18.01.2022 We, at Commercial Rowing Club are taking a big deep breath (virus-free) and in the words of Dr Lindsay Jernigan, are being still and quiet while allowing the wave to pass, hopefully without engulfing too many of the vulnerable among us. We will open when the time is right and wish that all our rowing buddies return fit and healthy. Take care all and look out for each other

18.01.2022 Congratulations to Jacinta Edmunds for being named in the Australian Womens Sweep squad to race (hopefully) at up-coming World Cups and Selection regattas prior to the Tokyo Olympics. Although not selected at this time, good work Adam Bakker who has been at the NTC for a short time and achieved much in Canberra. Well done on all your efforts, Jacinta and Adam, Commercial is very proud to have you wear the blue and blue.

16.01.2022 Rowing Australia, Rowing NZ and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Eric Murray, today announced the 2020 Anzac Day Indoor Rowing Challenge. The event to take place... from dawn to dusk on Saturday 25 April will see Australians and New Zealanders unite to record 2504 metres, as many times as possible, at home, on their indoor rowing machines. Those who choose to take part in the event can log their metres between dawn and dusk with the country who recorded the most 2504m per participant to be announced on Sunday 26 April. Rowing Australia CEO Ian Robson added, These are unprecedented times and we are looking forward to seeing many of those with indoor rowing machines from across our two countries contributing to the challenge and also to our respective charitable organisations. It is also fitting that, as we look to honour our military by rowing this weekend, the Australian War Memorial’s pre-recorded Anzac Day Last Post Ceremony will tell the story of South Australian rower, Private Thomas Anderson Whyte of the 10th Battalion AIF, who was killed during the landing at Gallipoli in 1915. As Arthur Blackburn wrote of Whyte, ‘it was largely due to the courage and endurance of Tom and his fellow-rowers in all the boats that everyone was landed with the minimum of loss.’ Rowing is intrinsically linked to the Anzacs and we’re honoured to play our part in recognising the importance of Anzac Day. Please visit our website for more information on how to participate on Saturday 25 April. https://rowingaustralia.com.au//2020-anzac-day-indoor-row/ #AnzacAtHome #TYFYS #StandAtDawn #AnzacDay2020 World Rowing Rowing NSW Rowing South Australia Rowing Victoria Rowing Tasmania Rowing Queensland Rowing WA Rowing ACT Australian Olympic Team Australian Paralympic Team World Rowing Indoor Australian War Memorial RSL National RSL NSW RSL Queensland RSL Victoria RSL Tasmania RSLWA RSL South Australia Darwin RSL Sub-Branch 776BC

11.01.2022 Well done to all CRC crews competing in the big boat Winter Series completed last Saturday. CRC crews did well with gold for the Womens Masters D quad, Mens Coxless Four and a bronze to the Womens Masters E quad. Although not medallists, our mens eights rowed consistently. Great racing and good competition!

10.01.2022 Another successful regatta for young and mature club racers at Wyaralong on Saturday. Many thanks to Charlie, Stephen, David and Adam for their greatly appreciated support and organisation in our Youth members achieving solid results. Thanks also to the parent support crew for getting the athletes to the course and taking charge of shade housing. Our results reflected some novice athletes gaining invaluable experience and confidence while some of our more experienced racers achieved creditable results. See https://qld.rowingmanager.com/regattas/5112/results for the full list. Thanks also to RQ staff and BRO's for putting on a well-run event.

09.01.2022 KEV KEHOE REMEMBERED On the evening of the 25th of February members old and new joined some of the Kehoe family in a ceremony and boat naming. The photo captures the moment Kev's son Brendan and daughter Shelley did the honours christening the Kev Kehoe. The poem in the attached photos was also read out on the pontoon by life member Nick Caris as Kev's ashes floated away to the sounds of the bagpipe.
