25.01.2022 Curious about Chelsea's old cinema? Here's some material from a historical study council commissioned in 2001. And at one time there was a second cinema in The Strand but that's long gone.

23.01.2022 With the works in the area Platform 1 Chelsea is no longer directly accessible from the underpass. You will have to walk much further & cross Nepean Hwy twice. Allow at least 5 to 8 more minutes if catching the train until further notice.

23.01.2022 For those catching trains, they're out due to an equipment fault. From Chelsea or Edithvale you're better off getting the 902 bus to Springvale then a train from there given how long replacement buses will take. Or drive to Mordialloc?

21.01.2022 A Stakeholder Liaison Group meeting with the LXRP was held today. Upcoming disruptions shown below. Key points: * Works will continue during COVID Stage 4 restrictions * Community updates have been less (especially direct mail) due to government restricting communication due to COVID, inability to do direct letter box drops and unreliability of Australia Post. It is recommended people sign up for email updates via the Level Crossing Removal website. They are endeavouring to ...increase the frequency of these. * A lot of the work that's been happening has been utility relocation eg power, water, sewage, gas. Piling works will start later this month/next month. This will mostly be during the day but some may be done at night. People nearby will be advised. * Issues with advice of alternatives when bus stops are moved and pedestrian crossings are closed for works. They undertook to chase up and improve information (there have been cases in Edithvale where multiple closures have extended walking distances by 1km for people going to the shops which is not ideal). Good directions to alternative crossings are particularly important. * Agreement with Kingston council with Chelsea Rd - The Strand pedestrian bridge. Stone used in bench will be used to honour Cr Beardsworth in area (currently a stone bench with plaque but bench can't be saved). * Chelsea station underpass will remain available for use until approximately mid 2021. * The contribution and suggestions from CBTS re local vegetation were acknowledged (we had a separate meeting with LXRP). * Pedestrian crossing plans are close to completion and will be released 'soon' (later this year). Timing mainly dependent on when their restrictions on communications are lifted. This is a lot of 'devil in the detail' stuff eg locations need to be convenient and, where lights are used instead of zebra crossings, we don't want long signal cycle times that encourage people to cross against the lights. * 1800 105 105 is the phone number if there's concerns you have about the work being done or safety issues at Edithvale, Chelsea or Bonbeach.

19.01.2022 Latest news from the Level Crossing Removal Project.

18.01.2022 Metro has improved how they present planned train disruptions on their website with a calendar style. Select Frankston line from here for us. https://www.metrotrains.com.au/planned-works/

17.01.2022 Chelsea will get a new pedestrian bridge as part of the level crossing removal works. It will allow a connection across from Chelsea Rd to Nepean Hwy. Some details below.

17.01.2022 Do you use the Fraser Avenue pedestrian crossing? Have the closures inconvenienced you? Do you think there should be a shuttle bus for those who use it to get to the shops (like done elsewhere) when Edithvale Rd crossing is also shut? We'd like your thoughts for a possible email to the LXRP as some concerns have been expressed.

13.01.2022 $100 vouchers up for grabs! Comments on your neighbourhood's liveability and ideas for improvement.

11.01.2022 From the LXRP: You might hear some noise from the rail corridor overnight due to works from 19 October. Details below:

09.01.2022 How far is 5km? From Chelsea it's roughly Mordialloc to Patterson Lakes and across to Aspendale Gardens and Chelsea Heights. Even the Eastern Treatment Plant. People in northern Chelsea can cross the creek into Mordialloc but those in the south cannot. People in Bonbeach can go to Seaford but those in Chelsea can't. Drop a pin on your home to find the distance here. https://2kmfromhome.com/ More details on the restrictions including the 8pm - 5am curfew, here: https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/statement-changes-melbournes
