25.01.2022 G'day y'all. I was thinking today about a conversation I had with an older gentleman a couple of years ago when I had just started learning Bowen. I could see he was in pain (I would suspect plantar fasciitis now)and I suggested, because of my new found wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm, offering Bowen as a viable treatment. His answer went something like this "I don't believe in all that hippy new-age stuff. How do you know it works and it's not just all IN your head?" His ...tone was dismissive and a little scathing. It made me feel protective of my newfound modality and I felt the need to defend Bowen at that moment. I said "Mate, if it worked, it wouldn't matter if it were IN the boot of your car" he laughed and then we talked about the weather. His wife came out of the supermarket about 10 minutes later with her walker and he turned around and said, "What do ya think you could do for the missus?" I remembered thinking probably a lot but I won't get the chance. It was sad. The lady looked at him like he had slipped a gear and I said "I'm a Bowen Therapist" to which she nodded and asked "Local?" I said I wasn't but could recommend someone. Which I did. Now, I don't know if that lady ever contacted the Bowen Therapist I had recommended. I do know that a willingness to open the mind up to a new modality/treatment to ease your pain is half the battle though. I've been asked at times why it's not just the placebo effect with Bowen Therapy. My goto answer is I've worked on a toddler who would not sit still but calmed down within minutes of being given the first moves of Bowen. My nephews leg pain ceases and he goes to sleep on the table. I've spoken to Therapists who work with animals. It's a bit difficult to con a horse into thinking it's ok, when it's not. I know with myself that I was not a wholehearted advocate when I was first treated but after that very first treatment I felt relief. So whether you believe in it or not, whether you trust your own bodies ability to heal or even if you walk the earth as one of the biggest sceptics ever born, sometimes just giving something like Bowen a go can surprise you. Even if I have to fetch my Bowen Therapy out of the boot of the car I'm sure that it can help you. (I vacuumed the boot yesterday so it's clean.) Take care. See more
24.01.2022 DrZ makes a lot of sense to me. He’s not all doom and gloom and after seeing what goes on in ICU I completely understand what he’s saying. The title is a bit confronting but please don’t let that put you off. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WcRoLWusm80
24.01.2022 A bulletin from the Bowen Therapists Federation of Australia has recommended that all practitioners cease treating patients as of the 25/03/2020, until further notice. Therefore, until further notice, that is what will be happening here at Bowen Ease. Please be reassured though once we have the all clear we'll be back in business. I know you all will understand and with the co-operation of the community at large we'll have this virus beaten in no time. Stay safe.
24.01.2022 It's been a while and I do apologise for not being as active on FB as I could/should be. Life's a busy place some times. Of course the BIG elephant in the room at the moment is the... the approaching Zombie Apocalypse(Corona) I keep hearing that 70's song "My Sharona" (YouTube it, it’s been done )every time I hear it mentioned. I shouldn't make fun of it(I do know how serious Corona Virus is) but Toiletpaper Gate is not going to go down as one of our finer moments. People fi...ghting over dunny roll seems at best strange behaviour. Try to take my rump roast off me though and then you might have to beg for mercy. Really though, I could stand to lose a little um...voluptuousness, so you can have it. You're welcome. Lets get back on track. Our Immune system keeps us strong and protects us against external attacks eg virus, bacteria and emotional and physical stressors. Bowen addresses many of the problems which wreak havoc on our internal defence force. When we are stressed, both mentally or physically, we release chemicals into our system which promote an imbalance. Our bodies start getting out of whack(not a medical term) and end up giving off Auntie Oxidants(also not a medical term) which means "not good". So we need to take a breath, we've been here before, Stressville, and we survived. So if at this point in time stress and worry is a concern, pop on your trendiest mask, and head on over for a Bowen session. Stay safe. (Disclaimer: The above information is my take on what stress does. It does not imply that I am a medical practitioner of any kind. If you have serious concerns regarding the virus or health issues please see your Doctor) See more
24.01.2022 It's all about the clients choice.
23.01.2022 Although COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted for many businesses, I have made the decision to remain closed until the end of June. Please check back then for an update.
21.01.2022 Bowen Therapy is one of those occupations where people often feel comfortable enough to talk openly to you. I suppose lying fairly vulnerably on a massage table can do that to you. So I can safely say that people tell me a lot about themselves. A question I ask in my initial consult is how long have you had the pain and can you remember what triggered it. A lot say I don't know. Over the course of the treatment they'll say "I remember it was around Christmas last year, around... May just before I had my performance review at work or just before Mum passed away" Can you see the pattern? Stress. Be it work, relationship, financial or other stressors, our bodies react by releasing chemicals and these chemicals cause our muscles to get ready to fight, flee or freeze. That worked well when we were running away from Sabertooth Tigers, Mammoths and that mongrel hissing goose when I was 6(another story). Not so great now when all we have to run away from is bad reality shows and Ronnie at Maccas. Now a constant supply of the "good stuff" is keeping us as wired as a Mammoth stakeout on Saturday night at Ug's place. Meanwhile, we're left wondering why we hurt in weird places! Check out where you're shoulders are when you're stressed. They get closer and closer to your ears and this engages many muscles in the neck and the upper shoulders. Hello migraines and headaches. One of the wonderful things about Bowen is that it relaxes you. The first few moves reset your autonomic nervous system(from Mammoth slaying mode) and set you on your way to chillin'(Mammoth eaten mode). A certain amount of stress keeps us sharp but a common problem in society is that we are always engaged, we are always in fight, flee or freeze mode and our poor old bodies "just canno take any more Captain" so we burnout. So do yourselves a favour and head to your nearest Bowen Therapist for a reset. Even if you didn't have a little too much Christmas cheer and fell off the table at the Christmas party it will set you up for a great beginning to 2020. Take care. See more
17.01.2022 Hope you are all safe and well. The "ole" virus is definitely having a bit of an impact. Shelves at Woolies are looking pretty sad. Lot's of up sides though. Getting to spend more time with my significant other is always a plus. Thank God for big houses. Reorganising the office, twice, has been ah...therapeutic. I never knew I had 5 staplers and I don't know why I'd need that many. Needless to say some staplers are going to a new home. Old paperwork is being scanned and bin...ned, no more silverfish food. Found the Pen Monsters hiding place, apparently it likes stashing them behind the bookcase, along with paperclips. Going to have to set up a wildlife camera to catch the rotten critter. Amazing how much rubbish you can accumulate and that you really don't need. So Vinnies is going to get a donation when I can get there. Haven't even started on the wardrobe yet. Trying to part with my shoe collection could be a little more confronting than I want at the moment. Joined a new freelancing company called Freelancer, https://www.freelancer.com.au/hireme/Gazania1. That's about it for now. If I catch the Pen Monster I'll post a picture. I'll have to be verwy, verwy qwiet though. It's sneaky.(For those of us that remember Elmer Fudd) Take care. See more
15.01.2022 I've just finished my Dept of Health eLearn regarding Infection Control for COVID-19 (30 Mins course). It is open to all in the medical profession, aged care, education(I think) and "Other" (Me). However, I think it is fantastic for the general public as well. Very informative and Mythbusting. Overall standout message "WASH YOUR HANDS" and don't sneeze or cough on anyone.
09.01.2022 Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year to all. Hope 2020 is all you wish it to be. Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year to all. Hope 2020 is all you wish it to be.

06.01.2022 A BIG thank you to everyone who has supported and liked the Bowen Ease page. Lots of plans for 2020 and hoping that I’ll have y’all along for the journey.
02.01.2022 G'day everyone. I've decided to stay closed until November. With flu season in full swing and COVID still sneaking about I don't feel the risks are worth reopening at this time. Like a famous Austrian once said "I'll be back" when people stop . Stay safe and boost your immune system by buying one of my Tribest Blenders and make healthy food and stuff. I know shameless plug. Take care.
