25.01.2022 For those last minute edits we are here to help

20.01.2022 I often get asked to edit assignments and papers by students. Time permitting, I encourage students to put their work aside for a week and not look at it in that time - or two days as a minimum. Then I ask them to proof their own work for typos and errors in grammar. This will save them money in the long run. The less time I spend changing 'an' for 'a' or adding commas for a pause, or capitalising proper nouns, means the less financial outlay for the student. Even better is t...o take note of the corrections I make so that next time the student writes, they will improved their own editing skills. Microsoft is not sufficient these days, particularly when there is confusion over whether to use English or American grammar. Having work returned covered in red ink can be demoralising especially when those simple errors cost marks. 12.01.2022 I was talking with a client today about some changes I had made to their document. They were concerned that I had mis-spelt 'programme'. Unless your settings in word are set to English, you too will make the same mistake. Word is an American product, and is therefore pre-programmmed to auto-correct against the American dictionary.
