18.01.2022 It is a very challenging time for everyone at the moment, particularly those in Victoria, and especially for those in our community with varying physical abilities. The following article from Vision Australia provides some useful tips for people who are blind or have low vision, such as attaching a tactile indicator to the mask to help identify the top of the mask and ensure it is being worn correctly. Please also be mindful of the impact of masks on deaf and hearing impaired people, as masks significantly impact on their ability to communicate effectively. Remember, not everyone can wear a mask safely, so please be aware of those around you, and choose kindness, support and understanding where you can.

06.01.2022 For people who are blind or vision impaired, COVID-19 presents a unique set of difficulties. Imagine the challenges if you cant see social distancing markings on the floor, new signs on the wall, or the screens that have been installed. Blind Citizens Australia have launched their #BeThatPerson campaign to raise awareness of how to assist people who are blind or vision impaired comply with physic...al distancing rules, and we are happy to support them. If you notice someone with a white cane or a guide dog looking confused or unsure, please dont grab them on the arm, or touch them or their guide dog.
