25.01.2022 It has been shown sugar in liquid form has far greater health consequences than in solid form, and it is very easy to overconsume. Additionally, a lot of bevera...ges contain around the daily recommended limit of added/free sugars in one serve! Packing water for childrens school lunch, and not having liquid sugars available in the home, are both simple ways to cut down excess added and free sugar intake.

25.01.2022 Thats the fairy fun complete for today. Thank you to everyone who had a laugh and participated today at the market. A big thank you to our wonderful team members who came down to help. You are all amazing. There is still time to enter our competition to win $500 of dental treatment. Simply pop in to see us at 36 Hesse St before the 30th August to enter.

24.01.2022 We offer afterpay and interest free payment plans. You can see us whenever you need to - and pay later. With no interest ever! Call us on 52312755 to book an appointment.

24.01.2022 Colac Dental Practice is still open to treat any dental emergencies, following the Australian Dental Association and AHPPC mandates to keep you and our community safe.

23.01.2022 Following the advice of the ADA, Federal and Victorian Health Ministers and Chief Health Officers regarding elective surgery - Dental practices are able to provide a much more comprehensive service, as of Monday 27th April. We will be operating at level 2 restrictions and able to provide fillings, checkups, dentures and emergency dental care. You will notice some additional measures such as temperature testing, disinfectant pre procedure mouthwashes and social distancing w...ithin the practice. We are excited to be able to help you meet your urgent dental needs and prevent problems before they occur - with regular dental care such as checkups. We will be open our regular business hours Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 8am - 7pm Thursday 8am - 6pm Friday 8am to 5:30pm Patients with appointments that have been cancelled due to COVID 19 will be contacted as a priority to reschedule their appointments in the coming days.

22.01.2022 Do you have a toothache? We are still open to help. We are operating under level 3 restrictions which limits the services available. We thank you for you understanding during this time. We also ask for your co-operation in allowing us to take your temperature with a touchless thermometer, sanitising your hands when entering our practice and using a hydrogen peroxide mouthwash before consultation. We follow all of the available information to keep you, our staff and our commu...nity safe. Take care everyone. See more

22.01.2022 Whats really in those squeezy packs for babies? "Consumer organisation CHOICE took a look, and while they found you could do worse with your choices, they also found that often those products boasting fruits or pureed vegetables are in fact laden with sugar."

19.01.2022 After careful consideration noting the increase in Covid cases in Colac, our practice has elected to voluntarily return to stage 2 restrictions as applicable to dental treatment. Given we already continue to provide most of our services under these restrictions, the most noticeable change will be that we are unable to provide cleans of teeth until further notice. We can still provide other dental services including emergency treatment, fillings and checkups. We will continue ...to temperature test our patients and staff, use our PPE, have patients use hydrogen peroxide mouthwash & hand sanitiser, use rubber dam and as per our practice protocols - ensure that none of our staff enter any locked down area, and if they do they will be absent from the workplace for 14 days pending a covid test result before return to the workplace. This has been our staff policy for some time. Our number one priority is our community, patients and staff. Stay safe everyone. See more

16.01.2022 The winner of the electric toothbrush today is....James Barker! Congratulations from all of us at Colac Dental Practice and the Rotary Colac Community Market. Thank you to all the wonderful Rotary members for your help on the day and to MC Serge Beani.

16.01.2022 Australian Health Protection Principal Committee announcement Re : Dental Services "AHPPC recommends adopting the Managing COVID-19 Guidelines published by the ADA and implementing a triage system for dental practice. AHPPC recommends that all dental practices implement level 3 restrictions as outlined in ADAs guidance. That is, dentists should only perform dental treatments that do not generate aerosols, or where treatment generating aerosols is limited. All routine exami...nations and treatments should be deferred." Colac Dental Practice has implemented the above restrictions from Monday 23/3 as per the ADA guidelines released the same day. We do everything in our power to keep our patients and staff safe and thus promise to implement new restrictions immediately, to protect our community. We are still open to attend to dental emergencies after appropriate triage and screening questions. We are also asking all patients to allow us to take their temperature on arrival with a no touch thermometer, sanitise their hands and perform a peroxide mouthwash before treatment commences.

16.01.2022 Colac Dental Practice is committed to looking after Colac throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We take pride in maintaining an exceptional standard of infection control and hygiene at our practice everyday. We are independently accredited, independently trained and exceed the infection control standards applicable to the dental industry on a daily basis. Our surgeries are, and always have been, sanitised & disinfected between patients. This remains unchanged during the COVID-19... outbreak. We want to reassure our patients that our practice is open to provide dental treatment and will continue to follow the advice of the Dental Board, AHPRA, Australian Dental Association and Federal / State governments throughout this difficult time. Our dentists are committed to looking after our community and making sure dental emergencies are addressed, to not further burden the hospital system. We are also committed to implementing any changes advised to protect you, immediately. As some additional measures to protect your family whilst at our practice, high touch items such as magazines and toys have been removed. You will be asked to sanitise your hands on arrival and extra environmental cleaning is being undertaken in addition to our normal schedule. This cleaning includes extra disinfection of door handles, taps, desks, pens, EFTPOS machine and other items you may come into contact with, in our practice. We also ask you to reschedule your appointment if 1. You are unwell AT ALL. 2. You have been unwell with a sore throat, fever, cough OR TUMMY upset in the week preceding your appointment. 3. You have been in contact with any person who is in self isolation for suspected COVID-19 or is proven to have contracted COVID-19. Our staff have all committed to care for our community throughout this pandemic and are committed to your safety. Take care everyone - and wash your hands! We will get through this.

16.01.2022 The announcement of a return to level one restrictions enables us to offer all types of dental treatment. There are no longer restrictions on the services we can provide. Give us a call on 52312755 or book online at www.colacdental.com.au Our surgery still looks a little different with a maximum of 5 people in our waiting room and the use of hand sanitiser upon entry to the practice. We will also continue our temperature testing of all patients & staff and hydrogen peroxide mouthwash/rubber dam use during treatment (where possible) to protect you, your family and our staff. We appreciate how wonderful everyone has been adapting to the changes. We look forward to looking after your smile!

15.01.2022 Colac Dental Practice will remain open for dental emergencies. As health professionals we provide essential emergency treatment to patients by ensuring they dont become seriously unwell from dental infections or suffer in pain, thus attending and increasing pressure on Urgent Care at CAH. The health and safety of the community, patients and our staff is always our priority, thus we have decided to defer routine dental treatment at least for this week. We will continue to r...eassess the situation within the Colac area daily, in relation to Covid 19 cases. If you have an upcoming appointment we will be in touch as soon as possible. We wish all of those affected by this virus a speedy recovery and our best wishes. If you are unwell at all, in isolation, awaiting test results or affected by Covid with a dental emergency, you must not attend our clinic and call us on 52312755 for treatment to be arranged at a specialist facility. #keepcolacsafe

15.01.2022 Seed crackers are a wonderful healthy staple to have in the pantry for a snack, lunch, or even to crumble on top of a salad. Great for kids lunch boxes as well!... INGREDIENTS 1 1/2 cups sunflower seeds 1/2 cup linseeds 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds 1/4 cup chia seeds 1tsp salt 1 1/2 cups hot water . . METHOD -Place all the ingredients in a bowl. Set aside, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes or until water has absorbed. -Line 2 large baking trays with non-stick baking paper. Press the seed mixture firmly over the trays, about 2mm in thickness ensuring there are no gaps. Bake for 1 hour or until golden and crisp. Cool completely and break into large pieces. *You can add any dried herbs and spices to change the flavour from time to time, but they are delicious as is! #sugarbyhalf #crackers #seedcrackers #goodfats #nutrition #healthysnack #biccuits #kidslunchbox See more

13.01.2022 Another simple swap at the supermarket to reduce your familys sugar intake. Aim for 24g or 6 teaspoons of sugar per day.

13.01.2022 Today our practice has implemented the recommendations from the Australian Dental Association and Victorian Health Department, that dental practices should implement level 3 restrictions, immediately. We were given this advice today. All routine checkups, cleans, fillings and cosmetic cases have been deferred. Whilst dentists ARE classed as essential services, we must still implement all recommendations effectively and immediately. This is for your safety and the safety of ou...r staff. We must all play our part to stop the spread of coronavirus. These immediate restrictions mean that we can only provide emergency dental treatment. This is a limited service. We are currently still open and will triage cases based on severity. We ask for your understanding at this difficult time. We are only here to help and will do so as best we can. Some dental problems will now have to wait until the Covid-19 pandemic passes. Lets hope that is soon. We will endeavour to keep our patients informed as the situation changes. So please play your part - stay at home - wash your hands. Please stay safe. Xxxx

03.01.2022 Is that healthy recipe youve been given really healthy? Or is it actually full of sugar? Sugar has many names - white sugar, raw sugar, honey, rice malt syrup..... 1 TEASPOON of any of these still has 4 grams of sugar. Food companies develop new names for added sugars all the time - agave syrup, beet sugar, coconut sugar, malt - that sounds healthier than sugar right? They are all exactly the same - sugar. WHO recommends no more than 24g or 6 teaspoons of sugar per day.
