced this short introduction to our lovely local school.

03.01.2022 Recently we received 3 books from the Pay Cronin Foundation, kindly donated by LHAC (Local Health Advisory Council). They contain an important message about the damage just ‘one punch’ can do! We look forward to looking deeper into these stories.

01.01.2022 This week’s movers and shakers! The students are putting in a big effort in the classroom, congratulations to these students! Yr 2/3 shared their persuasive writing about rainforests with their peers. Remember there is a Principal’s Assembly coming up-have you received 6 merits this year, if so bring them in to the front office.
