25.01.2022 Proving what we already know! A little dirt coupled with some risk is good. I attended the Calm and Connected conference yesterday on ADHD (and other co morbidiities ). One of the very interesting things said was how a walk, barefoot, in a natural environment for 20 minutes enabled children with ADHD to go back into class and concentrated for sustained periods. Imagine the benefits! Thats why, during Day Care, we go out almost every day - even in the rain. Why we get grubby... in the yard outside. 24.01.2022 I am proud of the fact I never interfere or finish the childrens artwork or Creations. I discovered from my own children attending care that the masterpiece I displayed with joy of their best work was in fact mostly done by the centre based Educators to fill their portfolios and make them look nice. BUT..... For the first time ever I have! Courtesy of a hot glue gun the snowmen have their eyes back again and can be proud of their snazzy buttons.... Unfortunately elmers glue just wasnt up for the job so I had to reglue. Its still their placement and buttons. Just restuck by me

Today, this is baking soda on my work jeans but tonight it might be sugar dusting from a celebratory Marguerita (Not the dough based kind). Almost 10 years (this November) in an industry I never knew existed before I needed day care myself. Thank you for trusting me with your children.... 14.01.2022 How are we keeping safe during Covid-19? Social Distancing - no friends, day care siblings or unnecessary entry to our home. Hygiene - Methodically washing door handles door bells ipad etc.... Hand sanitizer on entry and exit Increasing daily cleaning routines Resources on display and accessible - reduced to minimum to prevent cross contamination Resources and bedding washed daily No new non-essential enrolments (children of essential service workers the only exception ) Follow all guidelines issued . Lots of fresh air and outdoor play Family Day Care has always managed to keep high hygiene standards due to low numbers of children to one Educator . Stay safe everyone x

05.01.2022 Not sure why parents still feel the pressure to chase academic success before the age of 5. A childs social and emotional intelligence is still forming and is the most important intelligence to encourage at such a young age. This sums it up perfectly.

05.01.2022 VACANCIES 2020 As sad as it is each time our little crew go off to Kindy it is a great opportunity to welcome new members to our day care family. Spaces will be available from January 2020. Registered for all Govt rebates.... We follow the refuse, reuse, recycle and repurpose principles. Our daily excursions are based in our local community and are aimed at natural, unstructured, responsive learning opportunities. Real life experiences as opposed to invitations to play scenarios. Why play at Cafes when you can go to one and watch the Dolphins while poor old Mum n Dad have to work!

01.01.2022 When you visit a family day care you see a small snapshot of a day. When you drop off and pick up you dont get to hear the magical un-rushed conversations that have taken place. Conversations between all ages where children can be themselves, explore ideas, use unfamiliar words and language, listen to eclectic music across cultures to help them find their inner beat. ... Be themselves without the cacophany of noise from 15 - 30 kids all being directed to activities and tasks. You may see kids not achieving academic potential. But with our help and guidance we see small humans learning to self regulate. We see them show empathy, grow in confidence and care for the environment they belong to. We see them come to a place of peace and relaxation rather than existing in a fast paced noisy environment. Lets not make our little people into tiny adults .
