22.01.2022 60 years today one of Cheltenham’s finest, Kevin ‘Noofa’ Roberts made his debut for StKilda V’s Carlton at Junction Oval. Noofa was recruited from Cheltenham, where he played as a full-back winning a Federal League best and fairest. A left footer, he became a half forward flanker at St Kilda and kicked three goals in a narrow semi final loss to Melbourne at the MCG in 1963. ... He often played next Darrel Baldock. He came off the bench as an interchange in the 1965 VFL Grand Final loss to Essendon, strangely enough wearing number 24 in this match instead of his usual number 23. After kicking 17 goals in his first eight games in the 1966 VFL season, Roberts broke his collarbone against Melbourne and as a result missed the 1966 premiership win. Noofa’s last VFL match was at the Lakeside Oval V’s South Melbourne 10th May 1969. He also played for Oakleigh in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) after retiring from StKilda. Roberts returned to Cheltenham Football Club and played until 35 years old. Later he returned to the St Kilda Football club as a player development officer, coaching young recruits the likes of Tony Lockett and Rod Owen. He also served as a senior runner for Alex Jesaulenko in the early 1980s and for Darrel Baldock in 1987. VFL Career Stats: Seasons 1960 - 1969 106 Games, 110 Goals.

20.01.2022 As a club we have been fortunate to hold successful Anzac lunches and tribute matches. These lunches over the years have been attended by many past players. Disappointingly this season all Anzac Day events and lunches have been cancelled. What about this idea to stand and remember on Anzac Day?

20.01.2022 The President and Committee members of Cheltenham FNC this morning received the unfortunate sad news our current committee member and life member Bryan Ford passed away after a long heroic battle. His contribution to the club has been exceptional and without his fundraising efforts the club would not be where it is today. Bryan is pictured receiving his life membership from fellow life member John Rowe in 2018. RIP BRYAN FORD

16.01.2022 Here are a few footy records from a few years ago. Thanks to Grant Low for providing theses treasures.

12.01.2022 We are pleased to announce the reappointment of Des Ryan as senior football coach for season 2021. Des will be joined by former Richmond teammate, Justin Picker...ing as his senior assistant coach, with Greg Barclay and Scott Mellick to steer the reserves. Des and his team again did a wonderful job during the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to prepare our players, and our club, if the 2020 season were to commence. We look forward to continuing that work together as we head towards 2021 in an effort to bring that long-awaited Division 1 flag back to Jack Barker Oval in what will be (belatedly) our 130th season. Go Rosellas! #UnfinishedBusiness #OneClub See more

10.01.2022 UPDATE ON SEASON 2020 Eastern and Northern might have canned their seasons, but the other metropolitan leagues will wait until June 22 to make their final calls. Their D-Day coincides with a further easing of State Government COVID-19 restrictions relating to sport and exercise.... But before then the leagues are expecting to receive from AFL Victoria a return-to-play plan, with AFL Victoria and the State Government working to finalize a return-to-play plan, with a mid-July kick-off being widely predicted. They have fingers crossed it will name potential starting dates mid to late July is being widely tipped and address the issue of crowds being permitted to attend matches. Southern league chief executive Lee Hartman is convinced there will be an opportunity to play. I’m confident there will be a window,’’ Hartman said. But it’s just about seeing what it looks like with crowds, the requirements on volunteers to get it up and running and so on. But I’m confident there will be an opportunity. Hopefully we can shortly receive a return-to-play date and from there we’ll continue to plan. We’re meeting with our clubs again later in the week. We’re continuing to plan if we get that date or not.’’ Hartman said Southern would not be influenced by the decision of Eastern and Northern to pull up sticks.
