23.01.2022 Wednesday night community meals. Awesome night with over 40 people attending. Good to see our homeless family sitting with the community and very much being apart of the community. One told me tonight, and its the 2nd person this week that without our support they wouldn't be here. Men's mental health i take seriously, men are sometimes forgotten, and sometimes although helplines are there to talk these men just need one person to care, and to help them. Here they have the whole BK 2 Basics community. I will be posting very soon about one of these men who tonight swallowed their pride and asked me for help. I know as a community we will be able to help and get Mr G back on track.

22.01.2022 With our new trailer gates, Craig was off to the city delivering over 700 meals. On the menu: Beef stir fry... Sausage Ragu on rice Chicken noodle soup Creamy salmon and veg pasta American hotdogs Sweet chilli Veg & Tofu (v, h) Homemade burgers & gourmet sausages and veg. Garlic Prawn stirfry on brown rice (d) Everyone received a drink and a packet of chips. No rest for the wicked as of tomorrow 5 of 7s will be in our kitchens preparing, cooking 1300 plus meals for Monday.

21.01.2022 How good are we. I'm the first one to put my hand up and moan about restrictions, masks, etc. But look, no active cases. That's because hard work prevails. Following covid requirements, temperature checking, recording data for tracing has been a huge job for us. It was great to be able to put away the thermometer and gloves, to get back to a semi covid normal. That's the good news. The bad news is covid has put a huge strain on families. We are hearing heart breaking st...ories every single day. It's only going to get worse. To add extra strain Christmas is around the corner as is getting ready for school next year. Books, uniforms, school fees, school camps. So many children WILL miss out from no fault of their own. It's absolutely heartbreaking. 21.01.2022 We use so many containers per week. With every meal comes a container. That's currently about 2000 take away containers a week. We ordered $1300 dollars worth of take away containers on Wednesday but our fav size is no longer available. Coles however have these. Take away square 950ml containers. For only $2.00 these are on our Wishlist. We love these containers, and need them desperately. Unfortunately we have blown our shrinking budget and need a little help to obta...in them. If you can help we thank you, if 16,000 buy one pack each we wont have to buy them for awhile. Wishful thinking, but miracles do happen right. We would like to thank you for your donations whether it be bank donations or other donations towards our feeding programmes. Every little bit certainly helps and trust me the people we serve hot meals to definitely appreciate your generosity as much as we do. 20.01.2022 We have been approached by Mr G. Through no fault of his own hes hit pretty shit times. He lost his job of 7 years last year, divorce, homelessness and no possessions. To put a long story short, life wasn't worth living. He told me tonight if it wasn't for him coming to our meals and reading our empowering messages he wouldn't be here today. Mr G is very proud, has found it hard asking for help. Currently in shared housing he wants to get back into the workforce so he c...an afford a house to call a home. Mr G has had an extensive working background. But due to his current situation is looking for work that isn't to stressful. Well spoken, instantly i thought of call centre work as he has vast experience in customer service and dealing with people through the building trade. Mr G has his own transport. If you are reading this and are in a position to help Mr G please message me. UPDATE on Mr X Via our community and our help Mr X is still in paid accommodation until the 12th. Mr X is looking at houses and may have a job starting early next week. He is here tonight and instead of tears he is smiling. Smiling because he can see past the darkness. Honestly he's a different guy to the broken man i first met last week.

19.01.2022 With alot of our volunteers back at work this week, we are seeking willing volunteers for afew hours every morning between 9 and 12pm. Duties include sorting of produce, filling shelves, cleaning, helping customers etc. Other duties available for volunteers who wish to volunteer from 10 to 4pm.... Alot are from people 30, 50, 100k away from us. If like The City of Casey other councils should have a list of food services in your area. Check their webpage. If you can't see anything give your local council a call. Next Google ask Izzy. Ask Izzy is a tool where by typing in your area code Izzy will search up all assistance whether it's food, accomodation, and other services in your local area. Help is out there. We want to help you. But due to restrictions you need to stay and use services in your area if able.

14.01.2022 I find it so hard to ask for help. But as a NFP charity there comes a time when we have to. People dont understand that we dont get government or any funding. We run based on fundraisers and the communities donations. Yesterday I put the call out to see if anyone could fix our trailer. We need this daily and is on the road 7 days a week from 5am to sometimes 10pm. We use it for all store pick ups and our food service, bbqs everything. Without this we could not bring y...ou food. out of 16k people a handful of people got tagged by others but 1 man contacted us and today paid in full 2 brand new gates for the trailer. No questions asked. Marc, what can we say. Over 2000 people that use our service one way or another per week need to say thank you to you. Because of you Craig is delivering over 700 meals tonight to the CBD hotels, and our night is uninterrupted, as will be our collections tomorrow. Craig and I personally would like to thank you, your a top bloke who deserves the recognition. So thanks again Marc, we appreciate your kindness and support. On another note, someone else messaged today and her uncle had passed away due to covid. In his memory she banked a $100.00 dollar donation. To have someone pass away during this pandemic is hard enough, but to think of others while grieving makes a special person. T the whole BK 2 Basics family would like to express our deepest sympathy. 10.01.2022 Hey team Kelly here. Craig and I have made the decision to close Saturday to spend time with our family. Our son got admitted to hospital xmas eve and Craig and I spent xmas day from 11am to 8pm with him. We didn't spend xmas with our other children or my parents. Son has now had 2 surgeries and hopefully is coming home tomorrow. I need to take my own advice and put my family first. We 100% want to be there for you but acouple of days off wont hurt. We have a huge amount of food here and are open from 10am to 1pm tomorrow. You may fill as many bags as you want tomorrow to see you through until Monday. Craig and I really appreciate your understanding and for the few that did know about our son, thank you for your prayers and support.

09.01.2022 We have been so busy all week and were very lucky we had big deliveries everyday. One of those were 3 pallets of milk. That's around 1400 bottles of milk being given out to families.

09.01.2022 Thanks to a beautiful person from our community Mr x now has afew nights in a hotel, with offers of other paid nights accommodation from other beautiful souls. From today his life just got alittle better. He has food, petrol and we have also hooked him up for job interviews next week. I love what I do. Tears are now happy tears.
