25.01.2022 This is your weekend button quiz! I have this lovely card of Fairy Story buttons, depicting Cinderella, her Fairy Godmother and her magic coach .Although they are on their original sales card and in perfect condition, one of them has something missing. can you spot the difference?

24.01.2022 A current favourite. Not sure what fruit is supposed to be represented by the "bubbles" in this basket, but it does look luscious.

22.01.2022 Unusual button subjects - buttons for blokes! Many button collectors enjoy seeking out buttons which depict unusual subjects. here are 2 buttons with pictures i have never seen on a button before. Both subjects are of a masculine nature.

20.01.2022 I sell vintage knitting patterns as well as buttons in my Etsy store, so i am always excited when I can put the two things together - finding buttons I recognise on an illustration a pattern. Here's an example: I often see these buttons around, in a variety of sizes and colours. They are early 1950s ( just like the pattern!) and may be of Australian manufacture.

19.01.2022 Buttons pictured in a book of knitting patterns for toddlers, c.1920. Little buttons that look like mother of pearl fasten the shoulders of a lacy little dress. I wonder what the big buttons on the coat are made of?

19.01.2022 Looking through a random jar of buttons purchased in a second hand store when I came across this stunning 'crinoline lady' cut from a sheet of casein. She looks as though she could be related to the Wee Willie Winkie I have had for many years. I've never seen anything like these elsewhere. They are much larger than the realistic casein animals I find from time to time (cats, bunnies etc) and much more detailed. The lady is 4cm tall.

16.01.2022 These little vegetable ivory buttons are just so cute! I have such a weak spot for buttons that look like faces. Someone told me they thought they were pig faces. I'm more inclined to see a baby with a dummy ( pacifier) in ts mouth. What do you think?

14.01.2022 Another group of same/different buttons. All available for sale - just comment "SOLD". I'm happy to combine postage and to post internationally. Prices in $AUS.

14.01.2022 One of the areas of collecting that most interests me is buttons with Australian animals and plants. So thrilled to find these little kookaburras in a jar from a second hand store. They are made of plastic - amino resin, and probably date to the 1950s. They have been used ,and the hand painted detail is a little worn.

13.01.2022 Optical illusions : Or why is there a dice on this Button page? Answer in the comments.

12.01.2022 Lovely reverse carved lucites are definitely ready for their close up on Japanese fabric

08.01.2022 An advertisement from 1951. When button makers cared about your garments.

08.01.2022 A few interesting backmarks that have lately come my way. Amino Rein button: USA Wood button, imitating a fabric or leather button : Czechoslovakia

07.01.2022 A bad day at the button factory! Found these (and more) all together in a tin. No holes, double holes and holes in odd positions! They are also different thicknesses and different shapes in contour. Still, someone put them away for 80 years or more on the grounds that they "might be useful". I'd quite like to see them sewn on to a garment.

06.01.2022 Black glass cameo button. looks like a Bimini type form the front, but instead of a metal plate and shank it has a self shank. Could the maker be Englass?

06.01.2022 The funny things you find! I was trying to match a button for a customer when I came across these 2 - one plastic and one glass, but the design is the same except for the centre being reversed - one concave, one convex. almost as though someone had just pushed the button inward with their thumb! Unfortunately the buttons my client wanted to match was the convex one, but in plastic, not in glass. It's out there somewhere.

06.01.2022 The Vegetable Ivory Fairy has been smiling on me lately. I've recently come by this amazing golfer button ( you can even see the detail in his fair isle sweater) and a button with a vegetable ivory frame and a celluloid centre!

05.01.2022 From time to time I'll be creating sales on this page! The first is a Same/different sale - collections of buttons in the same design, but differing in size and/or colour. Payment is via Paypal - I will send you an invoice. Postage is extra - I ship anywhere, and will happily combine shipping to reduce your costs. Please comment "SOLD" on the sets you want! '

05.01.2022 Just wanted to share this lovely button. It has a Bimini Glass horse in blue glass set within a gold glazed ceramic frame. 2 shanks, due to its size and weight, and both have the bimni "Tree in Pot" backmark
