Here are some:- "Misconception #1: Some stranger is going to tell me what to do. Counsellors do not give advice. A good counsellor will truly listen to you and help you find your own inner resources. People often say it's easier to talk to someone you don't know than a family member or friend. "Misconception #2: Therapy costs too much, takes too much time, and is h...ard to find. Many counsellors, such as myself offer affordable counselling to people who are struggling with finances. The number of sessions depends on the issue and what you want to get out of counselling. Everyone is different. "Misconception #3: I don’t want someone to know our #business. As counsellors we know how hard it is to find the courage, make the appointment, walk through the door and being vulnerable talking about our problem.
