24.01.2022 On Small Biz Matters this week: Pivot, Pirouette, Adapt and rewrite your business story THEN Does working online mean you need to charge less - even remotely? S...o do you remember when you first started & everybody said it would be a really good idea to find your niche? And now we find ourselves in this weird world where we suddenly have to pivot? Do you now have to throw your original business idea out with the bathwater? Or is it a matter of lateral thinking and tapping into new skills?. On Small Biz Matters, Psycho Stu Lloyd, an expert in pivoting will share some excellent ideas on how to shift your business in a new, more positive direction. THEN.. I have heard way too many times in the last few weeks of small business owners heavily discounting their rates simply because they were delivering their services online. So I asked myself, why was this occurring? Nothing has changed apart from the vehicle of delivery. Sure, budgets are being slashed all over the place but why are we so quick to accept? Tim Hoopmann, Beyond Blue Speaker, will share his wealth of experience to help us navigate this weird world. 20.01.2022 On Small Biz Matters this week: Pivoting from piloting to a worldwide small business PLUS Unpacking JK 2.0 The road to small business success is dotted with the... pitstops of life. Previous experiences, major milestones in your career, or successes and failures in a former working life. But with each of these comes important life lessons that help to build up the pallet of colours that create your small business success. But some of those transitions are bigger leaps than the norm. Take for example todays guest. Eric Peck from Swoop Aero who, in a former life was a Australian Air Force pilot. How could you possibly take such unique experiences & utilise those skills to create a small business? THEN... Jobkeeper. JK. Stimulus. Handout... No matter how you describe it, it has been a great illustration that we are living in the Lucky Country. But is it FAIR? Is it EQUITABLE? And was COVID a missed opportunity where some businesses should have folded? Financial frontline worker Nicole Lynch from Streamline Management who is now a JobKeeper ninja has unpacked JK 2.0 and guided clients through this minefield with finesse, expertise and just a little bit of hand-holding. #smallbizmatters #jobkeeper #pivotting #smallbusiness #pilotting #bookkeeping #accounting #communityradio

PLUS Who are your strategic partners to implement change man...agement process to grow your business? When the chips are down you need a peak body on your side. And boy are the chips down right now. 15.01.2022 On Small Biz Matters this week: We welcome two powerhouses in the small business world ~ Anne McKeown and Amanda Rose,. So, What is Neuro Linguistic Programming... and how can mindset help you achieve in small business? It is certainly not a topic many are thinking about right now as small business in Australia finds itself in crisis. But it is exactly that - mindset - which might help you dig your way out of that hole and it can come in many forms. Self talk, being thoughtful about how we communicate, & the programming that occurs as a result are all examples of NLP. So let's acknowledge it as a valuable business tool and start putting it to work. THEN... We talk a lot on this program about advocacy and how you, the listener, are a leader. You're passionate about small business whether that's you being more successful in your own business or mentoring someone less experienced. But what if you took it to the next level & made advocacy your core work; growing a successful business from the foundation of looking after others? 11.01.2022 On Small Biz Matters this week: How does a local council support small businesses and works with advocacy groups? It's all about Local right now. Shop Local, Bu...y Local, Support Local - it's everywhere! And it does not get more local than your local council. Their role in the community is constantly evolving - it's not just about Rates, Rubbish & Roads these days; we have an expectation that our local representatives understand how we operate not only as citizens but businesses too, and support us in that journey. Some councils achieve this brilliantly and others not so much. But could that be because you are not telling them what you need from them as a small business? But how are they supposed to represent you if you don't actually communicate what you need? Bottom line is you are not allowed to whinge about the problem unless you're part of the solution. So that means explaining what's wrong and how they can fix it. What do you need as a business to grow, create jobs and, as they say, keep it local. Joining us today is Steven Head, the General Manager of Hornsby Shire Council to explain how you as a small business (and community leader) can communicate what you need. They're open and willing to help! #advocacy #smallbusinesseducation #communityradio #itunespodcast

As small business owners we are often reminded to learn who our ideal client is and research this with gusto until we have a perfect image in our minds as to who they are and what makes them tick. We normally gather this info from anecdotal experiences and conversations with other business owners or mentors. But what if all this ideal info like location, B2B details, demographic, political persuasion, customs and habits, and social media use was already easily and freely available. There is a government department full of real boffins who are passionate about sharing this wealth of knowledge and when it comes to collecting, analysing and delivering this sort of data they have made it accessible and useful to small business - and now have a brand new website too! 10.01.2022 On Small Biz Matters this week: My experience of StartUp Support Programs - the Good and Bad and the Ugly With a welcome influx of innovative startups into our... small business community it is helpful for experienced small business owners and newbies to understand the Startup Support Landscape. Your idea can be grown, collaborated with, mustered, incubated, and accelerated so with no many opportunities to choose from (and pay for) the scene can appear cluttered. Beware to the inexperienced charlatans claiming to understand what it means to be starting out, or have any inkling of what the path to growth looks like. We need to have information to help our friends the startups and (insert descriptive text here)-Preneurs to navigate the brave new world. So we have invited Caroline Lepron (Aguesse), the founder of several successful startups including Skoutli to share with us the good, the bad and the ugly experience that is the Start Up Support world.
