23.01.2022 Panelist Spotlight We are very excited to introduce one of our panelists for the Women in Tech industry night, Mary Hewitt. Mary is a Data Scientist at Woodside Energy. She studied Science and Music at the University of Western Australia and then at Curtin University, earning a Bachelor of Science (Applied Geology), Graduate Diploma of Geographical Information Systems, and a Master of Science (Geospatial Science). After graduating, she commenced the graduate program at W...oodside, starting off with a role as a Cognitive Robotics Advisor, working with NASA to further the use of robotics in remote scenarios. She now works as a Data Scientist, spending her time understanding engineers and improving other people’s work lives through automation with code. Over the past two years, Mary has also led one of the largest volunteer wish projects for Make-a-Wish Australia, building and coding a custom made robot for a young boy called Charlie. In her spare time, Mary enjoys Olympic weightlifting and getting involved in her local community. 20.01.2022 Project spotlight: Friends of the Grounds UWA! The Friends of the Grounds UWA was established with the objective of encouraging the UWA, and wider WA community to take an active interest in the grounds. FoGUWA have recruited Coders for Causes to create a map-based application, which will allow users to actively track their location, and that of the plant species on the grounds.
