22.01.2022 +++ BOOK WEEK SHENANIGANS +++ Last week we celebrated Book Week. The children were asked to bring in their favourite books for us to read together. We’ve had so much fun and saw lots of great customers! We’ve had a little piggy, Elsa from Frozen, Chase & Rubbel from Paw Patrol, Firefighters, a little bear, Fancy Nancy’s dressed up in pink tutus, George the farmer and Princess Leia from Star Wars. Well done to everyone for making such an effort!! ... We’ve also had a lovely picnic outside as the weather was absolutely perfect for it! 22.01.2022 +++ CRAZY HAIR & VEGGIES +++ This week we picked up on were we left off last week: our veggie garden! Thanks to Amy Stephens and Don Killick for donating spinach, broccoli and spring onion and many other seeds and seedlings. We got super grubby, dug ginormous holes and planted tiny seeds. After all that gardening we had fun doing up our hair for today’s crazy hair day. Lots of glitter went everywhere and we’ll have another go tomorrow, because....why not ?

21.01.2022 TO PLANT A GARDEN..... Yesterday, we planted some seeds in our discovery garden from Woolworth. We will now water them and watch them grow. If you happen to have some Woolworth discovery garden seeds at home but don’t want them, feel free to bring them in. We can use them here and pop them in our veggie garden. Also, Emma dropped off our first full shuttle of cans and bottles at the recycling place in Geraldton on the weekend. A big THANK YOU to Shaun from Elders for loading it, the Carnamah Hotel for filling it up so quickly and Don for helping to organise it all. Your help is highly appreciated!!!

We also have a new temporary friend at our Centre: He belongs to our friend Hamish. We are looking after it for him. And since the kids are missing Hamish, we re-named the fish Hamish. This coming week we will be celebrating BOOK WEEK. So please bring your favourite book for us to read together. And if you have a costume and would like to dress up, please do so!! Can’t wait to see you all tomorrow!!

15.01.2022 FUN AND GAMES....AND HORSES Over the last couple of weeks we’ve been blessed with some rather warm weather... for us this means that the outside games are in full swing. The kids made snow for our animals out of shaving foam and added glitter and food colouring. After that all animal of course had to have a wash in the swamp.... because who can resist water play when the sun is out... We have also been practicing our sustainability by using recycled craft ma...terials donated by our families. We made pirate ships, eye patches and race tracks, tunnels and car ramps. And last but not least we’ve had one very special visitor: A huge thank you to Mrs Sivyer for bringing in her horse Megs to meet the children. We all gave Megs a careful pet and couldn’t stop talking about our long-legged visitor. How exciting....

14.01.2022 SMOOTHIES & POOCHIES Yesterday, our shared fruit bowl was mostly bananas so we decided to make healthy smoothies with the children for something different! Miss Jess went home and got her blender and after a quick trip to IGA for some cups, milk and rice malt syrup we were ready to go. The children helped add the ingredients and then watched as Miss Jess whizzed it all up. All the children had a taste and most of them asked for a second cup! This was a great way to ...use all our bananas and a fun way for the children to enjoy a healthy treat. While the children were waiting we talked about the colour yellow and danced to the baby monkey song. We also had a cute and fluffy visitor: One of our children’s new puppy, Elsa.

14.01.2022 NEW KIDS,NEW LAMBS,NEW TOYS Despite the current sewage difficulties, we’ve still had a great week! First we welcomed a couple of new kids into our child care! We were very excited to meet them and they instantly joined in for a big play!! We also received a big order of Afgri tractors and toys. We had to unpack and play with them straight away. There was no stopping us!! Who doesn’t love a big green tractor! ... And lastly we had a visit from Molly the lamb. Of course we gave her lots of cuddles and pets and even fed her a big bottle of milk! What a great week it has been..... See more

13.01.2022 WELCOME BACK & HAPPY RECYCLING First of all: We could not be more excited to have you all back in 2021. And welcome to some new faces including Miss Tanya who has joined our team as a new educator. Furthermore: ... We’re currently working on setting up a collection point for the CASH FOR CANS recycling scheme. So if you have any cans and bottle you’d like to get rid off, please bring them over to the childcare. You’ll find our collection shuttle out the front of the service. A big thank you to Nutrien Ag Solutions for donating the shuttle. All funds raised will go back towards our children and our beautiful centre!! We will also be applying for a special grant to hopefully get a rain water tank, a worm farm and a chicken coop! We will hatch our own chooks again this year in the incubator. We already have our veggie gardens that some of our families harvest regularly for healthy dinners. We also aim to reduce food wastage by saving the scraps to feed one of our families chooks and hopefully soon our own. Reduce, reuse, recycle to make the world a better place for our children!!

13.01.2022 ++ DEAR FLU, NOBODY LIKES YOU ++ Dear parents, There are some very nasty illnesses going around at the moment.... Please keep your children at home if they are even the tiniest bit unwell - cough, runny nose, temperature, headache, tummy ache, aching muscles, sore throat, sore eyes, etc etc. Please also keep your mobile phone close at hand in case your child becomes unwell while they’re here and we need to call you to collect them. No absence fees will be charged. Thank you.

We are so grateful to have both councils supporting us once again!... Also a big Thank You to all the amazing individuals from both communities who have donated. We could not have done it without you!!! It is amazing to see how you all get together and help us out over and over and over again!!! Thank you!! So, if you’d like to drop off your cans and bottles for us to cash in and put towards our children & centre, please do so anytime outside the childcare centre. ... Also a HUGE thank you to the Carnamah Hotel, One L and the Carnamah Bowling Club for jumping on board and kindly saving all their stubbies for us!! In total, we now have 4 shuttles. 05.01.2022 + HALLOWEEN, CREEPY CRAWLIES & WATERPLAY We’ve had such a busy week and some amazing Halloween costumes. Parents, you put some real effort in. Thank you so much! Much appreciated! Because it was such a warm week, we did a lot of waterplay. And when it got too hot for waterplay outside, we went inside for some crafting. Lots of colourful paintings and some beautiful friendship bracelets were send home for the parents to enjoy. ... The warmer weather also brought out a couple of creepy crawlies aka bobtails. Miss Emma caught them and relocated them somewhere safe away from the children. But first we learned about their blue tongues and talked about not touching any reptiles, we need to tell an adult when we see one.... Enjoy the rest of your weekend and we can’t wait to see you all next week!!

03.01.2022 DON’T FORGET TO DRESS UP FOR HALLOWEEN We’ve had some great costumes so far: Mermaids, princesses, minions, scary owls, ladybirds and more!
