17.01.2022 NATIONAL POLICE REMEMBRANCE DAY - TUESDAY 29 SEPTEMBER 2020 Each year, 29 September holds a special significance for police throughout Australia, New Zealand, P...apua New Guinea, Samoa and the Solomon Islands. It is a day for police to pause and honour officers whose lives have been lost while performing their duty as a police officer. This important day is also a time to remember police officers who have lost their lives through illness or other circumstances. Members, on and off duty, families and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend events outlined below. Ecumenical services will be held in Darwin and in regional centres across the Territory. DARWIN March: The Northern Territory (NT) Police Force, Australian Federal Police (AFP), Military Police and Colours and serving and retired police officers. For those members wishing to participate, the march will form-up outside Darwin City Police Station at 9:15am. Service: St Mary’s Star of the Sea Cathedral, Smith Street Darwin City, 9:45am. KATHERINE Service: Graveside of Constable William Condon, Katherine Regional Cemetery, 9:00am. TENNANT CREEK Service: Graveside of Sergeant Shane Kappler, Tennant Creek Regional Cemetery, 9:00am. ALICE SPRINGS March: The NT Police and AFP Colours and serving and retired police officers. For those members wishing to march, the march will form-up outside Alice Springs Police Station at 9:25am. Service: Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Hartley Street Alice Springs, 10am. NHULUNBUY Service: Nhulunbuy Police Station, 10:00am.

11.01.2022 A series of books are available to help you and your child deal with issues related to being part of a military family. Coping with Trauma is a series of books for children living with a parent who has experienced trauma, these books have been produced by DVA and Phoenix Australia. 10.01.2022 Today we commemorate Vietnam Veterans' Day on the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in 1966. We remember the sacrifices of those who died and say thank you to almost 60,000 Australians who served during the 10 years of our involvement in the Vietnam War. Lest we forget.
