10.01.2022 Choreographer and dancer Martin del Amo has just wrapped up a two week residency for the second development of his new solo work ‘Mirage’. I very much appreciate C-A-C’s continued support and commitment to the development of my new full-length dance work ‘Mirage’. This two-week residency was invaluable. I relished the opportunity to keep working with my collaborators Miranda Wheen (associate artist/dancer) and Sonya Lifschitz (musical director/pianist). It was actually the ...first time that all three of us got to spend time together in the studio. During the first development in April we worked remotely, due to COVID. I can’t wait to make the work presentation-ready next year, and for audiences to experience it. 08.01.2022 Today we celebrate the beginning of #NAIDOC2020. We pay our respects to the Dharawal people who are the traditional custodians of the land C-A-C is located on, whose deepening connection to culture and customs have cared for this country for over 60,000 years. We acknowledge Elders past, present and emerging for their immense spiritual connection to place which was never ceded. Dharawal land has always been recognised as a meeting place for people from other lands, and in th...is spirit we respectfully continue this tradition through the bringing together of our communities through arts and culture. This Always Was and Always will be Aboriginal land. Featured are works by Yirran Miigaydhu from their third group exhibition at C-A-C. Yirran Miigaydhu is a women’s weaving program for Aboriginal women in South West Sydney to connect and embrace knowledge. The group meet once a month at C-A-C and are led by established weaver and artist Aunty Phyllis Stewart, learning traditional and contemporary methods with natural fibres and grasses such as Lomandra and vines which are harvested in the surrounding area.
