17.01.2022 Violet has had a very busy Term 4 so far. Students have enjoyed all the events that have occurred, like Multicultural Day and NAIDOC Day. We loved learning about Croatia and the reason we celebrate NAIDOC day. We are also super excited for Kindaimanna Day tomorrow! Students in Violet have been working hard in reading groups, writing and maths where they have been using a Learning Intention and Success Criteria (LISC) to measure their success. They use this during lessons to see what is expected and whether they will be a 1, 2 or 3 star learner.

17.01.2022 Over the last 4 weeks, Stage 1 have been exploring imaginative and persuasive writing that has been based around the book "The Bear and the Piano" by David Litchfield. Mrs McKay has been helping us with our writing. We have written diaries pretending that we were the bear and now we are creating a billboard advertising poster, trying to persuade people to come and watch the most famous piano playing bear in the world, perform! A group in stage 1 were also investigating cubes in Mathematics. We constructed hollow, skeletal and solid cubes. Here are some of our results! Fantastic!

16.01.2022 Students in Amethyst recently participated in a debate with students in Violet about All students should NOT have a pet. They’ve also been practicing their skills playing a team sport. The aim of the game was to throw the ball as an underarm throw that had to go above the head. Students also enjoyed the activities that were part of Kindaimanna Day that was celebrated this Term.

11.01.2022 A quick throwback to some of last week’s Halloween fun

09.01.2022 Students in Red have been working on informative writing and retelling facts about different Australian animals such as salt water crocodiles and native bees. Their interest in the land that they live on has also filtered into their art this term and they have been busy creating beautiful coral reef inspired works using a range of mediums.

07.01.2022 Kindaimanna Day is a day where Aboriginal culture is shared and celebrated at Busby Public School. It looked a little different this year, but it was a fabulous day none the less.

01.01.2022 Azure are marvellous mathematicians! During mathematics in Azure students have been learning about data. They have been learning about what data is and what do we do with it. Students now know that data is information and first they need to collect it, organise it, display it in a graph and then interpret the graph. Students worked in pairs and small groups to create graphs using concrete materials and then drew their graph on paper. They have also been working on asking questions where they get the answer from reading their graph. In mathematics we have also been building our number sense and place value skills. Students made their own two and three digit numbers and then had to partition these numbers into their smaller parts.

01.01.2022 A note was sent home this afternoon with students regarding the changes made to Water Fun Day. Dear Parents and Caregivers, Due to the forecast weather conditions, we will need to change our water fun day plans.... We will no longer have any water activities. Students will still have a disco and will now have a movie session through the day. Our pizza lunch will go ahead as planned. If you have not placed an order, please do so immediately. So, in light of this change, please do not send your child to school in swimming attire. Students may wear mufti clothes but must wear fully enclosed shoes. Kind Regards, Mrs Brasier Assistant Principal Lisa Ritherdon Principal

01.01.2022 Students in Emerald have enjoyed their learning and the school events of Term 4, including Halloween and Multicultural day. Students have continued to develop their research and literacy skills and explored 3D shapes in maths.
