25.01.2022 When you feel happy, relaxed and confident - the neurotransmitter SEROTONIN, aka 'The Happy Hormone', is responsible! Having the perfect balance of serotonin is important for clients, as having either too low or too high levels can have detrimental effects. Low levels of serotonin are linked to: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, insomnia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder & low self-esteem.... Whereas, excessive amounts of serotonin can cause: nervousness, shyness, hypersensitivity to criticism & a lack of motivation When it comes to effectively coaching a client, knowing your clients personality type will help you communicate with them more effectively & can help direct what type of training and nutrition plan will be best suited to them! TRAINING: Serotonin dominant clients tend to be fun, outgoing and tend to prefer playing sports or doing group classes. For these clients, you will need to make the workouts fun, flexible and exciting as they wont do well being confined to a set program NUTRITION: You can also manipulate & optimize a client's serotonin levels through their nutrition, which can help with managing stress & promoting better sleep through carb intake! Learn more about serotonin in our latest article, 'The Happy Hormone & Its Effect On Your Client'. Read it here: https://chfi.click/KALhrN See more

21.01.2022 Weve been pioneering online learning in the fitness industry since 2018, so here are our top 5 tips for studying online for those wanting to up-skill their knowledge! 1 Have a dedicated study space Your dedicated study space should consist of several things that will set you up for a productive study session: a supportive backed chair, a table clear of distractions and enough natural light to keep you alert. ... 2 Time Block Time blocking is one of the most effective productivity strategies used to complete tasks effectively. Write down what coursework you want to complete each week and then schedule into your diary a specific time to work on them. 3 Ask for help Most online learning platforms have a way for you to contact your student mentor or teacher to clarify anything youre not sure of, so dont be afraid to ask questions. 4 Take breaks Having short breaks that are no longer than 15-20 minutes will give you enough time to feel re-energized without losing motivation to get back to the books. 5 Engage with the student community While you might not feel like talking to strangers, taking some time to interact with your student community will enable you to connect with other students on the same journey as you. You never know, you might even make some friends! To learn out more, check out our latest blog, Our Top Tips For Studying Online'. Read it here: https://chfi.click/EtgQOk See more

18.01.2022 Strength is defined as the ability to exert force against resistance. A good strength base can help increase hypertrophy, power, strength endurance & prevent injury When training for strength there are 3 primary methods that we can utilize: 1 The Maximal Effort Method... - Heavy loads, typically between 85-100% of 1RM for 1-5 repetitions - Trains the nervous system to become more efficient - Preferred method for someone looking to get stronger without gaining a lot of body weight 2 The Dynamic Method - Submaximal loads, typically 40-60% of 1RM for 1-5 repetitions - Very good for increasing the rate of force development/power - Typically used by power athletes closer to a competition when they need to teach their nervous system & muscles to express their strength as rapidly as possible 3 The Repetition Method - Moderate loads, typically between 60-80% of 1RM, for 8-15 repetitions - Incomplete rest periods are used to increase muscle fatigue - Helps improve strength endurance & is generally most effective for increasing muscle size or hypertrophy - Also used to prepare the muscles and connective tissue to withstand the higher forces encountered from the maximal effort method & the dynamic method Learn more in our article, 'The Science of Strength Development', written by Clean Health Research & Development Specialist, Stefan Ianev Read it here: https://chfi.click/TZhrYt See more

15.01.2022 One of the ways you can ensure YOUR coaching business stands out from the rest is by making sure you are providing your clients with the best possible VALUE. But what is value when it comes to coaching? For each client, the answer will differ, so its important to identify at the beginning of any clients journey what their No. 1 problem is and how you can help them solve this. Ultimately, this will be your value.... If you can identify their biggest problem from the start, something they may be struggling with and offer them a solution & then delivering on this, then you are on your way to creating a raving fan! Providing true value to your clients is SO important because if you create a raving fan, they will be more likely to spread the world and refer you on to someone they know. The idea of building a referral based business as a coach is that you eventually wont have to search for clients and they will come to you. Building a good referral base and increasing the number of public testimonials you have will not only build your credibility as a coach but boost your profile in the industry and set you apart from your competition! 14.01.2022 The way that education is delivered has never been more accessible than it is in 2020. In a digital age where people carry their smartphones everywhere and Wifi hotspots are a common amenity in shopping centers and cafes, the opportunity and desire for students to study on the go is greater than ever. With the online education industry in Australia having grown by 8.5% in the past 5 years, its important for education providers to be constantly looking for ways to im...prove the learning experience of their students. There are so many positive reasons for students to choose online learning, including the flexibility to study around work, family and social commitments. Online learning saves time and money too, with no travel needed to and from classrooms and online courses often costing less than traditional face to face educators. Online educators also provide their own forms of student support, often via their digital learning platform, where students can ask questions and receive timely responses, mimicking the support and interaction of an in person classroom. Living in a digital world, the desire for consumers to study online while still receiving the same supportive student experience as they traditionally would in a classroom is only going to keep growing. At Clean Health Fitness Institute, weve been pioneering online learning in the fitness industry since 2018 and are excited to keep providing a student focused online learning experience. 08.01.2022 The Conjugate Sequence system or model is the most advanced form of periodization and is often misunderstood by most coaches & lifters. So, what is it? This type of periodization was originally based on the premise that an elite athlete is unable to optimally adapt to a large number of stimuli simultaneously, but at the same time, detraining of those motor qualities that are not being trained will occur. ... To get around this, an elite athlete needs concentrated loading of 1 particular quality at a time, while all other qualities are maintained with a minimal volume of training. With this approach, an athlete can optimally adapt to a single stimulus, while maintaining the other qualities and avoiding stagnation, overtraining, & fatigue After a period of time, the emphasis is switched to another quality while putting the quality that was just developed at maintenance! 07.01.2022 Corrective exercises are used in training programs to help clients move & feel better- whether its while working out or going about their daily lives. They are implemented in programs to achieve STRUCTURAL BALANCE for each body part which is an important consideration when putting together a clients program. STRUCTURAL BALANCE IS: Strength and muscle mass that is evenly distributed from front to back, top to bottom, left to right, push to pull, and internal to extern...al rotation. This means that the entire body is BALANCED By training in a way that balances the load, forces & muscle mass around each joint and body segment, we will dramatically improve our client's strength output, build a balanced and aesthetically pleasing physique, move better & drastically reduce the risk of injury. WHEN TO IMPLEMENT THEM: Use where relevant for identified WEAK BODY PARTS. You should plan your client's training so that you structure both weak point & strong point exercises into their program, in order to train current imbalances, prevent future imbalances & build the strongest physique possible. Corrective exercises are often overlooked when putting together a program but shouldnt be ignored as they are a key component in keeping your client strong, balanced & moving well! 03.01.2022 Not all stress is bad and we NEED some stress or arousal to perform When faced with a challenge or stressful situation, the body releases stress chemicals such as dopamine, noradrenaline, and adrenaline. These chemicals have the following effects:... Increase attention & alertness Raise blood pressure & heart rate Increase muscle force production If an individual has TOO MUCH stress or arousal, this can increase tension & anxiety and lead to worse performance. This is why some athletes choke under pressure and some people choke when sitting an exam. THE 'GOLDILOCKS PRINCIPLE': These chemicals operate on a bell or inverted U curve. A client needs just the right amount of these chemicals. Too much or too little will impair performance and cognitive function. One of the reasons we all have different tolerance to stress in the gym is because we all sit at different points on the bell curve at baseline. That means some people are naturally more laid back & sit at the lower end of the bell curve, while others are naturally more wound up & sit at the higher end of the bell curve. This is important to know because if a client is already sitting at the higher end of the bell curve, and you try to push them too much in the gym you can tip them over, and their performance will suffer Comment, like & share to let us know if you found this helpful! 03.01.2022 The undulating model aims to overcome some of the limitations associated with traditional linear periodization. The main limitations with linear periodization include: A large percentage of the time is spent working with loads that are not optimal for increasing maximal strength Some of the structural adaptations which are developed in the early phases are lost in the later phases... Undulating periodization tries to overcome this by alternating short accumulation phases with short intensification phases! Below are some example of accumulation and intensification phases for athletes with different goals: MAXIMAL STRENGTH Accumulation: Hypertrophy (6-12 reps) Intensification: Strength (1-6 reps) HYPERTROPHY Accumulation: Hypertrophy (8-12 reps) Intensification: Functional Hypertrophy (5-8 reps) RELATIVE STRENGTH Accumulation: Functional Hypertrophy (4-6 reps) Intensification: Strength (1-3 reps) POWER Accumulation: Strength (1-6 reps) Intensification: Power (3-6 reps @ 30-60% of 1RM) ENDURANCE Accumulation: Strength Endurance (10-25 reps) Intensification: Strength (1-6 reps) Learn more in our latest article, 'Undulating Periodization for Strength & Performance', written by Clean Health Research & Development Specialist, Stefan Ianev! 01.01.2022 GRADUAL CALORIE REDUCTION TO BUST THROUGH PLATEAUS Short-term aggressive diets: The more aggressively you cut calories, the faster the onset of metabolic adaptations will be & the quicker your client will plateau. ... Metabolic rate, energy, sex hormones & hunger are primarily regulated by the hormone leptin. Leptin senses energy availability from your body fat stores and the food that you consume The leaner someone is & the more calories are reduced, the more leptin levels will tank This means they are likely to experience a greater REDUCTION in metabolic rate, low energy, extreme hunger, & lean muscle loss. Long term, this makes it extremely hard to stick to a diet, which is why extreme & aggressive transformations ultimately fail, even when people get results in the short term. They do not enforce sustainable long-term dietary habits and individuals often blow out afterwards. That is how the cycle of yo-yo dieting begins- people get stuck in this vicious cycle for years. Long-term gradual calorie reduction: When you start your client on a modest caloric deficit, the onset of metabolic adaptations is much less severe, it gives you some room to move when they plateau, and it allows you to establish long-term SUSTAINABLE eating habits. If your client can't see themselves following a particular diet for the rest of their life, then it is not sustainable! 01.01.2022 The law of thermodynamics inside of science is real This means, body composition comes down to one big math equation for the most part! Being in a CALORIE DEFICIT is simply consuming less calories on a consistent basis than what your body is burning & this is how weight loss is achieved ... Just because the principle is easy to understand, putting it to action day in and day out can be extremely hard. A caloric deficit requires some hunger throughout the process. It’s inconvenient as you can’t just eat whatever you want each day and stay within your targets. So, here are 5 hacks that can make sticking to a caloric deficit easier and promote consistency: 1 Plan your meals around the times of day your most hungry or have cravings 2 Include high volume, low calorie foods EVERYDAY to avoid hunger and binges 3 Include protein in every meal to slow down digestion 4 Look at food as "worth it or not worth it," instead of "good vs bad" (what’s aligned with your goals?) 5 Include refeeds and/or diet breaks throughout the diet Do you have any other tips?
