19.01.2022 Gospel MATTHEW 16:21-27 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. And Peter took him and began to rebuke him, saying, "God forbid, Lord! This shall never happen to you." But he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me; for you are not on the side of God, but of men." Then Jesus told his disci...ples, "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life? For the Son of man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay every man for what he has done. See more

13.01.2022 Today is Child Protection Sunday. The Catholic Church in Australia marks Child Protection Sunday on the second Sunday of September - at the conclusion of National Child Protection Week. Child Protection Sunday seeks to acknowledge the immense damage caused by the sexual abuse of children, including by priests, religious and lay people within Catholic contexts. It makes a commitment to practices and protocols that create and maintain safe environments for all people, especially children and other people who are at risk. It invites people to pray for those harmed by abuse directly and indirectly.

11.01.2022 Today marks Social Justice Sunday. The Social Justice Statement 2020-21, To Live Life to the Full: Mental health in Australia today, encourages faith communities, governments and individuals to make mental health a priority. Parishes and local communities are called to be places of welcome and inclusion, overcoming the barriers and stigma often faced by people experiencing mental ill-health. It demands the commitment of governments and policy-makers to prevent so many people ...falling through the cracks of the mental health system. It also calls for the nations commitment to address those policies that exacerbate the already precarious circumstances of First Australians and refugees and asylum-seekers. Bishop Anthony has written a reflection on the Statement. https://www.bbcatholic.org.au//bishop-anthonys-reflection-
