21.01.2022 Hey young guys and girls of Gympie, parents, community members and everyone in between! My name is Murray For those who haven’t met me just yet, I’ve worked at Community Action Inc and the Youth Service for nearly 3 years now, mostly as a Youth Worker in an Intake/Resource capacity. I have prior worked throughout our region extensively in the real estate industry, hospitality industry and been a part of lots of different community events and all kinds of stuff. This week... is my first week as the new Manager of the Gympie Youth Service. I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead for the Youth Service and the young people we connect with. A quick message from me to all the young people out there... ‘The fears we don’t face can become our limits, and you are limitless’. For me, heights is something that I’ve always been extremely fearful of and like in this photo (alongside the Youth Service team), I worked through one of my biggest fears and reached a whole new limit (selfie and all)! 18.01.2022 We are so humbled to have been surprised this afternoon by two incredible workers from Gympie State High School who are delivering thank you hampers to frontline workers in our region. Being the local Youth Service is something our team is so very proud of and even though we are frontline workers, we feel the need to say thank you back to everyone who has helped in any way, big or small. Things are looking up with Covid-19 and we all deserve to share in that excitement toget...her. 13.01.2022 Can you relate? As mums, especially new mums we can feel a lot of emotions some of which we simply can't expect or prepare ourselves for. Social connectedness is so important and when you feel isolated, connecting can be so essential to feeling good about yourself and bub. Now more than ever, mums are looking for ways to connect and keep in touch, with social distancing in place things like mothers groups, catch ups or coffee can be hard. There are so many great Facebook grou...ps or social media avenues to connect with other mums online. 12.01.2022 Today the Youth Service held our annual Christmas party event at the Gympie Aquatic Recreation Centre, this is a great opportunity to connect with young people that we have worked with throughout the year and celebrate the start of the festive season! This afternoon two young women who engage in a few of our primary programs stopped in to surprise staff with some gifts they (alongside other clients) had come together to organise for us! It is such a privelidge to work wit...h young people in need and it’s moments like this that remind us all of exactly that! Hi, my name is Geniene Pearce and have happily accepted and commenced work at Community Action Youth Services as the Resource Worker. My passion for early intervention and preve...ntative health care has driven me to pursue my career in health at an individual and community level, completing my Bachelor in Health Promotion majoring in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health in 2017. I have always been interested in healthy lifestyle choices, human behaviours, Indigenous health, and health and wellbeing of young people! I have had a long history of hospitality experience, volunteering and working in schools as a Cook, assisting children with healthy eating choices, teaching cooking skills to youth, working with sustainability gardens with paddock to plate concepts and experience as a Youth Worker at Queensland Youth Justice Service. I am very excited to become part of the team and grateful to be here to problem solve and support our youth and the Gympie community.
