23.01.2022 A friend made up some trophies for the category winners, here is a few of them. Polish up your bike and you may take one of these home. The Category's are Road Track MTB Choppers... BMX Ladies Coasters Geared Hubs These will be judged, I will be using two judging panels, I haven't organized any judges yet, so I will be asking people for the 1st judging panel on Sunday Morning. When you register your bike, you have to nominate the category you what you bike in. If you are not sure about anything ask me. Graeme 0411 073 974 or see me on the day. There is also a trophy for "best in show" this is voted by the attendees. When people enter the field were the bikes are every one will be given a voting form, there will be a box to put the entries into. The entry into the field is $5 for one person, $10 for two, $10 for family's.Folk bringing in bikes to display are free, sellers pay $5. Any one can leave a donation or bring along something for the raffle prize pool. Photo of a bike I bought this week, an old unicycle, I'm loving it!! I also bought a cast iron ram, I would like to put it on my Shearers Ride bike, but it weigh me down to much, it's very old maybe 1920s.
23.01.2022 Every thing is chugging along for the bicycle show, I picked up the labels for the trophy's today. Also some good news, a very passionate bike collector and seller of quality bicycle parts is attending. Petey Nibia Mac (message Peter on FB) Peter has attended almost every bicycle show in Australia over the last 5 or more years. If you are looking for parts or bikes message him this week and he may be able to bring something up for you. I have put my order in!!! Mackay frame ...builder Paul Ketelaar is also attending, he brings a wealth of knowledge with him as well. A few groups from Mackay have told me they will be attending. The weather is looking good for travelers this year, last year we were being told to prepare for torrential rain during the bike show weekend. I picked up a another bike today. A Bianchi Camaleonte, kind of a hi-bred, touring bike. My third Bianchi, it will be better for riding around Mount Morgan instead of using a single speed. See more
22.01.2022 It’s on again, the annual event everyone in Mount Morgan and Central Queensland has been waiting all year for. The Central Queensland Old School Bicycle Show and Swap Meet is on at The Leichhardt Hotel for its second year. From 10 am until 2pm on Sunday 19 th July, the Morgan and East Streets area will become the bicycling central for Queensland. Polish up your best old bike, bikes, and bring them along. If you have any bicycle related things to sell, bring it along, it is $...5 for a swap site. The entry into the bike paddock is $5, folk that bring their bike to show, get into the paddock for free. There will be raffles, and a guess the bike weight completion, a donation box to help offset some costs and to help with planning and promoting for next year. Live music is by Pedro, in the beer garden, good food for lunch. The most important thing that must be done by everyone, is to sign in when you arrive, this is for the Covid-19 regulations. I have measured the field, paddocks were the bike will be displayed; we can have over 60 people in there at a time. Believe me I will be very happy if I have to ask some people to step outside for a while. The beer garden and other areas around the hotel can take more people so there will be plenty of room. People can come and go from the bike show, my suggestion is to walk across to East Street and visit the Collectables and Memories shop and buy heaps of stuff!!! I will have some of my own bicycles from my personal collection on display of there as well. There is the museum to visit and the Number 7 Gallery is across the road in Morgan Street. The Gallery is a new shop in town, it is worth a look. Photos are of some of my bike when I lived in Brisbane, unfortunately I have sold a couple. See more
21.01.2022 Well over a month since the event but that means less than 10 months to start a project the next one. The Leichhardt Hotel are happy to have us back, the venue worked well, so we will be back there early July 2020. Thanks again to every one that helped me out during the day and for everyone that supported the event. I am looking towards next years event and improving further on this great event. If anyone has any feedback/suggestions for next year, please ... feel free to comment, send a PM or call me. Hopefully I will get a couple of projects finished during the year. Cheers Graeme
21.01.2022 Bike show weekend is fast approaching so I thought that I had better start giving out more information. The show will go from 10 am to 2 pm, we ran late last year, I will try to lift my game this year!!!! The gates to the hotel back yard (52 Morgan Street) will be open from 8:30, plenty of time to bring things in. The sellers will be in the area just inside the gate; hopefully cars can drive in to unload. All bikes must be pre 2000, but there can be modern bits on it. The eve...nt is designed to be casual. There will be stands to put bikes in, but you can bring your own stands. The bikes on the field will not be in categories, so if you bring 5 different bikes you can group them together and sit with them, if you want to. The categories are listed below, when you bring your bike/s in you can nominate the category it is for. Road Track MTB Choppers BMX Ladies Coasters Geared Hubs This year there will be costs. Entry into the field will be $5.00 per person and $10.00 for a family. $5.00 for a stall to sell goods. If stall holders would like a table let me know, the price will be carrying to back across the road after the show. There will be a raffle and a completion to help with the costs as well. Pedro will be back again to play the tunes in the beer garden. There will be food available at the pub; there are other places to eat in Mount Morgan as well. With the Covid rules still in place we will have to adhere to them. I will not go in to this now, but there will be signs up on the day. See more
21.01.2022 Hi all, at the moment I am still going ahead with the Bike Show on Sunday 19th July. Hopefully by then restrictions will be a lot less. If the pub is still closed I have a couple other venues in mind. I will start advertising in full force after 11 th May, the road ahead for this wonderful country should be clearer then. Meanwhile keep rebuilding those old bikes. If you are feeling down, call a mate, if no mates answer, message your phone number and I will call you or get one of my mates to. Stay safe every one cheers Graeme.

19.01.2022 I was too busy on Sunday to take photos of my bikes on East Street and inside the shops next to Collectables and Memories. Here is a couple as well as the winning bikes. Thanks again to all the people who help me me put this together, from people that gave me money, prizes and trophy's, to every one that chipped in during the day and people that loaned me things. I am very grateful, thanks heaps.
18.01.2022 I have been busy sorting through 2 collections I have bought in the last 2 weeks. One is almost done, the other is very large, thousands of items, it will take me months. I am trying to make room by selling off some bulky items. I have beer cans that I left sitting in a box, selling the overseas ones for 1 dollar each, the Australian ones going cheap. I have lots more beer and soft drink can, but I will be sorting them out into sets. Door and chair I will post up more details soon.
17.01.2022 With the travel restrictions lifted, we welcome almost all Australians to the bike show. Social distancing will apply but the venue will easily accommodate us. The Liechhardt Hotel opened today, so it is all go, I taste tested some of their menu yesterday, its basic, good food, a little different. All I have to sweat on now is the weather, so hoping for a good fine day. An unbranded 20 inch boys bike I picked up last week. Easy restore, date unknown, I will put the original Westwood rims back on.

13.01.2022 A video of last years event, thanks Peter. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=677195122755591
13.01.2022 I have not doing much bike stuff, but as the time rolls along to this years show, Sunday 19th July 2020, I will getting some bikes finished. The bad news is (for me) that the owner of the shop I have been storing some of my bikes in wants to sell it, so I had to move some bikes out. I was going to photo the bikes as I moved them, but that didn't really happen. #thingstodoinrockhampton
09.01.2022 i wrote a story for the Mount Morgan Argus about the bike show, here is the scoop. Sunday morning was a beautiful winter’s day here in Mount Morgan, at 8 am, when I opened the gate to let the people waiting to bring their bikes in for the 2020 Central Queensland Old School Bicycle Show and Swap Meet. The sun was shining and there was no wind, it was perfect. The field started to fill up quickly as people wheeled their bikes in, and the swappers and sellers set up there stalls.... At 10 am the public started flowing in to admire the bikes and doing deals with the sellers. The swap area was busy for most of the time; I spoke to a few people that told me they found some good bargains, one person I know found a part that he never thought he would ever find. Some people were lucky to find parts to finish builds. It is always a challenge when rebuilding a twenty to fifty year old bicycle back to its original condition to find all the period correct parts. That is part of the attraction of events like this, bringing like minded people together. Peter Mc drove his van up from Grafton full of parts to sell. Other people came from Mackay, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, as well as the Rockhampton region to show off their bikes, sell and buy parts. The field was very busy with about 70 machines on display. With a very good cross section of bikes, although there were only 2 BMXs and 3 MTBs, the rest of the categories were very well represented. The actual quality of the bicycles on display was higher than last year. It made it hard for the judges to pick between so many beautiful well turned out machines, in one category the difference was the quality of the saddles, another category was won because one bike had the most period correct parts. The bicycles are all over 20 years old, riders will change things when parts wear out or become outdated. I will change some of the categories for next year’s show to better suit the bikes that are being bought in to display. During the day a steady stream of people came in to look and the bicycles and chat to the owners who where never far away. Lots of folk had lunch at the hotel, the roast lamb was excellent and kept the kitchen busy. I had recently purchased time trial / triathlon bike from Phil Anderson, a famous Australian cyclist from the 1980s; in 1981 he was the first Australian to wear the yellow jersey in the Tour de France. Phil’s bike was used in a guess the weight of the bike competition. The bike weighed 7. 64 kg, the winner was Elizabeth G who came in at 7.62 kg. The best in show bike is voted by the public, this year it was won by John Fisher and his beautiful Malvern Star Skidstar GT. A real labour of love, this bike has been restored to its original showroom condition. See more
04.01.2022 I have received some photos, here is a selection. Could the category winners please add their details in the comments, I cannot read me notes. If you have photos, please post them up or message them to me. Also if you want a photo removed, please message me, thanks Graeme
04.01.2022 SUNDAY 19TH JULY 2020 Just a heads up for next year. I am planning for the event to be held again at the Leichhardt Hotel in Mount Morgan. The date for the bike show will be Sunday 19 July 2020. The Gold Rush Hill Sprint is on the weekend before, 11 and12 July . I bought a nice old child seat yesterday and a couple of current projects, cheers Graeme. I have updated this post.
02.01.2022 Open this, there is an article about the bike show in it. The hill climb story is a good read too.
02.01.2022 I took my bobber to the Motors on the Mount swap met today. Just to bling up my friends stall and to try to get some customers down to my shop. The bobber was built by a bloke in Rocky 5 or 10 yes ago, its not really old schoo, but it sort of is. I put a poster on it advertising next years event. The CQ Old School Biycle Show and Swap Meet will be held in July 2020. No firm date yet, but will be on a Sunday on early July, during the first or second week of the Tour de Fance. Plenty of time to start a new build.
